Replacing the plaster greenboard behind the tiles with proper concrete backer board like Hardiebacker is a good idea if ever you want to replace the tiles again. I don't know why UK new builds use greenboard - maybe a cost thing?
just a tip concerning the flooring,if you get some spray adhesive so if any of the vinyl tiles starts to lift give it a spray and its stays down for good.We've used it in the bathroom its been really good,no problem with lifting.Also a much safer option to use in a bathroom with children.
Nice tile choice they definitely have the wow factor shame about the walls under the old tiles that makes me have a rethink as I want to do the same remove old tiles around my bath and re-tile around my bath and put in a shower. 👏
