    ▷ ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Kristen, I am 22 years old, from Sacramento CA, and I am graduating in the Spring with my BA in Psychology. I created this channel for three reasons that are very close to my heart. One, to help others be able to tell their stories and be advocates for mental health, to give recovery tips and tricks to help others find the help they need, and to spread awareness for mental health issues to fight the stigma surrounding it. The more we talk about mental illness the more normalized it will be in our society and the more people will not be ashamed to get help!

A thing that helps me a lot is dancing, I don't even realize that I'm exercising and it's a good way to release all this endless energy that I have with what my doctor thinks it's hypomania. I also love spending time on my bullet journal, I think setting achievable goals it's important for my recovery, and I'm getting pretty good at it, even when they're small goals. 😊

I started cruising around on my longboard a half an hour a day and it's one of the best things I ever did for myself. It's really fulfilling because you can keep learning new stuff and it just makes me feel free. I'm currently listening to an audiobook (you gotta get on that audible ad money). The book is called "How to be miserable 40 strategies you already use", it has definitely given me some things to think about so I can recommend it.

Something that has really helped my mental health a lot this month is the musical Dear Evan Hansen. It really accurately portrays mental illness and shines such a bright light of hope. I've been listening to the soundtrack on repeat, and I may or may not have watched the bootleg a few times. :) I'd highly recommend giving it a listen!
Such a great video! I get so excited whenever you post, so all these videos have made me very happy! :D

I haven't been doing well this month since my depressions gotten worse and they can't pin down what's going on. They are looking at my thyroid as a possible culprit and other tests. There have been so many days that I just want to stay in bed, looking up at the ceiling and I can't muster up the motivation to get up and do anything. I hope they find whatever it is soon. My medicines aren't working as well as they were but surprisingly I feel a little bit better than I do off my medications. I really need to catch up on your videos because they always bring me a light in the dark tunnel.

I have been getting into new bands, especially this one called Vinyl Theatre. They are really uplifting to me for some unknown reason.
I started working out more and eating healthier, which has made my anxiety drop a little bit.
I also found this app called Blossom Blast and I'm addicted.
On a scale of 1 (Horribly anxious/depressed) to 10 (no anxiety/depression), I would say I'm at a 5 right now, and that has been the best it has been in three months.

I had to make a comment to say: LA LA LAND. Oh my gosh, I LOVE it. Of course, it devastated me, but it also made me really happy. I also love your planner, and liked your book suggestions. 😊

I have the same planner! Except mine is sectioned out by time. Books I'm going to read this month? There's to many to name! Definitely Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab, and a bunch of other books! I was in a bit of a slump with my depression but I was able to break it yesterday and have been feeling much better😊

i just found your channel and i don't exactly want to spill out my life story or anything here, but i have some questions, if you don't mind. what do you do if you feel like you don't want to get better, like you almost feel like you want to stay this way? is there a way to tell if you're actually falling into depression or it's just teenage hormones? any answers are much appreciated.

I am planning on making a whole video on my experiences with this topic because i have a lot to say about it. Sometimes feeling low or depressed can make us feel comfortable. It is so easy to feel comfortable with depression but that doesn't mean that is anyway to live. Depression is not just a teenage phase and teens don't have to go through depression. If you feel like you are having some emotional distress right now please reach out for help and talk to someone about it. A friend, family member, support group, your dog, anyone you think will listen to you and support you.
