- Here's a mic shootout between two budget mics vs the industry standard Shure Sm 57. Let your ears be the judge! If you don't have ears, just guess.

I recorded all through a UAD Apollo Firewire, adding a touch of Reverb and delay on Pro Tools.

You're great, Dave.
Seriously, this video has way more value than people imagine.
So THIS very video reinforces my notion that the main use for the SM-57 is for blending with other mics to spice a certain tone, and generaly it's the one with the lowest volume in a mix of mics.
I simply could never use a 57 alone. Its harshness will never match my tastes for creamy distorted tones.
The AKG is a winner and I'm going to grab a Fifine.
Lots of tones.............
Hi Dave, interesting demo, The AKG does it for me mate
Cheers...........Mick
Thanks Mick. I thought shure but my preference was to blend them all together for a balance of highs and mids.
Very nice review indeed! Thanks a lot.:)
So good when blended
Thank you :)
I read that the SM57 is so commonly used to mic things that your ears are trained to be used to and like the sound of it. Interesting video!
Great Review! & Guitarplay! :) Thanks. I Thought the FiFine sounded best overall!
Thanks for your kind comment. It's interesting to hear people's opinions :)
I think this video will be useful for addicting music.
More content like this please! Maybe a version with cameras
Hi Dave. Nice Post Thanks for sharing this. Cheers Kjell 🎸 👍
Thanks as always Kjell :)
Hello. I cam into possession of the AKG P3S but I have never used Jack mics before. Please tell me, can I just plug it into my computer? Do I need anything else for it to work properly ? Please advise me.
In theory you can get away with plugging it into pc and using as mic.. However I'd recommend an audio interface like entry level models by m audio
@@davelocke I tested it on my pc. Without the help of Voicemeeter the mic is barely hearable and the quality is worse than the Blue snowball which is USB. Idk if the issue is the lack of the audio interface or something else. Do you have an idea?
I will look into audio interfaces. Thank you!
I like your performance ..
Thank you!
Fifine is sweet. Is it good for voice and acoustic guitar?
I think it is fine for both. It's all personal taste I think. I found I preferred results of different mics combined in the mix.
Yes, it's pretty good for voice, it doesn't get any boomy or muddy as some dynamic mics may do, so it would be especially good for man voice. As for acoustice guitar, because of the clarity, it may not give you very much of the low end that you would like to hear in an instrument recording. But yes, it will still do the job fine.
can we use these mics for gaming recording??
You could, they're not as good as condenser Maybe but will do the job still.
@@davelocke so which condenser mic is best under the price of 4000
@@Overwankerfuck9292 Blue Yeti seems to have good reviews
@@davelocke mhm blue yeti
I THINK FIRST 2 WAS SAME BUT SURE SOUNDED DIFERANT BUT NOT SURE HOW MUCH ?
I thought the fifine sounds more trebly and the akg was more dark. The shure I think had most mid range. I quite liked blending them as seemed to give the bigger sonic spectrum.
@@davelocke WELL YOUR THE MAN TO KNOW, ITS ONLY MY OPINION NO MORE.
@@wayneread1534 no its nice to get other peoples opinions :)
@@davelocke all i really know is that i love the sound my brother gets but your have to ask him what he uses as i can't remember i know its a german mic rests against his amp go here my friend, ruclips.net/video/bUA_dLYvXAE/видео.html
Advice for anyone buying a mic don't take in the price of the mic and buy it take in everything your interface and cable stand pop filter and stuff cause those things add up
