I see if you have limited money .. spend MAX $800 on a solar generator with added expense of panels, ... can you use them for A.C.?? .. Can you hook one up to a electric space heater?? ... for any amount of time? ... so if not, .. what are you spending $1000 - $1500 for? .. to keep a freezer up n going for $100 of food?

I am here to tell you that your 32 minute video is one of the rare few videos I have watched from beginning to end, without feeling like I'm wasting my precious and valuable time. Every minute I spent watching this video was time well spent because the content and information you provided was both invaluable, and well researched, and you presented it in a no nonsense, straightforward way that dived into the nuts and bolts of the topic, while keeping it relevant AND concise. Yes - the video was 32 minutes long, but you provided so much valuable information for people wanting to compare and research the different models and brands you presented that watching it was truly a workshop or seminar on portable power stations. AND NOT ONCE did you beg people to "like and subscribe" to your channel, or go on and on about other things not related to the topic of your video, and waste the viewers time by never getting to the point of the video. The added bonus of your spreadsheet is truly a remarkable and priceless gift. I want to thank you for one of THE MOST outstanding videos on all of YT. Kudos to you!

    SPECIAL POINT FOR EVERYONE:
Most of you probably already know this but, it's important I feel to mention it anyways:
    * There are very few items that you need to run consistently... so that means that you can run a couple of items, get the "job" done, then unplug them, and then run other items. That way the solar generator is NOT maxed out and you have time to recharge the battery over and over and over!
    An Example:
    * In Southern CA a couple of year ago, the electric went off and it stayed off for THREE DAYS!
    * We have the usual refrigerator AND a very old upright freezer that takes a lot of power.
    * We immediately put ice bottles (that we make all the time in the smaller freezer) into the frig to keep things cold for as long as possible and we tried our hardest not to open it, which worked very well... we kept things pretty cold for three days and still were able to eat food from the frig... meaning that it was very cold and safe to eat.
    * As for the old upright freezer, it stayed cold (aka frozen) FOR THREE DAYS also because we never opened it... everything stayed frozen!!
    * If we had owned a Solar Generator back then (we're buying one ASAP), we could have plugged JUST THE FREEZER into the solar generator, let it run a couple hours to keep everything frozen.. AND THEN UNPLUGGED IT AGAIN... and then charged our refrigerator and done the same thing, just run it for a couple hours and then unplug it so we could use the generator for other important things.. like emergency radio, using the pressure cooker to cook etc etc.
    My Point Is This:
In an emergency situation, you don't need to be running anything full-time, unless it's a critical medical device... or an emergency radio (which should be run on batteries anyways).
You'll have plenty of time to run the items you need to survive... AND plenty of time to recharge your solar generator.
    Be Safe Fellow Citizens...
Work Together And We'll Get Through Anything!
    Amen

Thank you so much for all the research you have done and the amount of content provided. I started off thinking I needed/wanted a whole home generator, but quickly became disillusioned by the ridiculously high cost ($13-$18K) , Loooooong lead times, noise and natural gas cost to operate. (My HOA does not allow permanent solar panels, but does not currently restrict back up generators or temporary solar panels) With the help of you and others, I've concluded that my money will be MUCH better spent on multiple strategically selected inverters w/ solar charging for outages that exceed the life of charged up units. I downloaded your spreadsheet and plan to use it exclusively to narrow down my final selection. Granted, this option will require much more planning (like having to pull out fridge to get to "hidden" plug and other physical cut overs w/ multiple extension cords! However, with your and others help I am convinced I'm up to the task. Please keep up the good work!

Excellent video. You raise a really good point I hadn't thought much about - a lithium iron phosphate battery will last much longer. I sure don't want to invest a few thousand dollars (they are more expensive here in Australia) only to have the battery life run down after 2-3 years. The Bluetti units seems way more cost effective than their competitors when their lifespan is factored in.

Great comparison/review! I ended up with the Pecron and 800W of HQST rigid panels, and like them a lot. I discovered I could have built my own 5000 Wh with 3000W inverter for about $600 more, but the light weight and simplicity of the Pecron were important to me.

BEST and most thorough solar generator video I have ever watched. Thank You so very much!!
A few years ago, I pieced together an emergency system ...a couple of 100 watt solar briefcases (each with a small charge controller built in), a 5000 watt sine wave inverter, and VMaxtanks 100 AH batteries. Due to limited income, it was necessary to by piece by piece so it took a while. Functional for an bare bones emergency situation. However, my mini fridge/freezer only ran 23.6 hrs on one 100 AH solar battery (connected to invertor / battery w/o solar panel connected. Solar SLA batteries weighing over 60 lbs apiece.
I am liking the solar blankets idea for travel/bug out and would like the additional info on the Pecron. Might not be affordable for me but would still like to see the informational video on it!!

Great video! As an amateur radio operator interested emergency communications, one of my primary concerns is radio frequency noise emmitted by electronic devices. Have you checked any of the storage devices reviewed for RF noise.
In the US the FCC has a Part 47 Class B RF noise certification that is generally accepted being RF noise quiet.
Most devices of this type are most likely to be RF noisy during solar charging, especially if the charge controller used PWM technology versus MPPT solar charging technology.
Being sensitive to RF noise issues I cobbled together a couple of systems using Morningstar Solar Prostar MPPT charge controllers and Samlex inverters due to reputation of reliability and FCC noise certification.
For batteries, the bulk of my storage is AGM, but I do have smaller lithium ion batterys for portable radios, but I do see myself in the market for newer battery technology to replace 3600Wh of AGM batteries in the foreseable future, which is why I am interested in these battery devices RF noise certifications.

THANKS for all the work you put in to this video, and especially the Excel worksheet! I'm an Excel geek, so I'll love playing with that!
You've definitely save me time off my decision-making process, but I'm tending towards the greater lifecycle advantage of the Bluetti (though the EcoFlows "stadium charge" time is very impressive!). I haven't studied your spreadsheet yet (so you may have already done this), but I wonder if there is such a thing as a specification that documents the "Unit lifecycle $/KWhr, which would basically highlight the $ advantage of extended lifecycle by factoring in the impact of the replacement cost of the more short-lived units. So if the lifecycle of the Bluetti is three times more than another unit (ie. lithium ion), the replacement costs of those shorter-lived units should be added to provide a more apples to apples comparison. What do you think, Kris?
