I thought everything about Fury was a very good war film, very realistic tank battles, up until the last 10 minutes of the movie where they held off an entire batallion, then it went Hollywood.
Some scenes were ok but Brad Pitt pretty much played Aldo Raine from Inglorious Bastards and was a bit much. The ending with one disabled tank taking out an entire SS battalion was just too silly
SS was not Wehrmacht. But yes, it's absurd, that seasoned SS veterans can't take out a single immobilized M4 tank without getting hammered. It's just stupid and far from reality. And Das Boot is by far the BEST war movie ever made.
I think one of the absolute best wwii shows was a German miniseries/series about 4 friends before during and after the war called Generation War. I think a couple of the friends didn’t make it thru the war and it shows two of them meeting back up after it was over. Very unique perspectives and very compelling. It shows a movie doesn’t have to come from Hollywood to be great. Highly recommend it.
This needs to make your list, folks.... "All the Light We Cannot See". A tremendous 4 part series starring Hugh Laurie (House) and Mark Ruffalo; the story is about a blind French teenaged girl and a German soldier whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of WW II. Excellent acting, great story ! Don't miss this one... 5 out of 5 stars for me !! Also on Netflix...
I have become addicted to all types of foreign (non USA) movies on Netflix. I have been so amazed with these films and I especially like the filming aspect compared to Hollywood films. Hollywood films give me a headache with all of the unnecessary and excessive fake camera shake and switching camera views 7 times in 10 seconds which I rarely see on Non-USA movies.
That's because every American movie lately now has Hitler as a gay black man, Henry VIII as a trans confused teenager and Caesar Augustus as a women trapped in the body of a male undocumented asylum seeker.

How do you not include Memphis Belle, The Enemy Below, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison, PT 109, The Great Escape and hundreds more? To say Saving Private Ryan was the best is a tad presumptuous. The Longest Day, a Bridge Too Far, Bridge Over the River Kwai , etc etc etc...
Narvik was excellent. You list some great war films on Netflix currently. Some of my favorite war films (not necessarily on Netflix) include: WWII- Guns of Navarone and Twelve O'clock High (Gregory Peck is truly outstanding in both) Sink the Bismark (still my favorite maritime war film) Kelly's Heroes (war time comic relief with the likes of Clint Eastwood, Don Rickles, Donald Sutherland and Telly Savalas) Patton (Oscar winning classic) Sands of Iwo Jima Greyhound (another epic maritime picture) Das Boot The Enemy Below (R. It is probably not on Netflix, but how can any list of excellent World War Ii movies not include “12 o’clock high?” It features excellent acting and an accurate outline of the tragedy of so many losses by the eighth Air Force during 1942 and 1943. Not only that, but it’s probably the only war movie that features some really excellent music.
Unfortunately not on Netflix, the movie "Come and See" is a very DARK thriller loosely based on history. This cinematography and realism are extraordinary. This is WW2 in occupied Russia.
"Come and See" is now on youtube, courtesy of "Mosfilm". I think the Russians are using "soft diplomacy" by releasing some good films. Another gem they posted is "Dersu Uzala" a fantastic Kurosawa film shot in Siberia during the cold war
My personal top 5 World War Two films: -1: A midnight clear (1992) / Battle of the Ardennes seen as a psychological battle of the soldiers in a Belgian Chateau. -2: The Young Lions (1958) / Marlon Brando and Dean Martin (🪖) play a German and an American officer who fight towards each other. -3: Breakthrough / (1979) Richard Burton returns as German Sergeant Steiner and will fight his last battle in 1944 Normandy. -4: Escape to Athena (1979) / War adventure on a Greek sun-drenched island With an all star cast including Telly Savalas and Roger Moore. -5: Codename Emerald (1985) / War espionage story set just before D-Day. The Gestapo has captured an American who has information about the overrun operation. (This is my personal top 5 ladies & gentlemen).🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🏴☠🔴⚪🔵
The vack story to the Bombardment is the Dutch Resistance asked the RAF to bomb the Gestapo Headquarters, which unfortunately was located in the Shell building beside the school To their ongoing credit the Danes never blamed the RAF for what happened
Thank you, great video. I'll definitely watch a few of these films although I don't have Netflix. I would say that in my opinion one of the best war films is The Cruel Sea.
Heartily agree with your choice of "The Forgotten Battle". Anyone who hasn't seen it should do so right away. And as user 111oooo mentions below, it was mostly Canadian troops assaulting the Germans. This battle allowed the vital port of Rotterdam to be taken.
Das Boot from early 1990s (German) is an epic WWII movie about submarine warfare. Come and See from 1985 (Soviet) deals with psycology of civilians what the great war had made them into..
Iam missing a lot of titles: "Play Dirty" (1968) "SAS rogue Heroes" ( 2022 BBC warseries) "Der Hauptmann" (2017 ) "Stalingrad" (2013) "How i won the war" (1967) . Check those out buddy's.
I have seen the two Dutch moves featured here and they are excellent. A remark regarding the Resistance Banker, try to see the version with the subtitles, not the dubbed one. I don't know which one Netflix features but movies in original langues with subtitles are always better in my opinion. I am looking forward to see the Norwegian and Danish movies. WWII movies have improved so much over the years.
One of my favourites is Cross of Iron an oldie but goldie superb cast at the top of their game, showing warfare in the Eastern front at its brutal reality from the German point of view....
Hate to start an argument, but you mentioned "Saving Private Ryan" as the best WWII movie. I couldn't let that rest. I think "The Longest Day" is better. Germans playing Germans, Americans playing Americans, Brits playing Brits, French play French. All speaking their own languages. And many scenes filmed on the same locations where they really happened. If you watch "The Longest Day" first, you will see where Spielberg got lot of inspiration for his movie.
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿"The Bridge at Remagen" from 1969 was good, but my favorite was the film "Counterpoint" from 1968. Schell and Diffring and Charlton Heston in a castle during the Battle of the Ardennes. Chillingly exciting.🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
A crazy thing about the war movie Narvik was that it was set to play in cinemas in Norway 25th of December 2021, but theen it got delayed due to covid, but then when it was supposed to play in the spring of 2022 it got delayed AGAIN due to the invasion of Ukraine, and then it was finally released in cinemas 25th of December 2022, a whole YEAR after its intended release date.
I’ve seen most of these, but not the nummer one. So I will now. But to all of you that are not from the Netherlands, try Riphagen. A dutch film, chilling and brutally honest. And offcourse the banker. Dutch WWII films are worth the watch (remember Soldier of Orange and Black Book). Go and see them all.
The Forgotten Battle - the clearing of the Scheldt, so that Allied merchant ships could dock in the huge port of Antwerp - is mentioned in the Academy Award winning documentary film The True Glory, and RUclips has the excellent National Archives restored copy of that to view. Besides the Canadians, there were Norwegian troops involved, which is even more overlooked.
My fathers group was assigned to relieve Canadians who suffered heavy losses of Battle of Scheldt estuary. He helped remove mines, called it a hell hole.
I rarely watch a foreign-made movie, thank god for the close caption, my thoughts on Blood and Gold, which you can watch other than NetFlix is a mix of a Dolph Lundgren look alike and the Good, Bad, and Ugly theme music, there's so much action you almost forget that your reading. This is a great list of some very good movies on WW II. I, being a combat veteran, personally like "The Bridge over the River Kwai" and " A Bridge to Far" they both have the drama the conditions the soldiers lived in, the leadership, and In the Bridge over the Kwai, the marching song that will forever be linked to the movie.
If you could mention when the movie is captioned only. Like Griselda I kept hoping it would change and from what I watched it never did. Love reading books, hate reading movies.
One of the best war films I have seen is a little known Soviet “In war as in war”. The french translation catches it better though: A la guerre comme a la guerre. A compelling story of a crew of a Russian howitzer with beautifully portrayed characters.
Is the Last Battle on netflix, probably an old movie now but would love to see this one day as it depicts the strangest battle of WW2 and such a great novel read too.
Generation War is outstanding, really a short miniseries about some young German friends, one of which is Jewish, and their story it's superb. Another to note is Black Book about the Dutch Resistance starring Carice Van Houten, a brilliant story. A film just called Resistance about the famous mime artist and entertainer Marcel Marceau, who unbeknown to many was a hero for the French Resistance is a compelling watch also.

Unfortunately not on Netflix, the movie "Come and See" is a very DARK thriller loosely based on history. This cinematography and realism are extraordinary. This is WW2 in occupied Russia.
that is a GREAT movie
"Come and See" is now on youtube, courtesy of "Mosfilm". I think the Russians are using "soft diplomacy" by releasing some good films. Another gem they posted is "Dersu Uzala" a fantastic Kurosawa film shot in Siberia during the cold war
My personal top 5 World War Two films:
-1: A midnight clear (1992) / Battle of the Ardennes seen as a psychological battle of the soldiers in a Belgian Chateau.
My mate directed a Midnight Clear - had to believe it was filmed in Colorado
Codename Emerald is a movie with Helmut Berger vs Ed Harris , liked it much!
It is actually the atmosphere of this anti-war film that makes this film a gem.@@THEOUTCASTSCREATIVE
its an amazing film, based on a book@@paulwee1924dus
I'm so glad you're including foreign films on the list. There are so many brilliant ones that are overlooked.
Its cool to see they're bringing a lot of interesting, lesser known stories to film.
The vack story to the Bombardment is the Dutch Resistance asked the RAF to bomb the Gestapo Headquarters, which unfortunately was located in the Shell building beside the school To their ongoing credit the Danes never blamed the RAF for what happened
Amen!!!! I enjoy them more that Hollywood once I gave them a look!
Good List Telly!
"How i won the war" Mr. Imagine / Mr. John Lennon played Musketeer soldier Gripweed very nice yes.😂🙂🙂
"Where Eagles Dare" should easily be in the top 3.
Yes! Look, you're an expert!🐩
Richard Burton was hitting the Scotch bottle in that one.
Sam Peckinpah's "Cross of Iron"
The unkwon soldier is the best realistic warmovie
Counterpoint a 1968 movie taking place in Dec. 16 1944 during the beginning of the German offensive Battle of the buldge. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
In my Opinion the Imitation Game is the best WW2 movie on Netflix
Stalingrad is even better.
Battle of Midway was a good Popcorn adventure . There wasn't too much stretching of the Truth and good Camera / CGI work
Black Book (2006). Superb acting, scenes, and cinematography.
I liked Carice van Houtens wig beneath the waist. 😉
@@TellySavalas-or5hf You're a sassy boy!!
When she dyes her hair blonde. That was a nice scene.🏅🐶@@TellySavalas-or5hf
T-34 Directors Cut on Amazon Prime was good, my wife watched it all the way through 2x lol
I saw the original release and thought it absurd- less realistic than the captain america ww2 movie
SISU is a good war movie.
Thanks for the List Sir
Thank you for telling us the moives I will watch
Subscribe for Netflix recommendations every week. And let us know your favorite WW2 movies on Netflix down in the comments. Thanks for watching!
Tuntematon Sotilas - Unknown Soldier.
Better as a 5 episode miniseries.
1968 "Counterpoint" with Charlton Heston as the bandleader.
Saw all of these. Just great and need more.
Black Book is superb, hardly ever gets a mention.
Thank you for recommending 'The Bombardment'. What a beautiful movie !!
Aside from Saving Private Ryan the Resistance Banker and Forgotten Battle seemed to be the some of the most realistic war movies.
Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks 👍
Seen it all, came here to find more movies to watch but oh well.
For others looking for other movies than these
1. Greyhound
2. Schindler's list
TV series
1. Masters of the air.
2. Seal team
3. The man in the high castle
Cross of Iron - directed by Sam Peckinpah, Dark Blue World, When Trumpets Fade , The Big Red One, Shining Through, Anthropoid, A Midnight Clear 😊
I can watch saving private Ryan in the UK with no VPN
Good to see 2 Dutch movies. I think the Dutch Cinema is so underrated. Also good dutch war movies are Black Book and Solder of Orange.
GREYHOUND IS 1 OF BEST
Three older WWII films at the top of my list: The Victors, Twelve O'Clock High; The War Lover; all classics of high quality.
They were all pretty good recommendations, having seen a few of them.
I know in todays world most people understand how to use VPN's and stuff. But a walkthrough on how to set stuff likde that up for us old farts, would be a cool video to add to your channel. Dont think i know of any orher channel that helps its viewers navigate that part while trying to watch some of the movies they recommend.
And yes i know there are walkthroughs out there, just thought it would be a neat touch for those who watch your channel looking for cool movies, but might not have a clue how some of the tech stuff works.
Thought it would just be a cool perk for your channel to have 🙂
And GREAT movie suggestions so far🏆
Come and See. It is very hard to watch, but well worth it.
I like ❤that most film's The bridge, The last bridge, The last ten days, desert fox ,Battle of neretva and Das boot &enamy at the gates&Downfall 🎉
Operation Mincemeat was actually pretty good. Not action packed but got to see the strategic side to war
Added all suggestions. Thanks for your effort and hard work putting these videos together for those of us that lived with, and because of the Greatest Generation. Shalom my family in Christ!
Dang it, I've seen all these, some already on your recommendation i believe. Love the point of view from other countries regarding ww11. Keep up the good work.
totaly agree 👏👏👏👏
I liked SAS Rogue Heroes. This list is great thanks!
Castle Keep 1969 ,The Train 1964, The Memphis Bell 1990 and The Eagle has landed 1976 are excellent WW II war movies.
Great review, thanks!
" We regretfully cannot accept your surrender at this time " best line ever
A bridge too far is the greatest ww2 movie.
Dunkirk is also worth to watch I think
If you could mention when the movie is captioned only. Like Griselda I kept hoping it would change and from what I watched it never did. Love reading books, hate reading movies.
One of the best war films I have seen is a little known Soviet “In war as in war”. The french translation catches it better though: A la guerre comme a la guerre. A compelling story of a crew of a Russian howitzer with beautifully portrayed characters.
Good picks. If it was good war movies in general but not just Netflix I would have added a few
Bro thanks for your information because the last time I watched a ww2 movie is in 2022 .
Is the Last Battle on netflix, probably an old movie now but would love to see this one day as it depicts the strangest battle of WW2 and such a great novel read too.
Saw all except for resistance banker. All good viewing.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Friendship between little boy in concentration camp and son of camp commandant. Beautiful and sad.
A Bridge Too Far is superb.
