So here's the list. I tried to mix in a couple lesser known series along with the big ones. Let me know what you guys think. (included the regions in the parentheses) 10. Vikings: Valhalla (all) 9. All the Light We Cannot See (all) 8. Versailles (arg, col, spa) 7. The Crown (all) 6. The Terror (us, more) 5. Rise of Empires: Ottoman (all) 4. Marco Polo (all) 3. Black Sails (us) 2. Vikings (almost all) 1. The Last Kingdom (all)
i have watched all except Versailles, The Terror, & Black Sails in australia it was disappointing not having those 3 series isn't in australia so i downloaded versailles and watched all 3 seasons the cast the storyline it was absolutely brilliant i will be doing the same with other 2.
Additions: Outlander (Scottish history around the Jacobean Rebellion) All Quiet On The Western Front (Germany in WWI) The Empress (1800s Austria, political intrigue & love) The King (1500's England & Henry V) The Outlaw King (Robert The Bruce of Scotland) The Secret River (Australia 1810s colonialism) The Last Czars (Russia early 1900s)
Absolutely loved The Last Kingdom. The characters were well drawn, the plot was engaging and it was infused with just the right amount of humour. The last episode was gut wrenching but satisfying. Practically perfect.
“Age of Samurai;Battle for Japan” is an excellent mix of drama and documentary. There’s plenty of action, drama, and wonderful costumes and dialogue, mixed with experts on Oda Nobunaga and the unification of Japan. An absolute must see.
I thought this video must be ancient, because of your inclusion of Marco Polo, which I watched many years ago. I've just done a quick check for Australia and 7/10 are available. Those that are not are Versailles, The Terror, & Black Sails. However, in Australia: Versailles is on Apple TV. The Terror is on Apple TV, Stan, & Fetch. Black Sails is on Apple TV, Stan, & Fetch Versailles & Black Sails are also available to stream free in the OnStream app for Android and Firestick.
i have watched all except Versailles, The Terror, & Black Sails and yes it was disappointing not having those 3 series isn't in australia so i downloaded versailles and watched all 3 seasons the cast the storyline it was absolutely brilliant i will be doing the same with other 2.
Really enjoyed Marco polo ,, watched it 4 times. Black sails is really good. Banshee is a must, as is ozark. ive also enjoyed lost in space , white lines and outer banks.
ozark is trash. S1-S2 great, but after that, just drop the show, character plot lines completly forgotten, stories that went absolutly no where ( teen Wyatt in a relationship with a 70+ year old darlene, just because) its no wonder they were both killed off. The whole Blue lodge arc completly forgotten. Convulated plot lines, a terrible ending, ect. Ozark would not even hold a damn candle to breaking bad or better call saul. Plus arn't we taking about historical shows, neither of these are historical.
@@Artimes. Nice to have different tastes and views. I kept my choices to Netflix,, ive really enjoyed mandolorian , Halo , star wars rebels. Ashoka, Bad batch, ,, and of course serenity
I did read the novel the terror that was brilliant thieves of the wood is brilliant also Spartacus the best series ever I think strike back also very good pillars of the earth and the world without end
While Vikings is entertaining, calling it “historic” is a stretch in the extreme. It’s fantasy Vikings age and when it occasionally overlaps documented history it seems to be more accidental than not.
I have to agree with you on that even though I personally prefer TLK, Vikings production value and cinematography alone are just stunning! It's a much more grittier story as well. I like both series a lot and sometimes I find myself conflicted, but yes, Vikings should be No. 1 😁
I literally just finished The Terror a few minutes ago and really enjoyed it, but I doubt many other women would like it. It's really more of a guy's show. I just happen to be a woman who doesn't care for chick flicks. Okay, I pretty much hate them...but that's just me. I'm funny that way. I much prefer action/adventure films.
All the Light We Cannot See has Germans speaking perfect English. I managed to put up with it for a while, but it got really annoying. Whatever atmosphere it has is pretty much destroyed by that. Loved The Terror and Black Sails (amazing series with a dumb ending).
Genuine question… Did you have a problem with Vikings speaking English or French speaking English? Ancient Romans speaking English? Do you only shows set in foreign countries if they have subtitles?

Yes loved it and watch it again right now
Marco Polo was fantastic, great acting great story, love, seven eyes

Great recommendation!
The last Kingdom, forever in my heart!
The last Kingdom🔥🔥🔥
Just finished....❤❤ Can you tell about the last scene in which the nun is carrying a boy to bebbanburg
Seen all of these, all of them are great. I need more historical series
The Terror is outstanding. Jared Harris (Chernobyl) is stupendous in this.
Just downloaded that , will start it off tonight
It was first available on Prime video and it was fantastic
The Last Kingdom is the most overlooked TV show in history. It’s absolutely fantastic and borderline perfect.
Destiny is All
I wonder why nobody is talking about “Spartacus”. Only those who have see it knows how bloody good it was.
Thank you for bringing "versailes" to my attention and Marko Polo.

Last Kingdom is brilliant
Last Kingdom it’s the 2nd best Vikings series after Vikings Of Ragnar.. 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Really enjoyed Marco polo ,, watched it 4 times. Black sails is really good. Banshee is a must, as is ozark. ive also enjoyed lost in space , white lines and outer banks.

Yeah I read The Terror too. Loved it. Series was well done too.
Spartacus season one is a must watch classic
The terror
Barbarians was also a very good series as well beautiful story as well

Rise of empires was absolutely fantastic
all done
thanks😀
Honestly I feel Vikings should be #1 and the last kingdom #2
I wouldn't argue with that.
I have to agree with you on that even though I personally prefer TLK, Vikings production value and cinematography alone are just stunning! It's a much more grittier story as well. I like both series a lot and sometimes I find myself conflicted, but yes, Vikings should be No. 1 😁
last kingdom is 'movie' worthy - extremely well written
I agree wid you Vikings is the best 🔥🔥⚔️
I second that 😁👍

You forgot my fav: Shōgun 😳

Borgia
TLK is the best!!!!
GOT 😢
K
Versailles is not on netflix bro
Not in Your Country Bro
Marco Polo 😢what a lost
Now watch those about to die
Calling any of these series history is a bit of a stretch, especially the ones about Vikings and Nazis.
It is not realistic when German and French (etc) people speak English. For me a no go.
Unfortunately Netflix have ruined most historical series with their woke quotas!
