Your discussion of Nora Roberts's Legacy reminded me of a Christie book stating that a detective should never go to a crime movie, a matchmaker shouldn't go to a romance, etc. Very true!
I loved the song for this series 😂 I have read a few Nora Roberts! My mom has a large collection of her books and I've picked up quite a few through the years! My favourite is probably The Villa! Followed closely by Whiskey Beach and The Witness. I like some of the romance series set in Ireland, and the Inn Boonsboro series! So many good ones 😅
Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors. I've been reading her for a long time. I just picked up Golden In Death at a bargain price and was thrilled
My friend is reading all Nora Robert's backlist lol. She is concentrating on certain years. In February I hosted a Retro Romance Readathon and my friend used it to read her Nora Robert's books lol. Good Luck!
I've been reading Roberts off and on since the 90s - not due to her writing, but because I stopped reading for enjoyment for a period of time. I really enjoyed your Roberts Readathon last summer, but I'm not sure how many people are currently interested in reading that much Roberts all at once. I'm really enjoying your project. The Villa = Falcon Crest - 80s night time soap set in a vineyard. I've read Naked in Death 3 times. I think it is the only book I've ever read more than twice and only one of 3 or 4 books I've read more than once. Chasing Fire and The Witness are two of my favorites of hers, but there are so many that I like. I also liked the Key Trilogy.
So happy you enjoyed The Villa! It's definitely in my top five Roberts books. Also, this inspired to me to check my own stats, and I've read 87 Nora/J.D. Robb books. I clearly have some reading to do.
I’ve read a ton of NR books on top of JD Robb series and I completely agree that her Beta hero’s are so chill and awesome. My best friend gave me Sacred Sins for my birthday in high school and I still have that paperback. It was a definite precursor to the Eve/Roarke storyline.
I have recently gotten back into reading Nora's books, and I realized how much I've missed reading her books. I read Shelter in Place in January and Under Currents last week. I gave both 4 stars, but I think Shelter in Place was my favorite, mainly because I liked the romance (that eventually happened) more in that one than Under Currents. I own The Villa and Blue Smoke in physical form, and definitely need to get to both sooner rather than later.
After seeing your Reading Roberts, I decided to do two things, buy all of Nora's books that I didn't own and re/read all of them. Last year I managed to purchase all of the series, including a very nice full set of the 48 books in the Language of Love series (which is most of her category romance books). I'm still working on purchasing all the standalones because I decided to purchase those all in hardback (the series romances I bought in paperback). This year I'm reading five of the Language of Love series a month to get through them all. Some are re-reads and some I've never read, but I'm enjoying myself. My favorites have to be her Bridal Quartet, the Chesapeake Blue series (which is just so heart tugging) and all those MacGregors. I guess next year I'll tackle reading all the standalones and in 2023 re-read all the In Death books.
I enjoyed the Roberts Readathon, since it got me to read my first Nora Roberts book ever: The Obsession, per your recommendation. I enjoyed it very much, and I can see getting really addicted to that mix of cozy and thriller. It reminded me of Mary Stewart's romantic suspense novels, which also usually have a mix of coziness and suspense, and which I'm a big fan of. Maybe Nora Roberts can become my new (more modern) fix for that.
I love your Nora updates! I have to start the In Depth series., but have read most of her other stand alone and series. My favorite series is the three sister island trilogy!
I've never read Nora Roberts, but now seems like a great time to dive into her work. (I'm a big fan of the Debra episode.) A friend sent me "Dance Upon the Air" so I'm thinking of starting there. They also recommended 'The Obsession' which I hear has a lot of good reviews. I'm looking forward to yet another reading journey brought to me by bookslikewhoa (previous adventures included Talia Hibbert and Alyssa Cole).
Been reading since the 80's. My first that I remember is Playing the Odds, the very first book of the original McGregor series. Would love to see what you think. Definitely has a typical alpha hero, but I fell in love with the heroines father, Daniel McGregor.
Hi There. I'm looking for a book that I swear is Nora Roberts can anyone just help🥺. The details are not exact but something similar. She was locked in the bathroom when she heard the house being robbed. Years later they come back after her for some reason. The man protecting her is the guy who testified for the attackers in court back then. He's a hacker who has a cold room for his computers in the middle of his apartment. There is another scene where they come back to his apartment to find the dog had been stabbed. They end up running into the mountain to avoid the guys and I think he got shot. Not that clear plot but can anyone help?
As a long time reader of Nora Roberts/JD Robb I have found that her best books are the ones where her females are really sure of themselves. They don't need the men to be successful but if the men complement them then they are all the better Some of my favourites of her books include any of the Bride Quartet, Tribute, High Noon, any of the Calhoun series, Chasing Fire, Blue Smoke and of course the McGregors, the Stanislaski's and the O'Hurleys. Are they "of their time" yes, but all have interesting characters who make you think.
Yeees! My most antecipated video by you! I love when you talk about Nora, Agatha, Nalini and your cats lol This year I read Under currents (not without its flaws, but I still loved it) and Genuine Lies (that one is an older & bolder version of Evelyn Hugo). I want to continue reading the In Death series. I always stop at book 7 for some reason...
An ever increasing denominator would drive me bonkers (it does... with my physical tbr :P) but I suppose as long as you're reading more than she publishes, your % will increase :D Thanks for sharing an update - always fun to talk stats and accomplishments!
I just bought Irish Thoroughbred last week and have read some of it and love it so far. I especially loved the cover. I showed it to my friend and she commented on how beautiful it is before i told her what i thought! I just wasn't thrilled with assault, but so far i still like it. I am going to read more of her books for sure!
Thanks for the update! I'm cheering you on your journey and always looking forward to the next NR book you read. It would be really fun if you at some point did a tier video for your favourite NR love interests and/or heroines.
I’m inventorying my books and hoping to fill in the missing books soon. I am up to date on the JD Robb ones, but I think I missed some of the Nora books. My issue is, so many of the books seem to be two books in one which messes me up since I may have 4 of one book due to it being paired with different books. *sigh*
I’ve never read her. I’ve never been into romance, but I’ve also never really given it a chance. I think maybe I’d be into her mysteries. Have you made a where to start with Nora/JD video?
Love the Roberts theme 🎵. And is ParaNorma a sub-sub genre or a pocket genre 🤔? 😆 I am enjoying her In Death series. Her category and contemporary style romances are Not for me, but I do have Year One on my TBR.Love the update on your very ambitious project.
That’s too bad about Nora getting the job specifics wrong in LEGACY. I mean, she made her name for always giving her heroines jobs that were pretty well flushed out, even back in the 80’s. I haven’t read any of new books from the past five years, but I’ve read all the rest. I’m interested to hear that maybe she’s not doing the same level of research that she used to. Thanks for the honest feedback Mara, and good luck with your continued Reading Roberts project!!
I've never read Nora Roberts. Which boo would you recommend to start? Side question: after reading so many from one author, how do you feel? Are you still excited about reading on, not tired? Lovely video btw
I liked the Year One book, wasn't as interested in book 2 and 3, will be interested to see what you think of them! Oh and I read Year One in 2020 during the pandemic LOL crazy!
I totally agree with you on the representation of Tech in the Media. Also, isn’t it funny how Tech and especially Social Media is an excuse for casual misogyny. I’m sorry, but I can be a person with a personality that includes technology and social media.
Love this, and love Nora Roberts! I have two questions: do you have a ranking video of all her books you’ve read so far? I’m so curious which ones you loved that I’ve also read, since I’ve only read one from this video (Visions in White!) Also, how come you refer to her as Lenora? 💚
I actually started reading Roberts to prove my colleagues how bad she is (prejudiced). Turns out I am now a fanboy who hates her for making me one. Lol. 😂
What does the term “category” or “category romance” mean? That the book is categorized as only a “romance” and not one with another identifier, such as “historical romance”, “paranormal romance”, or a book from another genre with romance elements?
Off topic but have you read The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley? Just finished it and enjoyed. I would say it qualifies as a closed circle mystery which are few and far between!

Why aren’t you reading the series together. Like wouldn’t make sense to read them that way, then make a review blog on each one as a whole?? Then you can bunch like 10 stand-alone’s together and review them??
I normally don't read romance (was very disappointed in "Love Hypothesis") but I may have to read "Vision in White". I love strong confident women who "don't need no man". Love Hypothesis did not give me that, Olive had painfully low self esteem.
The reading Roberts song makes me chuckle every time 😁
lol I do my best to entertain ;)
I’m deeply invested in your Nora Roberts journey and I haven’t even read a full Nora book in my life (yet).
I'm glad to hear it!
Your discussion of Nora Roberts's Legacy reminded me of a Christie book stating that a detective should never go to a crime movie, a matchmaker shouldn't go to a romance, etc. Very true!

Holy moly I didn’t even realize how many books she publishes a year 😱 that’s wild, good for her lol

Carter in Vision in White is one of my favorite ever heroes. I remember rating that book higher because of him.

I jumped down the In Death rabbit hole and have read all up #54. I love Eve, Roarke, Peabody and McNab.

Nora Roberts writing 7-10 books a year is UNREAL. 😵💫

Your hair looks fantastic today. So shiny!!
Kudos to you for such a huge undertaking! Just the JD Robb books is enough for a long-term TBR!! Thank you.
It really is!
I LOVED The Villa! One of my favorites
Great work on completing a number of Nora Roberts books. 👏🏽
I am a live time Nora Roberts fan but until recently I hadn't read any of her J.D Robb.
I would totally be in for a Roberts Readalong!
It’s so satisfying watching you make progress on this!
I remember really liking Carnal Innocence although I would not be able to pick the plot out of a line up now 🙈
Thanks for the update! I'm cheering you on your journey and always looking forward to the next NR book you read. It would be really fun if you at some point did a tier video for your favourite NR love interests and/or heroines.

I have never heard the phrase competency porn, but I love it so much. Totally stealing that.
You're the reason why my Nora Roberts books are piled up😂

lol alpha whole. I just started crescent city!! I know this reference now 😍

Re: Legacy.
What’s funny is Nora probably gets tons of views but her publicist handles it lol. She probably should have asked Laura!
I was curious on your thought about the Romance Books that are all of the sudden the Netflix Craze! Good? Bad?
Off topic but have you read The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley? Just finished it and enjoyed. I would say it qualifies as a closed circle mystery which are few and far between!
