Highway Therapy is one of my favorite channels now. They don't infuse annoying music into their videos - just easy to the ear music or no music. Also, a positive life reflection is usually shared
The last couple times we've tried to see if Harvest host was an option they were booked. In the beginning you rarely had to have a reservation ahead of your stay. Now much more difficult in the more popular areas.
Couples backing into a site can be very entertaining, until it's you and yours. ;) We tried the walkie talkies, but DH had problems following my directions. We solved the problem by switching positions. Now, when we get to the site, we both get out and look the site over and decide where and how we want the camper situated. Then I get behind the wheel and DH directs me in. No shouting or flared tempers. Truth be told, I think I'm much better at backing up than he is b/c I don't confuse left and right. Also, I go slow and I actually do listen to what DH is telling me to do. Makes a huge difference.
We were HH members for three years but as time went on we found that many hosts were booked weeks out, taking away some of the spontaneity of travel. Other hosts weren’t screened well enough. One winery in NM didn’t have any spaces close to level, one brewery in WI had spaces next to train tracks with trains running all night long, We found HH to be a mixed bag and eventually it wasn’t worth the annual membership fee.
Thanks for watching! It's our printed copy of our Complete Guide To Boondocking. Feel free to read more about it here: rvlifestyle.com/boondockingPRINT
I was at Zion National Park in 2008 and it was overcrowded then, I can’t imagine now! You now have to make a reservation for Rocky Mountain NP , Yelliwstone etc. I guess this will be the only way to limit the huge crowds going forward: limited reservations and higher fees.
That triple rig is probably 80’ or so. The shortest Berkshire is 35.5’. The truck is right at 19’ and the boat is probably every bit of 16 feet - bow to motor prop. Add in space for both hitches and you are right at 80’. The boat could be longer as could the rig. I’m not sure in what state that arrangement is legal. Glad I wasn’t pulling that train.
You grossly under estimated the length of the Class A, pickup and pontoon boat. Class A we'll call 35 feet, pickup is at least 20 feet and the pontoon boat average is 25 feet. 35+20+25=80 feet.
It really is awful that so many inconsiderate people are ruining these spaces and the opportunities for others. I like the permit idea so they can limit the numbers and keep track of who was there.
Hi, we have used city parks in our travels and are finding they claim they're full , but they have empty sites. When we travel we explore, we do not hibernate in the campground, we also explore the campground. We have 2 dachshunds that are very nosey so we explore. I know the campground is paid for the site but the towns are losing revenue. It's a growing concern, for us, and it should be for the city and their business. Harvest Hosts ,which we are a member, are good, and a overnight is good for travels, but not for exploring . Just food for thought.
A good way to communicate is to say driver side and passenger side. That triple tow of class a, truck and pontoon boat has to be class a 45 feet, truck 18 feet a d pontoon boat 25 feet for a total of 88 feet plus the blue ox hitch plus the boat trailer tongue. So your wife would be correct over 90 feet. CRAZY 🤪😜🤪
I don't think camping/ rving will remain quite as popular after international travel becomes easy again. But we are probably in an overall uptick of interest, as it became steadily more popular years before 2020
My thoughts are 1. I am only camping Mon-Thurs (wknds are for driving) 2. Not camping on major holidays. 3. I am leaving no trace. 4.Only visiting National Parks after Labor Day. Do you think that will help me and the crowds? I don't want to become part of the problem. *still waiting for my Wonder*
I like the permit idea with spot specific permits so the ones doing the littering can be fined and the fines increase each time. After 3 fines you get banned from permits for a year. Also all states should be linked so if you're banned it applies to all states.
I have to disagree about RV dealers educating. I'm 57 and the "wrong doing" of littering has been pounded into my and younger generations. People are just lazy and I considerate.
I found out 3 years ago I don't do well in high altitudes..unfortunately people do not do their research..more closures, are coming there isn't any respect for our lands..
How sad that so many people treat our beautiful country like their own private trash can/toilet. I don't see Harvest Host/Boondockers Welcome having the same problems as BLM or other free camping areas. The patrons are from completely different walks of life. Harvest Host/Boondockers Welcome patrons are typically mature, courteous and FOLLOWING THE RULES, whereas areas like Max Patch in North Carolina are areas that some people treat like a field party where they simply show up for the party atmosphere with a tent and a twelve pack!!! Maybe taking it away from them for awhile is the best thing to do.

We have a companion article to this video with tons of extra material and resources on our blog at rvlifestyle.com/campground-alternative/

I enjoy the new video format. Thanks for all of the high quality content you provide...
Great pod cast. Always enjoy them.
Very well done! Enjoyed the podcast.
It is amazing, especially when you add water weight for all three tanks, just how little is left for anything else!!!!
Great Job guys! Thank You!
Good morning, Thank you for your resourceful video!

We have loved our Harvest Host stays. Can't say enough about our wonderful experiences.
A semi truck and Trailer total length bumper to bumper is 102 feet long. I love all the clips and pictures
Not sure where you got your info, but a 53’ trailer behind a normal HDT tractor is nowhere near 102’
One full time rver stayed in the state park. They couldn't fly the drone in the park, but they went outside the park and flew it over the park.
You mentioned a Boondock book. What is the book?

Can you stay at a harvest host location even if you’re only tent camping?
I think usually not. Harvest host seem to want self contained RVs only
New subscriber here. Lots of good information. I'm not an RVer yet - retirement in 2 years!

Was that for 1 axel? Would you not double that on a dually? Her capacity was probably 120 lbs PLUS another 5K or so for the second axel.

I'm curious what class C those people bought, that had no payload.

To join,is that 50$per year or lifetime?
70’ is the length that is allowed on US highways by class C drivers
Those guys pulling EVERYTHING behind theirs were CLEARLY over the legal limit!!!!

If we know a local business that wants to consider being a H Host, who to call?
I found out 3 years ago I don't do well in high altitudes..unfortunately people do not do their research..more closures, are coming there isn't any respect for our lands..
People have gotten so disrespectful.
Advertising channel, not so much camping

I like your content but not the length of time. Have you considered making shorter post?
