You mentioned the triplet figure in the final movment of the Beethoven Op. 18, No. 1. In my ear, there is also a connection between the second theme in first movement of the Mendelssohn Quintet No. 1 Op. 18 and the second theme in the first movement of the Beethoven string quartet Op. 18, No. 4 in C minor.
Hm..is it fair to compare Mozart's with Mendelssohn's talent when at Mozart s time most winds still had issues and for me, Mozart s biggest tragedy was never to have met Beethoven's works, which opened a whole new world in the music realm
Wonderful lecture. Unfortunately, someone in the audience keeps coughing very loudly throughout the lecture, making it very annoying to listen to. Chamber music society should do a better job of excluding shitty people.

'comprised' does NOT mean 'composed' !
