I’m a biologist so I would go to a private island with as many seeds and and medicine I could. I know how to create a semi permeable membrane and use water pressure to isolate the salt out of the water and clean it, also the sand around the entire island would make it easy to track anyone who came on land

I olayed pubg, minecraft, and TLOU. I, too, think I would excel on an island
I've got it all figured gents... Alcatraz in SF Bay. It's a museum prison so super secure, few minute boat ride to San Francisco for raids and essential supplies. Setup a garden, for veg, and you have unlimited fish. Easy.

Well, the people in the Dam that Andrew was referencing ended up in Jackson. They kept getting attacked. Go high ground, mountains, cold weather, open area where is easier to protect. I like the island idea, doesn’t have to be in an area where hurricanes might strike. Plus anywhere you go, you’re gonna have to learn new skills to survive.

It’s funny listening to big city folks talk about survival.
When my mother in law comes to visit she still sits on the kitchen floor and chops up a whole chicken for dinner even though we have a nice modern house.
Those skills, living like a villager, this skills are forgotten by this generation.
Just sourcing fresh water on an island is difficult. And if there is a fresh water stream…. Guess who is controlling that resource? Groups with guns.
Country people would definitely be better at hunting, but the city hood people like gangs and cartels more prepared for actual human combat

Ambush positions all be already in place, choke points, bunkers, gun positions, road spikes, road blocks, rested and full bellies. By the time city folks even make it to the hills and mountains…. They will be tired weak and have used all their limited supplies…
There is this misconception that people can simply run to the mountains. There are generations of people already living in the mountains. Every country road will have spikes and logs blocking the path and when you get out to clear those roads a deer rifle with a scope that can reach out 600 yards will be waiting from the tree line.
It’s a very bad idea to think you can simply come up to the mountains.
Look how well the Taliban did agains both the Russians in the the 80s then the Americans just last year. They pushed both countries out and they don’t even have an air force.
There is alot to be said about home court advantage.
@@mixflip these dudes you're right they'd be done 😂 but no don't agree cuz mountain people are used to a solitary peaceful environment, city Latinos have a background in harsher environments than southerners, and we're more used to violent confrontation in jungles, rural, and city regions hence farmers, cartels and gangs. Mexicans literally got here through harsh environments.
@@xekariah Mexicans tires aren’t bulletproof and neither are their bodies. 20 hunters and their families all with AR15s with scopes and the high ground are a force to be reckoned with. Invaders at the bottom of the hill will have a hard fight before them. It has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the will to fight and tactical advantage (knowledge of terrain) just ask the Taliban how they kicked out both Russia and America.
At this point it’s solidified in stone as historical fact. City people will never take the mountains from mountain people who had years to prepare. Especially city people who don’t even know how to find food and water outside of a grocery store.

The "island" option isnt as viable as one would think. Depending on the size, it would be hard to defend, grow crops, obtain fresh water etc. Wood would eventually become an issue. Animals to hunt may or may not be in good supply either
Personally, I'd be a wanderer, nomadic lifestyle. Also be a cartographer in the process, to map out safe spots, danger zones, potential looting areas, and so on.

Honestly when you live in the country you are far less affected by these types of things like when covid hit I didn't change a single thing an I have still never had it but I live in Texas if I k ew thi gs were going g to get real bad I'd goto Alaska with a group because 1 it's hard to survive in Alaska at all so it would keep alot of people away plus bacteria don't thrive in the cold an plenty of people survive off trapping animals an when you do get a big kill you build a freezer out of ice so you will have food year round

I don't know, with money and prep time you could easily survive the zombie apocalypse. A nice small island, a well stocked fortress, family and friends, pets and just chill out. Literally your greatest problem might well be loss of purpose and boredom but with enough hobbies it would be a pretty good life.

Problem living on an island is no source of fresh water
I'm 20 minutes from a town. I've got cattle and crops. Know how to hunt and butcher, I've got enough ammo for a decade maybe. So I'll last at least a month

Something like say Kremlin (literally old brick fortress) in Moscow and other cities with castles could be great. However most of them are in the middle of big cities so only government will probably protect them.
Zombies are evolving faster then humans. 30 years ago they were all slow moving idiots, you only got caught if you couldn't walk at a brisk pace. They get quicker and smarter every movie these days though.
So it depends on what zombies we're talking about, the old school slow ones or the super athletic super zombies of recent years.

Take it from a bahamian, we're not at all self-sufficient, never have been. It was a trading hub before it was a tourist destination. Pick an island with a small population and bring a lot of guns to clear it out, stay away from deserted islands.
