As much as I like Schulz, I don’t think he got the streamers personality on him.
This was the first game I played in 2013 that got me back into gaming again. I had the same reaction, like holy shit games are like movies now! I’ll just say, Andrew don’t play the game past the point of each episode, so you don’t spoil yourself on the tv show. The ending is super impactful, so buckle up.

I enjoyed it for what it was. I’m not a big fan of the Ant-Man movies, so my expectations were quite managed. I would say you could skip the theater and wait till the D+ if you want. It’s not something that needs to be seen. It’s not that it’s bad, but rather very basic and doesn’t do more than what you would think had you heard the premise.
The showrunners decided on making the kid deaf. They put out a casting to call online for a deaf kid because they were having a hard time finding the right actor and got desperate for literally anyone. They were expecting 100's of auditions and ended up only having like 40 people reach out. The kid did a great job
Well if u think about it, there are not that many deaf kid actors. On top of that the deaf kids auditioning need to be black. They were being too picky to be honest lol 😆

@@LovedByYouliterally everything I said came straight out of Craig and Neils mouths on the official podcast. The initial idea may have come from a writer ( I don't recall hearing that ) but Craig and Neil are the ones who make the final decisions/decide to pursue an idea and make it reality. So I don't know what you're on about
Actually in the podcast Craig talked about how it was his decision to make Sam deaf because he was inspired by another story involving a deaf character. So I have no idea what you're talking about lol
@@gnarcky6ix6 I think Craig said he made this decision because the story of Henry and Sam is very much the same as Joel and Ellie. Protector and protected. So we wanted to add in a new element to differentiate the two pairs. Same story as the main protagonists, but under different circumstances. That's how I understood it.
@@AngryDutchman you're right I just went to listen to the podcast again and it's the first thing they talk about. Craig decided on the change based on that and some inspiration from a show he was watching called "This Close" that was created by and starred a deaf person
Kudos on Akash for getting the purpose of the Villain lady. Vengeance for the lost of someone you love is powerful thing but it also blinds you. Also she's foreshadowing for Ellie arc in season 2.
TLoU 2 was terrible though
She was so dumb lmao it wasn’t funny. She was a terrible character.
We get the purpose, it was still a poorly written mess, the idea works well in theory if they can effectively make someone care about the villain, something they do a complete shit job at, not to mention having Ellie become the villain like Joel did in the end of the first was interesting as well, but they failed to have Ellie live with that regret after killing Abbie, apparently she didn't have this revelation while killing a pregnant lady, but the chick who killed her father figure is where she draws the line lol

Israel Adesanya comes on this podcast and talks about video games. It really shows how out of touch Andrew is when it comes to gaming. Maybe this show will allow him to see all of the great storytelling in games that he’s missed out on.
Wish Andrew talked more about his video game experience and how far he is in the game. I Would definitely love to watch him stream it!

but listen to the podcast about it first lol! The actors didn't make the call on the deaf kid. Craig Mazin the showrunner did and Neil Druckmann the co-creator of the last of us video game was so annoyed he didn't think of that from the beginning. It heightens up his reliance on his big bro. Also, fun Fact, the kid actor was found on Twitter after a number of times of them trying to get an authentic deaf kid, they asked on Twitter.

Kathleen was horrible. Nothing wrong with Sam. He was great. Henry on the other hand seemed useless. Where as in the game he was highly capable.
I liked the podcast at first but got tired of them padding themselves on the back.

I got the wife to start watching the show and she loved it right up to the point when I told her I really felt like playing the video game. Her eyes rolled so hard you would think they were doing back flips

Making the kid deaf was a great choice imo (as well as making them younger). I feel like having those "dialogue" scenes between him and Henry be in silence, just made it more intimate and strengthened their relationship (for the viewer) faster. It also instantly makes them more likeable, because Sam has a bigger disadvantage and needs to rely much more on his big brother, while Henry's burden is a little bigger.
The show doesn't have the luxury of the game, where you spend 2-ish hours with them, but also learn more about them while having gameplay.
They did a fantastic job with their arc. And Ellie's guttural scream at the end was really powerful. The acting in this show is insane!

i think part 2 was a very different take on a game. I cant say it was for better or not because we dont know what would have been the alternative but it was a different experience.

Shultzy the way it works in the game is the infected during the initial stages of conversion can hear still. They can also think, the fungus takes control of their nervous system, not their mind. They are forced to move as the fungus wants them to but are still conscious as they do it. This is why in the game you sometimes can hear infected runners crying or wailing in confined spaces. They are likely wailing because they were forced to kill someone they know when they became infected and have to just sit their in agony, thinking about it until the fungus infects their brain.
Why did Alex take so long to laugh after Akash told Mark about it was the deaf was the one who made the choice of being death… 😂
I’m actually playing it at the same pace as the show. So i stop wherever the show happens to be. Awesome way to get every detail of the story

I can barely make it through the episodic tv series due to the fact that they completely destroyed the character of Ellie by casting the actress they did, and by how they wrote her as far as being so belligerent and fearless. Nothing like the well-written game version of Ellie that I remember. Don’t get me wrong, she was amazing in GoT but this just isn’t the right part for her.

Ep3 was amazing. They took a subtle part of Bills character and relationship with Frank and expanded it into a great story about real love and hardship. They could have just made Bill as goofy of a hard ass as he was in the game but Ellie and Joel already hold up the comedy part of the series pretty well on their own. It was a really sweet tribute to a couple of minor characters that had their lore stuck behind a couple of readable notes.
I liked Game Bill better. Game Bill woulda never killed himself. He was a hard ass. They kinda cucked him.

My dad brother and uncle are deaf, they feel vibrations so they do know when they’re being spoken too or when someone’s speaking to them also they learn how to mount out some words like water, mom, etc

Its not that Ellie is jaded, she just feels like since she is immune, she wants to get to the Fireflies asap so a cure can be made so nobody has to go through what just happened with Henry and Sam. Which is also why she wrote "Im sorry" on the Woody Woodpecker tablet Sam had, because she felt bad that she couldn't cure Sam with her blood the night before, which is also something new in comparison to what went on in the game.
That is the whole part of the game and they can even notice it! That’s how good this game is

You would think that sound travels further underground so even if they weren’t in the same area you would still be able to hear them. Idk it had me baffled where the infected came from
