One of the most informative vids I've seen on this lens. As a full-frame shooter w an APS-C backup cam, it certainly increased my perception of the lens' value.
Wow this was actually a lot more informative than I thought it would be! Great stuff just waiting on my ac7ii and trying to figure out which of my lenses would work out well. This is definitely good stuff I would not have figured out for a while and would have just shot in crop mode with 28mm view.
@@NikoBols Sure thing! Thank you for the videos. I used to have this lens for X-mount (loved it to bits) but my camera along with this lens were stolen. I'll have something to remember it by, in a way.
@@NikoBols Nice to meet another one on RUclips making videos. Currently I am using a Canon M6 Mark II and my old M50 for second or B footage. I have been waiting to go to a EOS R or a R6 but thought - I need to open my view to see what else is good out there. Thinking about an a7iii + a7ii then found you. Pretty cool sir, great video quality.
Oh nice!!! Well, you might want to check out the new APS-C RF mount cameras from Canon. Maybe you can keep your M6 II as your B-Cam and go something like the R7 as your A-Cam.
Glad to know. I own the lens and am wanting to upgrade to FF. Nice to know I don't necessarily have to give it up. But I wonder how sharpness is in the edges besides the vignetting.
This really depends on the look you want. Especially since you’ll have only 1 focal length. So the question is, what type of shots or look do you see yourself taking the most?
@@NikoBols thanks. I picked up a zv-e10 to replace my old a6500. Got that sigma lens too. Didn’t feel it was enough of an upgrade so I’m returning it and getting the A7 IV instead. Wasn’t sure if I should return the sigma lens and get a tamron 24-70mm full frame instead. But that sigma is nice. Your video made my decision more difficult haha thanks
@@PuReXtremeGaming after playing with the A7IV, i ended up returning it as well. it's a nice camera. photos are great, videos are great. feels great to hold and use. i tried using the sigma lens but it's not a full frame lens so i had to zoom in a little to not get the vignette. i started looking at full frame lenses. just way over my budget. i returned it and get the ZV-E10 again. been using it for months now and i like it. it's not the A7IV but it fits my needs. if i had the budget, i really like the way the A7IV feels when using it... not sure if that makes sense. but comfy to hold, just feels like a better camera. maybe in the future.
Great video Niko, i have a random question i hope you see. How do you get your mic/audio to sound so loud and crisp? I recently changed mics and bought the same mic youre running, ( i think thats the shure sm7b?) and although the mic works, when im listening to my work in final cut, it doesnt appear to be super loud and crisp. its like soft spoken. Are there settings im not adjusting on the mic? any help? Thank you.
@@Nick_Cowles11b Hi Nick! The SM7B is a low output dynamic mic so it produces really low levels when it comes to the output. I use a mic activator to increase it’s noiseless gain. What I use specifically is the FetHead. There are also other brands like the Cloudlifter. You can check out my tests here: ruclips.net/video/BIt3Blp7mzg/видео.html

Thanks! Yes, with the setup you have, the value of the lens increases for you 👍
dude! that vid is so clear and simple - well done.
Thank you 🙏
you can also turn on lens compensation for vignetting
That's a good point. I couldn't try it cause the A7siii doesn't have that feature.
where do you go for that? i have the a7iv
dude you just helped me making my decision....buying it for my A7 III and mi Zve10
Glad to have helped 🙏🙂

i use viltrox 13mm on a7cii with active stab + 1.2-3ish clear image zoom and i effectively have a 16mm f1.4
Every day tech dad over here too. Good stuff!
Thanks 🙏 And cheers to every day tech dads! 🙂
what about the aperture? 1.4 x crop factor?
I LOVE this lens, it records all my videos (but I also don't have a full frame).
Pinoy?
Yes, the first time I had this is when I had my a6400. It's my most used lens.
@@SmallEngineVelocity Yes, Pinoy :)

What’s a good wide lense that’s similar but for a full frame camera ?

Not really sure. Couldn't test it anymore as I have sold the lens already 🙁
a question, you can cut a part of the housing of the lens to delete the vignette?
Hi sir! Kinda late but my camera search led me to your page. I have a Sony a6400 what prime lens would you recommend for beginners? :)

with steadyshot on, will it record the video in 4K or will it still do 1080?
