I have had this box for a while now and it works great! The picture is also great! I have a gut feeling you’re doing something wrong.just play around with it for a while. because I have a smart TV also and do not have this issue.

If i upgrade from the mini genies to this does the wiring all work as in can i unplug from the back of the mini and use the same wires just to plug in and go?

I'm confused. If I have a Amazon Fire tv that gives me all the apps or allows me to get whatever apps I want, and I have voice input and I can watch Direct TV Stream using the app, what advantage do I have using the Gemini box?

@@GodisGreatt Same box--except the Gemini runs the Genie software......Dtv Stream has its own software. Hope they bring that Genie software to my Dtv Stream box
I have DirecTV streaming devices on an Android box and Fire Stick, they work fine. I bought a G71KW-400 so I can go to the channels directly instead of scrolling but I keep getting Code 201. I logged out of the other devices and logged back in successfully except this crazy DirecTV streaming device. Any suggestion?
So the Gemini is running the same software that's on the Genie? Gemini looks exactly like my Directv Stream box. I hope they put that software on the boxes for Dtv Stream

This is from DirectTV themselves...Can I use a Gemini by itself? For customers connecting to DIRECTV service via satellite, Gemini cannot receive DIRECTV programming or respond to DVR commands without being connected to the Genie. For customers connecting to DIRECTV service via Internet, no other device is required.
you blew it when you said you were going to swap out genie for this one and NOT what instruction say to do at all and when I did what you said it's hooked up but TV won't come on and NOTHING is happening. that was the whole reason I was watching to see how you swapped out the units and you simply blew right by it.
Right! I can't find any videos or instructions on how to swap out a Genie Mini for a wired Gemini with Genie 2 DVR. Is it simply plug in the Gemini in the exact same way the Mini was? I want to install it myself but without instructions, I don't want to try it.
I don’t know what a new DIRECTV Genie HD-DVR with Gemini firmware included and the Gemini Voice Remote could look like.
One thing: Since this wouldn’t be based on the Genie 2, it can also support older HD-DVRs.
I have thought of this as bringing back the original model of DVRs used until the HR54, where the big DVR receiver (in this case, this new DIRECTV Genie DVR I am thinking of with Gemini firmware installed) would be the main box for the Whole Home DVR system and also allow non-client boxes to work.
I mean, it would basically have 2TB of DVR storage, around 6-10 tuners, the Gemini Voice Remote, Gemini firmware installed, and what else.
Because this doesn’t have a Wireless Video Bridge inside the DVR itself due to the fact that it brings back the original model, if more Gemini’s are included in a customer's install, then either a separate Wireless Video Bridge or Ethernet Coax Adapter would also be included.
Maybe if the H26K is rolled out to residential customers, they can also upgrade it to have Gemini firmware and also work with the new DIRECTV Genie HD-DVR that has Gemini firmware installed.
Does that Gemini box have "tuners" like the Genie box? I think the Genie has like 5-6 tuners (buffers)
No. They’re clients that connect wirelessly to either a Genie 2 or Genie with Wireless Video Bridge.
That’s the old box for Direct TV Stream. I was using that one for 2 years. The new one looks like the google dongle that plug into the hdmi port
That's what we call the GEMINI AIR. looks like a dongle plug at hdmi directly so it can be out of sight

FINALLY, they added the satellite feeds to the DirectvStream platform. I was waiting YEARS for this, I wonder if the tv app works with the satellite feeds
How is this an upgrade from the direct TV stream box? Features look the same accept now you can do 4k with the box. Other than that looks exactly the same as the DirecTV stream box. Don't know what's different between that and the DirecTV via internet option and the Gemini box
If you have a non Smart TV, you can now utilize Apps like Netflix, HBOMAX, Paramount, etc. through Gemini. Prior to this, or with Genie, you could only hdmi dongle, TiVo, cast, or mickey mouse to access your streaming accounts.
@@GodisGreatt this is not true because I have a direct TV stream box and I can access all my streaming apps and all my cable channels. The DirecTV stream box is what they offered before the new Gemini box. The genie is what was offered with DirecTV satellite
@@shortydaniel1okay, this video was intended for audiences upgrading from Genie. I misread your question and was not specific enough to make the point about the Genie. You’re absolutely right about the stream box, but the Gemini is newly marketed to Genie users. TFS!
Does the new Gemini replace my existing HR-54 Genie? Or does it take the place of the 4K mini client?
If it’s stand alone how many tuners or maybe better phrased does it record to the cloud and how many channels can it record simultaneously?Also in this scenario what happens to the other two places where I have 4k mini clients that pull their signal by using a tuner from my HR-54 Genie 1?

The Gemini receiver still needs the Genie receiver. It doesn't work without the server (in case of the satellite DIRECTV). Therefore, it only replaces the client or the Genie mini.
I don't see the need for Gemini when Sony Bravia offers same apps ability?
You mention "add client to the top of the tower". What tower? I have a directv dvr in one room and a satellite in another. Don't see any tower. Do I have have genie? This is confusing.
The "tower" is the Genie 2 DVR, if you don't have DVR capability then you won't have the tower.
Problem is that it's powered by Android. Rather have Direct Tv Stream through Roku for less time between actual live and stream time.

Yes. You need wifi or high speed internet connection
I would love it if the DirecTV Stream version of this box had the full Genie-style interface.
The Gemini box is the Dtv Stream box, with different software (Genie) They are combining the two services starting April 6--I hope they put the Genie (Gemini) software on our Dtv Stream boxes.
Do you think they will be up dating existing DirecTV stream boxes with the genie software just like the genie is

@@greghatfield2476 Directv is selling the so called Gemini's through the Directv Stream account. Since they offer 14 days to ship them back I attempted to order one and see what I would get. They are still shipping out old ATT Osprey devices from 2020. All they are doing it renaming the boxes as Gemini's and false advertising.
I'm confused, will I be able to sign in to the new Gemini box using my Directtv Stream account like with my Osprey box or is this new Gemini box only for directv satellite users?

I quit DTV after 28 years today because they would not send me one of these.
The 4K solution is what I was after so I could stream the 4K channels and not have to hardwire a genie mini for channels DTV offers in 4K.
They let me walk which is so infuriating that they didn't give a damn.
All of my equipment is going back and all billing has stopped as of today.
Just FYI-I have been a beta tester for them for years.
These Gemini boxes have been spread nationally but I am not "the correct customer type to receive yet".

I thought the new GEMINI was not to replace the older GENIE but to work in conjunction with it. I think you did this wrong...anybody??
Problem is, too many things are called Genie, the Genie mini is a client off the the Genie 2 DVR. The Gemini would replace a Genie Mini and still connect to the Genie 2. Confusing.
Direct tv stream and U verse tv should merge together
DIRECTV stream is the replacement for U-Verse TV. U-Verse has been phased out by AT&T.
