Inspiring story. I admire your sense of adventure. You did more in three days than most people do in a whole year. Alex, Matt, and Tom Tom are some good dudes too. Your positive attitude and perseverance made for some great stories that you will be telling your grandkids one day. You won't ever forget the winter of '23. I love the older Toyota trucks too! Safe travels
Matt just seems like such a good dude. And Holly is one of my new favorites too! Nobody has the drone shots like u tho... i loved the river shots u got. KILLER!
On the Weber 32/36 or 38/38’s. Make sure the floats are set correctly. Also, if it’s cutting out at a higher RPM. The choke might not be fully open. Hope it gets squared away! Good luck!
There's nothing better than that feeling when you finally get annoying gremlin repaired on your rig. I'm currently dealing with some electrical issues on my TJ and I know it's something really simple but I just need to find it
I Loved this video Marvin. I have a 1982 toyota 4x4 pickup that bought brand new in 82. I've been through all the things you're going through right now just to to keep her going !
I have a 89 model Toyota, called Hilux here in Australia but it's a twin cab, had a Holden 253 small engine V8 it's on 15 inch rims, would only sit on 140km/h , about 80 mph ,hope you enjoy yours as much as I do, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
I've made that trip and it's a beautiful drive. I wish I would have done it in a 1st Gen yota though like you're doing it. Your rig reminds me of mine when I first bought it.
Jerome and twin falls are basically the same area they're twenty-two miles apart but Burley which is just a few miles more down the road from Jerome is a hum of yankum ropes
I had a 1979 Toyota 4wd long bed until it rusted out in the late 1990s. I put a 1972 ford pinto carburetor on it, in the mid 1980s, basically a weber clone. The original carburetor was a mess to rebuild. My only problem was the electric fuel pump in the tank, ( I am surprised it had a mechanicle pump) and the roll over fuel cut off switch. I did a couple of 3 weeks on the road trips with it. Lots of fun!
The carb in this thing is a Weber! It drove so well since I left sand hollow. I feel like now we got it all working right and all the gremlins are gone!
@Flex, Rocks & Rollovers The weber are great carburetors. Far superior than the original Japanese carbs. The Japanese built great engines but the carburetors were a mess! I'm glad you got it sorted out! I really loved mine, but rust gradually consumed it, when the frame buckled it got retired.
I bought a 1980 Toyota pickup long bed new and drove it for 15 years. Abused it beyond normal use haling over weight loads of wood. Still love the stile of the old straight axil Toyota.✌
Subscribed because of the Toyota. I have a 1980 that I took on a 6 week road-trip to every state west of Texas. I also have the Chevy ignition mod on my truck.
Awesome! Glad to have you! We’ll have a lot more Toyota content coming! Check out the last 2 videos… but again, there will be more. Also - check out the last 24 Hell & Back in New Hampshire (5 Part series) it has a super dope first gen in it
Also if your using a webber carburetor they only max want 3psi of fuel pressure. The factory fuel pump puts out way more, so they ask for you to install a fuel regulator so you can turn down the pressure.
Funny I drove a 1980 Toyota pick up from South Carolina to Arizona in 1994, it was about the same condition as this one but the only issue I had a was a bad alternator……oh and a issue with a a guy in Shreveport, LA. @3am that claimed he wanted to “help me out” but I think he was going to kill me if I did indeed hop in his truck, he was WAY shady! …..I will never forget that night!
Man i live right on the Alabama Georgia line on I-85. I need to catch y'all in a park near us and wheel with y'all! Love ur channel! Awesome change of pace for u going from tons & 42s to the Yota. Cool truck tho. I've always loved that body style
Matt is an expert at running out of gas!!🤣 That was a rough trip after leaving Nate's Dirt Lifestyle place... Can't believe everything that had happened up to this point. Hope the trip gets better!!
Noticed that it has a exposed air filter I suspect the carberator icing up. If that is what is happening, when you stop the engine heat melts the ice and everything is normal
Nothing like rowing gears in a 40 year old Toyota that on a good day has may 50hp going to the wheels. 3RZ swap would be an awesome upgrade. Or 5VZ. I love the 20/22’s, but the newer engines are so much more fun to drive when you can pull grades at 70.
Check the fuel tank venting. The *clug* *clug* *clug* when you were draining the tank is what makes me think the vent is an issue, since the tank wasn't getting enough air into it. That also matches the symptoms that it only slows down when under load for awhile. In stop and go traffic, the restricted venting has time to catch up without pulling a vacuum on the fuel tank. I'm just a keyboard warrior diagnosing via an edited video, so I could be completely wrong, but the tank not draining smoothly jumped out at me.
The carbs are not that good, better of fitting the after market fuel injection system, it makes it drive like new, the dizzy did not look good rusty maybe the mechanical advance is seized which could cause the fault. That big soft shackle looks like the right size for Matt off road and Heavy D's crew.
This may be controversial, but that curry wurst looks like the worst. It may be the curry worst! You might get injured for calling that a curry wurst in my neck of the woods. Also, drinking beer from cologne... Well, it is only ok, if you are in cologne and there's nothing else on tap. Great videos, came here after the Offroad Wrecker Games, great hosting, really enjoyed your videos!
Great stuff... would it be possible to have non-music episodes... it gets hard to hear ya speak... not to mention playing @2x speed, makes the music even more distracting... lol Cheers!
Ya got snow on the tires 😐 Toyotas hate ❄️. And your underbody driveshaft was wobbling at the body U joint. Fuel line running down between the body and the frame the brake line rusts out and that was due to rocks packing up between the body and the bed along the back tires ?
Matt would be an expert on what it feels like when something is running outta gas lol
Yes he does! 😆
Came here just for that!😂
That was a great episode! Can’t wait to see what the rest of your journey looks like 😊🤘🏻

Peck bros are pretty fun o watch
What a great find! Thanks for sharing!

Matt is always such a standup guy. Your were extremely lucky to run in to him.
I Loved this video Marvin. I have a 1982 toyota 4x4 pickup that bought brand new in 82. I've been through all the things you're going through right now just to to keep her going !
Great content guys. A big thanks to Matt for helping you. Really like the truck, thanks for sharing 😊.
I had the same truck named rattlecan. Loved that truck.
That was awesome! Looking forward to the rest of this story. Thank you for sharing.

Loved seeing Alex from PeckBrothers again. Can’t wait for their new video to drop whenever that may be
Good job on giving this legend the trip it deserves
I have owned a 81 long bed 4x4. This video resonates.
Glad it got running safely.
I've made that trip and it's a beautiful drive. I wish I would have done it in a 1st Gen yota though like you're doing it. Your rig reminds me of mine when I first bought it.
Dude I absolutely love your truck. We need to get back together soon and wheel.
Matt's off road is the best
Jerome and twin falls are basically the same area they're twenty-two miles apart but Burley which is just a few miles more down the road from Jerome is a hum of yankum ropes
Such a awesome video!! We can’t wait to watch the rest of your trip!
Man, I love those peck-brother boys!
Freaking love that truck! I had one just like it in 1998. I was a moron for selling it. Wished I could find another one
Just spoke with Shawn last week! Two shafts on the way to GA!
Perfect!!!
Excited to see the Yota hit the trails!
Stay tuned for this evenings video then 🤘

This was such a great episode!
Thanks Nick!! Glad you enjoyed it!

Idk about everyone else, but I actually really enjoyed this video!
Reminds me of my old Wagoneer 😂 lots of “fun” fixing EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME
That thing is sick!!!
Matt saves the day again!
make sure your air filter is tight and in good shape, dont let the air box is secure too might help.
There’s my hero Rory ☝️👍
He’s the man!!
Great job as MC at the Wrecker Games.
Check fuses for wipers and or wiring in to fuse box usually is loose and I just reach down and tap the box a few time and wipers come back

I run a fuel regulator for that carb, about 4 psi maybe too much gas also timing pòssible
Yeah timing was way off
i call it 50 footer from 50 feet looks great
Nope ... Cant say i feel it .... Feels smooth from here
I think the first thing I'd check would be the fuel filter...probably clogged.??
I think it’s so cool the Matt went out for a drive to diagnose. 🛻🪨⛰🌳🌲🐐
Like this new videos with a toyota!!! Siiiick truck!
I love toyotas I got a 79 I drive daily.
Wish I could help out!!!! Stop by northern cali
A bad ground what it seems ive added a ground strap an got that problem to go away
I’ve been looking into the everlast multi process welders. Would love to see a review compared to the miller multimatic
Jerome my hometown say go ahead twin falls and then head south down to the Sand hollow area then head east out of the snow

I failed to mention that this was by far the most awful looking Curry Wurst I’ve ever seen 😂😂 IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THAT 😂😂
Great stuff... would it be possible to have non-music episodes... it gets hard to hear ya speak... not to mention playing @2x speed, makes the music even more distracting... lol
Cheers!
If Matt is an expert on anything its running out of gas...
You can't name it anything but "Betty White"
Have a radiator shop clean out your tank. Until you do you’re gonna keep clogging fuel filters 4:29
I’d be willing to bet a dollar that your fuel tank has a ton of sediment in it and when your throttle is wide open it’s starving it of fuel 11:49
3000 miles? that's quite a long haul for any toyota, regardless of age, condition, or how many miles may be on it
Almost 3300 actually 😁
Please put rock slider on before you tottal the cab and bed.
Nice 👌
Call the truck Cookies and Cream.
I live in Boise area and love prost
Call the Toyota white buffalo
Call it ( Joy Ride )
After All you have done so far,
It Should be a Joy to Ride..🙏😎👍
amazing
You should name it crusty mc,crust face
Pour HEAT into the gas tank. Unbelievable what it does for these old Toyotas.
I actually did that on the same day I emptied 5 gallons out of my tank.
Ya got snow on the tires 😐 Toyotas hate ❄️. And your underbody driveshaft was wobbling at the body U joint. Fuel line running down between the body and the frame the brake line rusts out and that was due to rocks packing up between the body and the bed along the back tires ?
Toyotas - 4cylinder - timing belt -replacement
Ein Kölner 😅 Ja Reissdorf.
Crusty & old!!! Named her Betty White. 😅
Needs a Holley sniper get rid of that carb and go fuel injection
I know it's for your video but no twin falls is not 10 miles away from drone it is 22 miles how do I know this it's my hometown and my birthplace
It was just a bad guess! I had to drive all over for parts and didn’t take the straight route so it was hard to guess
@@FlexRocksRollovers well that's okay because everybody thinks about 10 miles
If you want to go overland use a 4x4, if you want to come back use a Toyota
Needs efi!
Call it toy no yota
Everybody riding Matt's coattails
If you did all work why street tires you would of put diggers on it you would of drove circles around 4door school buses you went wheeling with
I'm glad you made it, and the issue was fixed. I bet that was pretty intense driving. Awesome!
Let’s hope it’s fixed! I’m about to find out as I’m Continuing my trip today!
@Flex, Rocks & Rollovers Good Luck man...
What gears are u running??
