Hi! I'm the creator of Mt-Tremblant 69. You did great with this video, very nicely done with clever camera shots to present the surroundings. I was smiling all along. Now I know what to show people that aren't in simracing what I did all this time. Many thanks for all the positive comments and observations. I knew you'd like it ;-)
The fact the circuit is still here (for now) and doesn't have at least one race for IMSA, IndyCar, Lower Formulae, Touring or even GTWAm race is a damn shame. We lost the great Westwood, let's not have Mount Trembly go the same way.
@@Tomtown007 He did list it for sale as of recent, but he's rescinded the offering. So let's hope he has plans to bring it back to full international racing glory.
I know this circuit hanks to Grid Autosport. This Track provides fantastic Racing in this Game. Especially Turn 1 is a Hotspot for Crashes. That's why i Drive Always slow and on the inside. In one Race, the AI Made a 8 Car pile up there including both Ravenwest Cars. And the Cars Flip easily on the gravel traps
Unfortunately Canada lacks the national racing series. So this is always going to be an issue. And unfortunately we don’t have enough of a motorsport culture to support some thing like the V8 supercars. Champ car did race here one year in 2007. And they never knew what to do with that first chicane.
Great memories here for me. I raced here in 71, CSSC in my 67 911s Porsche bought from Vasek Polak in 69. My only LeMans start was here...I had qualified 2nd, but left last after belts were buckled....fought back up to 5th...my wife and I still remember it all in the beautiful Country.
12:00 This '69 Mt. Tremblant version is so accurate and the accuracy comes into the details. Every time I pass on the hump without enough downforce my car wants to fly, and that's what exactly happened to Jakie Oliver in 1970. That's a great proof of the attenction to the details. 👍
There is no other youtuber as good as you at this. I haven't ever seen anyone actually dive this well into the brilliant world of sim racing mods and it is beautiful.
Yeah, this looks absolutely great. Btw, Surtees was F1 champ in '64; Clark was the '65 champ. I think you managed a 1:43.5; the best in the actual event was a 1:37.3, which, after watching this, just seems all the more insane at a certain level.
Great vid and race. Love seeing these Canadian tracks. Mosport and Tremblant done, what's next, maybe an original Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (or Circuit Notre-Dame as it was originally) in turbo-ground effect F1 cars?
I have yet to find an original version of CGV (with the pit lane after the hairpin) in any sim. I’m hoping AMS2 features it at some point. Do you know of any?
That would really be a great tribute to Gilles in the 40th of his departure at Zolder in that damn collision and flight. Here in Italy we still cry him like it was Ferrari's son (and for Enzo, he has really been like an adopted son, even for a while...). SALUT GILLES! Lest We Forget! 💙👋
I downloaded this about 4 or 5 days being amazed how little it changed from 69 to now but like all things it was so much more alive and colorful then. Great video like always, and thank you for keeping history in the forefront of this hobby
Wow, so much to comment on. Another outstanding video, Jake. Well researched, and beautifully produced. And great driving to boot! Mt. Tremblant was the first permanent circuit I ever attended, back in the mid 70s. It was about 2 hours from my home. I just missed the F1/Can-Am era, but it was a huge regional club racing track, eventually hosting national series like the Player's GM, Hankook Formula Ford and Rothmans Porsche 944 Cup in the 1980s. I have been watching the development of this mod since I began sim racing, and I am beyond thrilled that it has now been released. Thank you GPLaps for letting everyone know about it.
New fan. Your video editing and narration are top notch. I feel like I’m watching a Mike Rowe narrated documentary on Discovery. Keep up the outstanding work!
I love this video, and this mod. The amount of detail and work put into this is honestly 10/10. Grass FX, spectators, good looking game objects and advertisements, really go a long way for presentation. And always take forever to put together, and work💀 This track compared to the fictitious one I've done, which is still missing those things, it's such a huge difference in overall quality.
Fantastic! I was waiting for this release (St-Jovite) for two years, since I watched one of his pre-release vids here on youtube and began to search for it only to discover the topic in the assetto mods forum where he was saying that the job would take a long time to be released! Going to delight myself with this track! :) Great vid as always! Cheers!
This circuit is what introduced me to racing and my love for autosport. I've had the pleasure to rip around in person, and it's amazing how the layout has remained unchanged. Turns 1, 2 and 3 are properly terrifying considering they're blind, going 150kph, with a very small braking zone for turn 4. Turn 9 (hump) is significantly smaller now, but the car still gets light over the hump. It's an extreamly satisfying track to get right, and has the perfect amount of flow. Turn 12(uphill bridge) is a favorite as you can hear the echo of the exhaust for the downshift, and can take an enormous amount of speed through it for how tight it is. Plus the slightly off cambered nature creates some great opportunities for power slides when you want to have a little fun. It's a truly fantastic track with some pretty cool history. Shame the new residence are complaining about noise.
I was a spectator at Mt Tremblant / St Jovite for the opening CAN-AM race back in 1966. I remember watching Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon in their bright red MCLaren M1-Bs as they came out from under the bridge into the following left hand turn during practice. Sadly I don't remember anything of the actual race (probably my friends and I had had too much beer by then!) but I do remember the hump. Aerodynamics were in their infancy then and some cars indeed got airborn there during practice. The track sim itself looks very realistic.
I can only imagine how much production time goes into these. I recall liking this track (a bit like Road America and Road Atlanta) when someone modded it to work in Grand Prix Legends. And Mosport was a good track (a bit like Brands Hatch and Oulton Park) too. Did the original track creator in real life create any other tracks? The big advantage in Assetto Corsa is the availability of cars, tracks, and full racing series add-ons for sure.
This track and these cars have become a go to for me. Anyone who wants to learn throttle control, this is the place to practice and learn. Amazing car and track mod people, 👏
I really hope someday we get episodes on the long abandoned and ripped up tracks in Alberta, such as Edmonton International Raceway (not to be confused with the oval in Wetaskiwin or Castrol Raceway by the airport), and Race City Motorsports Park in Calgary.
I "raced" on that circuit years ago back in the days when Porsha was giving week-end driving sessions to the owner of their cars. Thanks. Great circuit and Circuit Projet Circuit did a stellar rendering of it.
The circuit map shows that this is a flowing track, but no circuit map can do justice compared to actually driving the track. There are a lot of elevation changes, which adds to the challenge of mastering the place. And this is definitely a challenging circuit, especially when the first significant turn of the lap happens at Turn Three - so, no Turn 1 meme here. I like this circuit. Thanks for showing it to us.
It's a huge shame this track doesn't see any big events. I've been lucky to race there a few times. The last time I was there my spot in the paddock was right on a lake!
I'd love to read a book on racing by you. You speak just so wonderfully in your intros. This one in particular, with the windows of history becoming ever narrower, really struck me. Fire shit brah. 🔥
Was just about to say "this is not Mont Tremblant" then realised getting confused with Trois Riveirs (sic), Canadian circuits, only know Mosport and not sure about that! And only reason know Three Rivers is 'cos where Villenueve made his name impressing Hunt.
Probably not, as long as you don't have some very high-end laptop. I mean, okay, I don't have the best GPU in mine, but on my laptop AC doesn't want to run this track...
I think this is one of your best video’s. Takes me back to seeing all the Can Am news from my AutoWeek Subscription and trips to the Glen. You have captured the time despite your youth.
I very much hope the Racing is life pack (where the McLaren is from) gets a update eventually, as the lola t80 doesn't work at all, and all the cars are missing wipers. All of the other packs they've done are incredible!
Every once in a while, I remember Mont Tremblant exists and openly wonder how the bloody hell there aren't several different racing series with race dates there. I've checked, and while the place doesn't have anywhere near the facilities (read: laboratories) necessary for F1's temperamental spaceships, IndyCar would do just fine. *_SOMEONE GET PENSKE ON THE PHONE._*
I really enjoyed this video. Especially, the history lesson during the introduction. I am quite impressed with the driving as well. I could not keep that kind of car on the track while being competitive.
Fun fact: the current owner of the track is Lawrence Stroll. If you're on track when the helicopter lands, its time to get off because its Daddy Stroll's turn Edit: Ah, I see you mention him in the video
Great video. I remember the first-time watching a race Canadian F2000 series race from Mont Tremblant on TV. In the early 1990's on Sports Channel. I felt wow, that's a great track. Also, the documentary you were talking about with James Garner is called Once Upon a Wheel. I got that on VHS tape. Plus, I remember ChampCar racing there in 2007 when Robert Doornbos won beating Bourdais in the wet. I think IndyCar should be racing there instead of Toronto.
Another fantastic video GPL. I'd love a video on the Vancouver Molson indy. It's sorely missed as a motorsports fan of the area and formula E is planning a race at part of the old circuit.
It's really awesome to finally see some love for this really amazing track! I had gone to see a race there when I was younger! Also, as always, really good video!
Hey there, regular viewer of the content but man i got to say i was on the edge of my seat for this race. As usual, great knowledge, racing and overall top class commenting
Great vid! Love this place, used to race F1'71 & CART'98 around here in rfactor. This version is gorgeous. One of my top 4 underused road circuits along with Eastern Creek, Oulton Park (sans chicanes) & Sugo.
this is such an amazing track and for me an absolute joy to drive with all its challenging nature, hope main competitions return to this track but i know that would take some effort from Daddy Stroll, let's see if he does just that, i can only hope
Hello GPLaps :) . I love your content work in your videos! I want to say thanks for all the hard work and dedication that you put into all your videos! Great content as usual. Perhaps for a future video you can talk about which car mods are your favorite from each era, sportscars, open wheelers, stock, touring and rally from the 60s, 70s etc. Doesn't need to be the most realistic but it could be the most fun to drive with FFB wheel
Great content as always Jake. It seems the cars drive "heavier" than their 1,500-pound weight would suggest. Did you sense that while actually behind the wheel?

@GPLaps can you hel me out a bit i've downloaded power and glory mod for gtr2 but I'm a little worried of installing it alongside other mods, it is ok to do it so or is it better to take a clean install of the game?
Hi! I'm the creator of Mt-Tremblant 69. You did great with this video, very nicely done with clever camera shots to present the surroundings. I was smiling all along. You really did a magnificent job, bravo
Thanks for your outstanding work! Can't wait to try it with some 60s cars in the weekend.
I've been following your WIP blog for a year or more now. Great to see it finally release!
Loving your mod! It's one of the best tracks I've raced in a while!
Thanks Patrice for all the dedication over the years :)

My dad used to race at Westwood back in the day. It's a shame we lost it to a housing development, how very Vancouver.
its owned by Lawrence Stroll so I'd like to think it's pretty safe
@@Tomtown007 He did list it for sale as of recent, but he's rescinded the offering. So let's hope he has plans to bring it back to full international racing glory.

Mont Tremblant is one of the most underrated tracks in the world. One of my favourites, and surely deserves to be celebrated more!
This track does make an appearance on GRiD Autosport, and is one of my favorite tracks on the game.

il y a a juste un mot FANTASTIQUE, pour avoir couru sur cette piste dans les années 70👍

The gold standard of SIM racing videos. A great tribute to the circuit, it's history and the efforts of the modder who has recreated it.
C.Amon's racing career "poised for victory and disaster just around the corner". Another amazing video @GPLaps.
Yeah, this looks absolutely great.

Thank you for sharing this amazing track, it was the only one left in order to reproduce a somewhat faithful 1970 f1 season👍
Could you list all the circuits for that season please?
I downloaded this about 4 or 5 days being amazed how little it changed from 69 to now but like all things it was so much more alive and colorful then. Great video like always, and thank you for keeping history in the forefront of this hobby
I've downloaded the track yesterday and immediately thought that GPLaps will do a great video about it
I know this track only because of the Canadian kids show that was on VHS called "Mighty Machines" where they featured a Formula Vee type series here.

You're the David Attenborough of sim racing. Amazing passion. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I appreciate your work over the years.
Greatest track I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Lucky to live less than an hour from this place.
I have vague memories of watching Grand Am races here on TV, it was a lovely track

Micra Cup ran here until the series ended, it was always fun watching tiny hatchbacks sending it through these corners

When this track first got uploaded to race department I knew you where going to make a vid on it, can’t wait to watch it al!
This is an enjoyable track! The modern layout isn’t all that different from the original. Great race by the way!
It's a huge shame this track doesn't see any big events. I've been lucky to race there a few times. The last time I was there my spot in the paddock was right on a lake!

I'm happy to report that 1980s F1 cars can handle this track in its extended form.
tested on RF1 with labombarda's 1983-84 mod
Was just about to say "this is not Mont Tremblant" then realised getting confused with Trois Riveirs (sic), Canadian circuits, only know Mosport and not sure about that! And only reason know Three Rivers is 'cos where Villenueve made his name impressing Hunt.
Looks like a great circuit for some historic touring car racing. Will have to give it a go, so long as my little laptop can handle the scenery.
Probably not, as long as you don't have some very high-end laptop. I mean, okay, I don't have the best GPU in mine, but on my laptop AC doesn't want to run this track...
What can I say? As always an absolute joy to watch and a feast for the eyes! Amazing video 👏🏁🍾
It's really cool how you can find all of these hidden jems, that make awesome races to watch
I think this is one of your best video’s. Takes me back to seeing all the Can Am news from my AutoWeek Subscription and trips to the Glen. You have captured the time despite your youth.

Great video, and TERRIFIC RACE !!!!
thanks man... :)

Another great video, looks like so much fun. I will certainly be having a go at this. Big up to the circuit creator too.
I'm happy to learn that Mont-Tremblant still exists!
In the early 70s, my brother ran Mont Tremblant in his Bobsy-Porsche. He pronounced it "tricky."
I really enjoyed this video. Especially, the history lesson during the introduction. I am quite impressed with the driving as well. I could not keep that kind of car on the track while being competitive.
Fun fact: the current owner of the track is Lawrence Stroll. If you're on track when the helicopter lands, its time to get off because its Daddy Stroll's turn

Another fantastic video GPL. I'd love a video on the Vancouver Molson indy. It's sorely missed as a motorsports fan of the area and formula E is planning a race at part of the old circuit.
Best classic sim racing channel out there
It's really awesome to finally see some love for this really amazing track! I had gone to see a race there when I was younger! Also, as always, really good video!
This video was next level. One of your best. Fantastic writing, research and presentation.

Fantastic narration and images; this is one of your best historic racing videos!
I had never heard of this track until I saw this It is a beautiful track and a great video. Many thanks :-).
this is such an amazing track and for me an absolute joy to drive with all its challenging nature, hope main competitions return to this track but i know that would take some effort from Daddy Stroll, let's see if he does just that, i can only hope
il y a a juste un mot FANTASTIQUE👍👍👍
Love the intro, another wonderful job.
Hello GPLaps :) .
I love your content work in your videos! I want to say thanks for all the hard work and dedication that you put into all your videos!
The knowlege and undertanding that you have of racing history is impressive!
I want to let you know that me and my friend we found out that there is a setting on Custom Shaders Patch under Extentions \ Car Instruments that if you really disable the function - Use Accurate Tachometers - .... actually they work properly while racing onboard... they don't flicker or get rpm lag like is show on this video! ;)
Keep up the great passionate work that you do! :D
Thanks for the compliments, glad you enjoy!
The Tachometer movement is accurate to how the tachometer moved in a lot of cars of this time period. They are called a "chronometric" tachometer and worked via electric impulse, so the movement was only updated every second or so
Not so useful for understanding your RPM but accurate to the cars of this time!
@@GPLaps oh ok... Really!? I didnt knew that at all! My bad hehehe ignorance. Thanks man
Great video... Respect for your passion for classic racing. Assetto Corsa, while not perfect is a great platform for all types of driving
That blind uphill hairpin is a thrill to go through.
i have been playing this track all day nice timing
I always love driving this track in grid autosport
Is there any chance for you to make a retro Indy 500 race in the next couple weeks? It would be great to learn more about the early ages of the brickyard ❤
one of your masterpieces.
The only better way to finish a long day would be to actually do the driving! Very, very cool @GPLaps!
great vid!! like it a lot :)
It is a fun track. It and Mosport are like rivals and Mosport had the advantage of being less off the beaten path. I think Le Circuit however is the more fun one to drive (I live 25 minutes from Mosport so it hurts saying that) ...not sure if makes for better racing
Me: whoa that’s sorta like the corvette bridge
GP: reminds me a lot of Road America
Great content as usual. Perhaps for a future video you can talk about which car mods are your favorite from each era, sportscars, open wheelers, stock, touring and rally from the 60s, 70s etc. Doesn't need to be the most realistic but it could be the most fun to drive with FFB wheel
Cheers from Québec !
I'm starting to feel like this Lawrence Stroll guy actually has some passion for the motorsport
Tellement chouette 🏁👌 Somebody's gotta do a fall colours mod for that track. It's GORGEOUS up there at that time of year. 🍁🍂
There will be an update eventually with fall colors. Cheers!
Amazing! Great work @Projet Circuit 👍👍
Awesome race. Thanks for sharing
Fantastic job, love the intro.
You should definitely give Calabogie Motorsports park a go. Such a great track. 🤙
Great content as always Jake. It seems the cars drive "heavier" than their 1,500-pound weight would suggest. Did you sense that while actually behind the wheel?
Tremblant is such a nice place, even outside of racing. You can ski, hike, kayak, kart.
Too bad there is no big event going on anymore aside from small race goibg under the radar every year.
Awesome work! Thanks.
4:37 all you had to say was "Chris Amon" and we already knew how it was going to end
love to see more vids on can am one of my favorite series of this era
another marvellous materpiece there. Thanks Jake!
Do you have a link to the documentary of Mr. Gardeners F5000 adventures that you have mentioned?
Great track, great cars
Feels somewhat like Lime Rock...
Great video, as usual! :)
did my driving school here in 1997. If AC has a 1987 F2000 car then I will be all over this mod :) Thanks!!
Whenever you come to visit, let us know! 👍
Awesome video!
Pretty sad im a Canadian racing nut and didnt know this! TBF Im an oval dude. ALSO I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! OMFG THEY ARE LIKE MOIVES
as an iracer, this video makes me want to get into assetto corsa
Mont Tremblant is a really unique track. Not gonna lie
Man, I'd get AC just for this carset, the Can-Am mod available on rFactor was rather underdone and I've been craving it badly. Why haven't we seen Richie Axelson doing any Can-Am?
@GPLaps can you hel me out a bit i've downloaded power and glory mod for gtr2 but I'm a little worried of installing it alongside other mods, it is ok to do it so or is it better to take a clean install of the game?
