Media Edits Out Key Bernie Sanders Rant

  • Bernie Sanders got a lot of credit from young people for pointing out real issues that are important to average Americans. MSNBC edited out a key portion of his speech critical of the media, Citizens United, inequality, and oligarchy. Ana Kasparian (The Point), John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Margaret Howell (Lip TV), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Playing clips from the debate, CNN and other networks focused almost exclusively on the political impact of Sanders expressing solidarity with Clinton about her damn emails - while editing out his comment about the failures of the media to talk about the biggest issues facing America.”*

I'm a libertarian and I am considering voting for Sanders, not because I believe in socialism, because I don't, but because I believe removing money from politics should be the most important goal of any freedom loving american, no matter what your social beliefs are. We are losing our Republic to corporate control. Super Packs need to be eliminated completely. That is something I can agree and unite with a "socialist" on. I am also a "liberal", probably to the extreme, but I believe in individual responsibility, not the "power of government". Your wrong on alot of issues on this show, but telling the truth about Hillary, that is something I can give you credit for. Shes nothing but a bankers clown and the blacks supporting her, only shows the level of total ignorance in the black communities that prevail today. I make fun of "fox news" watching neo-con republicans all day long, there are many in my family in fact, but you know what? Blacks are even WORSE, brainwashed and ignorant. There are execeptions of course like my personal hero TMOT, "Derrick Grayson" who ran for senate in Georgia. Blacks that speak the truth get rail-roaded by there own people. Blacks don't want to speak the truth nor hear the truth. They just want to drink that koolaid...

Even though no one will see this comment (about a video that was uploaded over 4 years ago) - I still find myself being compelled to write these words - (almost 4 years 3 mths later) !
What a fabulous gift it truly is when a concerned citizen can look back (in History) on what was said and done by politicians, while (simultaneously) currently living with the effects of what was "said and done" by those same politicians.
This video was uploaded to RUclips Oct 16, 2015 - and I'm commenting on it from (the future), January 18, 2020 - and this is what I see (through the benefit of 20/20 hindsight)
I see an AURA of naive "earnestness" and "honesty" about Bernie Sanders that is practically - SPIRITUAL !!
    On the other hand ;
I see a Hillary Clinton, who, by her mannerisms and facial expressions and her words - is eerily reminiscent of a student of Niccolo Machiavelli !!!
With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I can honestly now say - Hillary Clinton looked and acted in the way of a person who already knew the eventual outcome of that Democratic primary !!!
She absolutely knew, in that moment, - NO matter what Bernie said or did on that debate stage - HE would be THWARTED and SHE, would be the ANOINTED ONE !!!
When I watched that debate live - I had no way of knowing what was "real" and what was "phoney" !
    I DO NOW !!!!!
Hillary was/is a part of that Oligarchy that Bernie was put on this earth - to destroy !!
    Bernie 2020 or bust !!!!

+Renzo Tata yes but since since the democratic and republican lobby put full force into making independents unelectable. bernie said that he is an independent but he has to run as a democrat to have a chance. this is the result of a 2 party system that has strong-armed themselves into power

    • @dipojones
      @dipojones 9 лет назад

+randomblackperson2 You mean the result of the brainwashed populace that continue to elect and support the two party system. The democratic and republican farce could end tomorrow if everyone said NO, and voted independent. We have the power, and that is why the two party system NEEDS our consent at the polls. Withdraw that consent, and the two party system becomes invalid.

    • @randomblackperson2
      @randomblackperson2 9 лет назад +2

dipojones is there any national independent debate. people are always asked are you a democrat or a republican. if you say you dont know then people will go on to explain with only those 2 options in mind. the culture is way to embedded into our political system which was one of the warning george washington warned us about. the most telling thing about this is that in every ad campaign that i have seen it is always dem v rep. they dont even mention independents and neither does the media. the last time i have heard one was in florida where al gore lost since a independent took some of his votes due to mis voting

    • @dipojones

randomblackperson2 That is because the media that shapes the minds of Americans is owned by the same billionaires and wealthy oligarchs, that own both Republicans and Democrats. George Carlin said it best "Politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You dont. You have no choice, you have owners...they own you"

I'm a big supporter but concerned about one thing. Many voters are still stuck in our nation's long-standing, powerful, reflexive opposition to socialism, and in order to soften that mindset Bernie will need a more relatable strategy than the one he's been using so far. The voters he must court will not, I fear, be swayed by repeated references to Denmark and Sweden. They are far more likely to be swayed by direct reference to socialism as it already successfully exists within our own system. I think Bernie should first sharply distinguish between communism and socialism, and then illustrate the latter with concrete examples such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits. These have been extremely popular programs on the left and even in the middle ever since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society initiatives, and potential Sanders voters should be placed in position to suddenly realize, "Oh, THAT's what he means by socialism? That's not scary at all. That's not foreign. That's home grown, familiar, and humane." Continued boilerplate reference to far-off countries will strike many listeners as vaguely un-American, as though Bernie is skirting the issue and cannot defend socialism in the forms in which it flourishes within our own borders. --Christopher Noël

I would love a Sanders, Trump Presidential race just to see how the media would handle THAT. I can see it now. They'd love Trump but would have to see Sanders as the only sane choice. But then they would be biting the hands that feed them. But then Trump would be a disaster for the country. But then Sanders would be too honest. But then Trump would bring in the ratings.... But then he would be laughed at by the rest of the world's media.... What to do? What to do? Meanwhile the internet would be ripping the national media to pieces.

Two things for anyone who wants Bernie to win:
    1. Register as a Dem to vote in the primary. Sign up here for email reminders and important deadline info: www.voteforbernie.org
    2. Don't let him down like we did to Obama by forgetting the midterms and allowing republicans to obstruct everything he wants to do! This is equally as important as voting for him and I'm worried people won't follow through. Get the word out! This is what he means by a political revolution. The presidency alone isn't enough.

John's right...the thumb-point comes from 'handlers', the people who teach politicians 'body language'...all kinds of research has been done on what gestures offend or turn people off, what gestures they find non-threatening and whatnot. These are the same people who analyze the body language of two world leaders meeting...who touched whose back or the back of their arm, who allowed whom to enter a room first, on and on and on. That thumb gesture really bugs me, too...but it's about all the research will let them do, and the research also says NO gesturing is worse than the thumb thing.

Suggesting that the media cut out his statement there that the middle class faces challenges of income inequality because they don't want the American people to hear that is absurd.
His statements there (which he repeated in the debate more than once without being cut) were cut because A) The question was about Clinton's handling of the emails, B) It wasn't his turn to speak.
He brought up income inequality already earlier in the debate and again later in the debate, neither time it was cut.

Trade bills are a lot more complicated than just one bill:
Though Bill supported it, Hillary opposed NAFTA. (Oct 2007)
Voted against CAFTA despite Bill Clinton’s pushing NAFTA. (Oct 2005)
Voted YES on free trade agreement with Oman. (Jun 2006)
Voted NO on implementing CAFTA for Central America free-trade. (Jul 2005)
Voted YES on establishing free trade between US & Singapore. (Jul 2003)
Voted YES on establishing free trade between the US and Chile. (Jul 2003)
Voted NO on extending free trade to Andean nations. (May 2002)
Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam. (Oct 2001)
Voted YES on removing common goods from national security export rules. (Sep 2001)
Build a rule-based global trading system. (Aug 2000)
Rated 17% by CATO, indicating a pro-fair trade voting record. (Dec 2002)
Extend trade restrictions on Burma to promote democracy. (Jun 2007)
Bush Adm lied about the intelligent information saying there was Mass Destruction Weapon in Iraq, which impacted many senators to vote for the War:
Iraq war vote was meant to be used as coercive diplomacy. (Jan 2008)
Voted against Levin Amendment: it gave UN veto over US. (Jan 2008)
Voted for Iraq war based on available info; now would not. (Apr 2007)
Critic of Iraq war, but won’t recant 2002 vote in its favor. (Nov 2006)
Regrets Bush’s handling of war, but not her war vote. (Oct 2006)
Voted YES on designating Iran's Revolutionary Guards as terrorists. (Sep 2007)
Voted YES on redeploying US troops out of Iraq by March 2008. (Mar 2007)
Voted NO on redeploying troops out of Iraq by July 2007. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on investigating contract awards in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Nov 2005)
Voted YES on requiring on-budget funding for Iraq, not emergency funding. (Apr 2005)
Voted YES on $86 billion for military operations in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Oct 2003)
Voted YES on authorizing use of military force against Iraq. (Oct 2002)
Condemns anti-Muslim bigotry in name of anti-terrorism. (Oct 2001)
No troop surge: no military escalation in Iraq. (Jan 2007)
Deploy UN multinational peacekeeping force in Darfur. (Jul 2007)
Require Congress' approval before military action in Iran. (Oct 2007)
The Patriot Act is a U.S. law passed in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Its goals are to strengthen domestic security and broaden the powers of law-enforcement agencies with regards to identifying and stopping terrorists. If there was a problem that has to do with certain individual who worked in the government abused the power and nothing to do with all these senators voted "Yes". So, you need to be careful accused of her voting this bill was a doing a wrong thing.
May 13, 2015 - Officially known as the Uniting and Strengthening America Act by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 -- or "USA Patriot Act" -- the law is intended to help government agencies detect and prevent possible acts of terrorism, or sponsorship of terrorist groups.
    Regards to crime bill:
The “Black Lives Matter” movement has made criminal justice issues paramount in the African-American community, Both Hillary and Bernie have a blotch on their records: a 1994 crime bill, which President Bill Clinton signed, and then-Rep. Bernie Sanders supported. So, don't punish Hillary for that.
    Wall Street deregulation:
Bernie is the one who voted to deregulate swaps and derivatives in 2000, which contributed to the overleveraging of Lehman Brothers which was one of the culprits that brought down the economy.
Sanders’ 2000 vote in favor of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, a bill that essentially banned the government from regulating derivatives, such as the credit default swaps that helped bring down the global economy during the financial crisis. The legislation gets talked about less often than the repeal of the banking regulation law Glass-Steagall, which Sanders opposed.
It almost certainly played a far greater role in setting the stage for Wall Street’s meltdown.
Finally, your stupid political knowledge was so twisted and so much goes by small sound bite but has no real fact. There were a lot more complicate issues and subjects involved, but you bunch young jerks refused to understand the truth and grey areas. I am sick of you bunch dumb ass people. Get lost!

Because we want to trust that the guy who ends up in office, regardless of the platform he's campaigning on.. is honest, has integrity and will do the right thing for the American people.. not their campaign donors..
