    I think Freddie is my favourite creative-insider interview in wrestling. He talks so practically and with so much authentic experience. He knows TV, he knows wrestling, and all his chats with Chris have been really great.

    I understand what Freddie mentioned about the hard times story. I just thought Cody faced enough adversity with his first stint in WWE and his journey in the indies and AEW. I still think Wrestlemania 39 was the time for Cody to win it.

      They needed to do their due diligence and visually show him struggle. Cody was undefeated since his return, won the Royal Rumble and is the only person to pin Solo on main roster TV. Like in life, when things are too good to be true, they usually are. He can't just rely on things that happened in the past. Sure, facing that adversity isn't disregarded. You just have to take into consideration that not everybody is aware of his time in the business before his return. You could tell the fans what happened, but pro wrestling is about storytelling, so you have Cody eventually win the title, but have him overcome people like Brock before attaining his goal. A face develops characters through the lows of his story. When he has to fight for what he wants, not just be handed it like Roman is often accused of. Losing at Mania will be better for Cody in the long run. Having Cody win the title in such relatively quick fashion would be a disservice to him. He can become more over as a face by fighting through the fire. It's also risky to have somebody win a World Title too early in a run. It can backfire and have the fans turn on them after a few months. The money is always in the face chasing the heel for the championship.

    I had an idea after cody beat brock at backlash. Basically at night of champs Brock beats Cody convincingly in a fight pit, cody begins to doubt himself and is manipulated by the judgement day. At Money in the bank, cody beats Brock with jd interference, turns heel and joins them, dyes his hair black, classic cody heel promos. At summerslam, triple threat between seth, balor, and cody for the whc, balor uses cody to win the belt, few months down the line cody realizes he's being used and walks out on balor as la knight cashes in on him to win the whc. Cody vs balor feud, cody wins the royal rumble, cody beats balor at elimination chamber before rekindling the feud with roman and finally beating him at wrestlemania. I just feel you cant keep cody as the optimistic babyface for a whole year of adversity

    • @briankaneiii4234
      @briankaneiii4234 Год назад

      It would go against all his promos & risk losing the feel good story when he does get the title. If they feel Cody is getting stale, they can always have him get attacked after a win & keep him out for 6 weeks with an "injury". A loss to Brock coming up at night of champions isn't gonna hurt Cody, especially when he wins the rubber match.

    The issue with Cody is the simple fact he's 38. WWE built Reigns as champ for 3 years, something they haven't done since the Hogan years. I think its fair to say WWE wants someone who is young can be a top draw for a long time. Cody has millions of dollars, a family, has almost 20 years under his belt and is getting close to mid age, it's fair to say he's alot closer to the end of his career than he is the beginning and frankly, Cody could choose to retire whenever he wants, all the stars are aligned for him to do so. It's really a question of what Cody wants...

      A lot of guys got their 1st World Title run in their 30's bro. Young champs like Randy Orton are not a common thing.
      When Bret Hart won the belt from Ric Flair, he was 35 with 4 kids and was already in the business for 16 years at that point. He was over and an outstanding wrestler. So he should have been overlooked because of his age?
      Stone Cold was 34 when he got his 1st world title run and led the most profitable era in the history of the business.
      Macho Man was 36 when he got the belt, another damn good champion.
      Cody is doing the best work of his career right now. You can't write him off yet. Not everyone does their best work in their 20s.

      @@KozyKool2287 you wanna know what DDP, Austin, and Bret Hart weren't? They weren't multi-millionaires when they won, Cody is. Those guys? They'd been waiting for that payday for decades, a payday Cody already has, it's not even close to the same thing. Also, I don't recall Austin,Bret,DDP beating a guy who was built for 3+ years either. Given that, it's fair to say WWE is not looking for a guy to be champ for 6 months, they want someone who will be champ for years to come.
      His age in most circumstances wouldn't be an issue, that's very true but these aren't normal circumstances.

    I'm bored of Cody. I was bored of him in AEW and I'm bored of him in WWE. All he does is give speeches. Every promo he does is this meticulously planned thing with carefully selected buzzwords and catchy lines. He's basically a politician, using the exact same speech formula that politicians use. You might as well put "Finish The Story" on a red baseball cap and call it a day.
