This is truly a legend at Notre Dame. Thanks Joe. I loved every minute of it.

I’m surprised he didn’t go to Pitt or Penn state since he’s from there

Those wrap-up shows with Lindsey Nelson and Paul Hornung on Sunday were awesome. Hearing Joe say that he watched them prior to attending ND put a big smile on my face. ..Go Irish!

Notre Dame highlights with Lindsay Nelson and Paul Hornung. Every Sunday morning at 9:00! I always watched it as a kid 8n Montana. "With both teams exchanging punts, we move ahead to further action, Notre Dame with the ball on their own 40." Lindsay Nelson, what a great play by play guy.

Two other QB's on scholarship, Rusty Lisch and Rick Slager were less than average. One them (I can't remember) was a steady boyfriend of Devine's daughter. This played in the mix of Montana not starting in 1975. There was a minor mutiny brewing at the North Carolina game among the asst. coaches to get Joe on the field. He lived off-campus in an apartment above Joe Serge's House of Spirits on Portage Ave. We were casual friends with the, "Hi, how ya doin'- good luck- see ya later" stuff. Through it all, Joe was always friendly, approachable, grounded and straight forward. I was born and raised a lifetime ND fan in South Bend.

I still hear people say that Joe had no physical ability, that he was basically that good becuase of his mind. This guy was an excellent BBall prospect. NCState wanted him VERY badly. Joe could do a reverse slam dunk and had amazing hops. He was fast and quick and could throw on the move/run as well as anybody ever has. He had huge physical talent....

Noter Dame should make another movie this time the story should be on Joe Montana.

Joe made it look easy that anyone could do it. As we all know, great QB's don't come along very often.

The greatest ever and still the only quaterback to get the ball in a moving taxi over and over again on the David Letterman quaterback challenge. Gotta count for something....
    Best Ever hands down

Its almost incredible that the coaching staff at such a legendary school - THE legendary football school - could spend 2 years ignoring the boy who would be the best ever QB. I mean what were they looking at in practice drills

Some people never learn! -Then again ignorance creates the fate of advantage, and boy did we have tons of it when we landed Mr. Bird Legs! -Even after the fact he was given such a disrespectful drafting position, it all paid off in the end...

I don’t know if it’s true or not but there’s a story that Joe Montana’s intermural league team beat Kelly Tripucka (nba player) at Noterdame in basketball. .

The Irish coaching staff must have been lacking for the ability to spot special talent when it was right in front of their faces. How many times did Joe have to step of the bench to save their butts before they finally figured out that he was the best man for the job? Joe is the only QB in the history of the NFL that possesses OVERWHELMING evidence that he was the best ever. No other QB can make as strong of a case as Joe.

He wasn't even that good in Notre Dame -- his stats are mediocre, overall he had more ints. than tds.
