Profound forces and rapid changes are shaping today's world, while pressing challenges such as persistent poverty, protracted conflicts and an intractable climate crisis are still hindering global development. The World Bank has drawn on its knowledge and financing capabilities to make a substantial difference and reduce inequalities. What has China's role been and how can China make even greater positive contributions to addressing climate change and other global challenges? In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down with Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank Group, a multilateral development institution with significant global influence and one of the cornerstones of the current international governance system. Banga attended the China Development Forum on March 24-25 and visited a rural community in Hebei Province where he witnessed first-hand China's efforts to tackle climate change and promote rural revitalization. He said China has transitioned from taking World Bank grants to being one of the organization's largest donors. He also noted that China used to pull from the knowledge bank and is now feeding it with its successful experience and lessons that have been widely applied in the Global South.
