A few answers to common questions regarding this chapter: (Obviously spoilers!) - Why did the killer murder the victim at all? Weren't they friends? -- Yes, they were. But the killer carried a secret shame which the victim, inadvertently, brought to the fore. The killer believed the victim to be weak, but because the victim resolved to be a better person, confront his/her fears and face them, the killer was reminded of his/her own terrible shame and his/her inability to admit to him/herself that (s)he had been a coward all his/her life and was unable to deal with it. This impotence and shame, combined with the killer's innate hot-headedness caused a moment of uncontrollable anger, which made the killer strike the victim in the head with a dumbbell. - How is the killer identified? -- (S)he misspeaks during the trial, identifying the colour of the victim's track suit when (s)he has no way of knowing. - Why does Byakuya mess with the evidence and create the whole crime scene arrangement? -- He has two reasons for doing so. One is because he is aware Genocide Jack is one of the students and he wants to draw the serial killer out, the other is to test which students can look past the obvious and look for answers deeper than the surface. He states himself that when he decides to become the Blackened, he wants to know who he has to look out for. His scheme allows him to identify Makoto and especially Kyoko as the ones to be wary of. - Why did the killer switch the crime scenes? -- Also, two reasons. One, to cast off suspicion, and secondly, because the killer felt remorseful over the impulsive murder, and wanted to at least keep the victim's secret, in keeping with the murderer's character as an outwardly tough and cynical person who is afraid to show that (s)he has a kind heart deep down, thinking it would look weak.
Because he knew Chihiro’s secret. He was a male, cross dressing as a female. He pretended to be female, and used the girls restroom. But in secret, he would use the boy’s restroom to meet with the killer. Because the killer knew this, he approached him by knowledge. The murder itself was taken in the boys restroom, but because he made the promise to never reveal his gender, displayed him in the girls bathroom instead of his original murder scene. (The homicide was not intentional/it was an accident.)
This kinda shows why I like Mondo. "But how come killing someone makes you like them?" ...Well I do like other parts of his character, but let's see what Mondo did AFTER he murdered Chihiro. He placed all evidence of showing the crime took place in the Boys Locker Room and swapped it with objects from the Girls Locker Room. Why did he do this? To hide Chihiro's secret of actually being a boy of course. Mondo has respect for Chihiro and kept his secret for as long as he could and even after he was found out as the killer, he accepts his fate and shows that he deeply regrets killing Chihiro. That's the main reason I like Mondo so much.
Respectfully, that Mondo swaps the murder scenes to hide Chihiro's identity is a baseless assumption on your part. It's possible, but it's far more likely that he did it to get the suspicion off him, since making the 'murder scene' the girl's locker room means he wouldn't have been suspected because he had no access there. This is supported by his attempt to destroy the e-handbook he'd stolen - which invalidates your theory. If it hadn't been for the others figuring out the secret of the e-handbook, he would have succeeded too. So, no, I think you're giving Mondo too much credit.
elstormo Uh no. Its even said in the game AND the anime that Mondo wanted to keep a man's promise to Chihiro who was braver than he himself ever was, by putting Chihiros body into the girls' changing room.
Not true, if he hated her and wanted for her to die, then he would have also been killed due to Mondo getting away with the murder. He simply framed the scene to look as if Genocide Jack did it because he wanted to make the investigation more interesting, after all, he knew from the start that Mondo killed Chihiro after watching him leave the girl's locker room.
Byakuya 'framed' Genocide Jack for the murder for two reasons: one was, indeed, to lure Genocide Jack out, the other was to see who would be smart enough to see past the red herring and actually solve the crime correctly, and keep an eye on them because they'd be the biggest threats. He literally states, "that way, if I do decide to become the blackened, I know who to watch out for."

Mondo was wrong as hell for killing Chihiro, especially since he wanted his help to get stronger like him. In defense of Owada though, he was raised with that mentality of honor despite being in a biker gang. The emotion he had too much of was pride. That is what led to his brother sacrificing himself to save Mondo's life, but it is also what led to Chihiro's death. Because he was bound by both pride and a strong since of honor, he developed that complex about being weak, and only half the man his brother was which prompted him being reckless to prove others wrong. He wanted to be seen as strong, because that is what a man is in his eyes, a strong man with no weaknesses. In the back of his mind, his weakness ate at him still but he kept his tough attitude to supress it. Enter Chihiro accepting himself for who is and owning up to being a man and wanting to improve himself from the inside out. He owned up to his weakness and because of that Mondo felt emasculated in a way. Here's this little shrimp who is being more of a man than he ever could be, and he envied him. He took all that pent up rage and unleashed it on Chihiro's head. He isn't a bad person, but he kept too many negative things bottled up and he lashed out. Togami was a dick for what he did. He desecrated a corpse to reveal Toko's secret, and the fuck with everyone. I'm glad his ass got humbled later.
Pretty much it, yeah, but revealing Toko's identity wasn't the only motivation for Togami. He also did it to see who would be satisfied with the superficial appearance of the murder, and who would actually dig deeper and piece the true solution together. Basically, he was testing who made assumptions and went for the obvious conclusion, and who remained critical and searched for the deeper truth. As he says himself; "that way, when I do decide to become blackened, I know who to look out for."
I agree, that was also part of Togami's motive for stringing up the corpse. He saw this all as a game to win and not for what it really was. So he decided along with that, he would create a mystery on top of another to see who were the smartest people in the group in case he did want to kill. I don't think he wanted to really kill anyone in the early stages, he would just wait until they all died off enough for him to take advantage. He knew that he could be killed himself if he tried to be the aggressor and any misstep could be an opening for someone to target him. He also had a feeling he would be found out by Makoto and Kyoko if he did decide to kill. The first case shows they became a formidable team due to her sharp detective skills and keen eyes combining with Makoto's determination and hope filled heart, hence why he tested him with the Genocide Jack case. He sees everyone as inferior to him because he is this rich and powerful guy and he believed that alone would carry him to the finish.

I’m weirdly curious to see how Chihiro and Jack’s dynamic would be like if Jack knew. In a comedic skit that is. In canon it would probably end in Chihiro getting impaled.
When I was watching this for five seconds I thought of the way how I watched the anime instead of the gameplay but watching the gameplay for Danganronpa two making me think I hear Komeada instead of Naegi
this is a whole complete story than the one in the anime?? i mean Mondo confirmed he didn't managed to control his temper when chihiro asked "Can you plaese help me? i wanna be a man!" (or smth like that) mondo said "i'm sorry! but-b ut he was so strong and a-and--" (or something like that) and the reconstruction are also quite different so Mondo kinda did nothing wrong (decidedtocommentthisinsteadofreplying)
Yeah, the anime changes quite a few things around, from what I've heard. I haven't seen it, but in the games, the whole reason Mondo had for killing Chihiro was that he always tried to pass himself off as this strong badass biker dude, but knew deep inside that he was a fraud for taking his brother's place and never confessing that his death was his fault. So when Chihiro joyfully declares he's going to change, come to terms with himself and work hard, Mondo gets a rush of jealousy because Chihiro makes it look so easy to just stand up, tell the truth, and improve - something Mondo, despite all his bravado, could never do. Because of this, Mondo briefly loses control and hits Chihiro on the head with a dumbell.
Honestly there may have been the thought of covering his crime. But I’m sure the main reason was to protect Chihiro’s secret. If he didn’t want to protect the secret, he wouldn’t have destroyed Chihiro’s handbook. If it wasn’t destroyed there still could be some suspicion on togami who even after Makoto gave reasons of it not being togami, people were still suspicious
maby monokuma gave him another one of fixed his one, also scince chihiro was already dead when his one was broken there was no use of giving him a new one
At the end of the trial ,Mondo was told to show his card to see if it's belonged to him, but Mondo refused. So Mondo did use Leon's card as Makoto thought.
i’m just gonna say i feel like togami using chihiro’s blood like that was extremely disrespectful and quite disturbing as well.. like he died have some respect please?
The climax comic thing artstyle is so nostalgic. Other people say its sloppy but all I can think about is those 2010 comics i used to read. The art style was very similar to this and it just always sparks nostalgia in me when i see 1 and 2's comic art styles
Thinking about it, what if the entire game was meant to have wrong suspects, and because danganronpa is a tv show, they tried to cut in as many executions as possible ?
My question: Why did Togami even go to the girls locker in the first place? I feel like he might have heard the commotion on moving the body or saw them doing something with the body or belongings so he decided to screw with everyone. But I don’t know why he would decide to go in there. He doesn’t seem like perverted kinda of character, so I can’t figure out why.

1. To mess with the crime scene

I’m weirdly curious to see how Chihiro and Jack’s dynamic would be like if Jack knew. In a comedic skit that is. In canon it would probably end in Chihiro getting impaled.
CHIHIRO DIDNT DESERVE TO DIE.
But what if he did?
Mondo just lost control and that's why he killed Chihiro accidentally
Went to Walmart and saw no Mondo butter disappointment
my baby chihiro AND mondo D:
When I was watching this for five seconds I thought of the way how I watched the anime instead of the gameplay but watching the gameplay for Danganronpa two making me think I hear Komeada instead of Naegi
Thanks for the walkthrough some of these stuff is way over my head
way too hard especially since the trial 1 comic was really easy
Mondo fucked up its illegal to kill a trap!
It sounds so weird hearing people refer to Chihiro as female, because I'm so used to the fandom referring to him as a him
AND THAT'S WHY I HATE TOGAMEME.
but anyways he's an meme factory so there's a way to... "like" him...?
tELL 'EM NAEGI
I felt so bad for Ishimaru cause they became such good friends and he was trying so hard to defend him 😭
Chihiro deserves better :(
It just makes my heartbreak to see my little bby die
this
is
a
whole complete story than the one in the anime??
i mean
Mondo confirmed he didn't managed to control his temper when chihiro asked "Can you plaese help me? i wanna be a man!" (or smth like that)
mondo said "i'm sorry! but-b ut he was so strong and a-and--" (or something like that)
and the reconstruction are also quite different
so
Mondo kinda did nothing wrong
(decidedtocommentthisinsteadofreplying)
Because of this, Mondo briefly loses control and hits Chihiro on the head with a dumbell.
elstormo he also switched the crime scene to protect his identity.
Yes, but that was after the murder, when he realized what he had done. The murder itself was on impulse.
x Delicousnyancake x also, pretty sure the names are different...
Bruh no matter how sorry he felt after it he still fucking murdered someone
So yea he did do something wrong
i had to stop before his execution bc i didn't want to cry again
I can't believe it's not butter.
Mondo*
To translate act 4: byakuya found the body but proceeded to make this harder, just to find someone that simps for him
Honestly there may have been the thought of covering his crime. But I’m sure the main reason was to protect Chihiro’s secret.
If he didn’t want to protect the secret, he wouldn’t have destroyed Chihiro’s handbook. If it wasn’t destroyed there still could be some suspicion on togami who even after Makoto gave reasons of it not being togami, people were still suspicious
but if mondo’s card was already broken, how did he got into the locker room?
DaisyAnimatez With Leon's card I guess
maby monokuma gave him another one of fixed his one, also scince chihiro was already dead when his one was broken there was no use of giving him a new one
Nani?!
At the end of the trial ,Mondo was told to show his card to see if it's belonged to him, but Mondo refused. So Mondo did use Leon's card as Makoto thought.
It's just sad that he killed Chihiro out of blind rage. :(
chihiro the churro boy got killed by mondo the mondobutter
i’m just gonna say i feel like togami using chihiro’s blood like that was extremely disrespectful and quite disturbing as well.. like he died have some respect please?
The climax comic thing artstyle is so nostalgic. Other people say its sloppy but all I can think about is those 2010 comics i used to read. The art style was very similar to this and it just always sparks nostalgia in me when i see 1 and 2's comic art styles
I feel really bad for him, i miss him😔
fun fact, I almost cried when he died, I have never cried during any sort of fictional or real deaths.
I was struggling so I went online to check the real order
Byakuya during the whole chapter 2 trial = "how long does these normies finds out the culprit, they are dumber than i thought. Amateurs. "
7:02 That butter tasted really good!
I cried when Mondo died it was so sad
I loved you Chihiro
Chihiro didn’t deserve this 😞
So, Togami is the one who binding Fujisaki's corpse? That's why Fujisaki's corpse in anime is little bit weird
Bro the part where Monokuma weared a wig tho-
So , Mondo “Totally Not Josuke from Jojo” Owada killed Chihiro “Gotadick” Fujisaki and turned into butter. Interesting.
I forgot how wimpy Naegi's english voice was hahaha
Thinking about it, what if the entire game was meant to have wrong suspects, and because danganronpa is a tv show, they tried to cut in as many executions as possible ?
Togami is a psychopath
Nah he’s ain’t like Junko
Mondo is in a butter place now!
bLOOdStAiNs ON THe CaRpEt
My question: Why did Togami even go to the girls locker in the first place? I feel like he might have heard the commotion on moving the body or saw them doing something with the body or belongings so he decided to screw with everyone. But I don’t know why he would decide to go in there. He doesn’t seem like perverted kinda of character, so I can’t figure out why.
Maybe he just noticed the door standing ajar.
He saw the body moved there. He only cared about tricking people. He didn't care what he had to do to do it
Makoto Naegi In Chapter 1:Isn’t That Right,LEON?
Makoto Naegi In Chapter 2:Isn’t That Right,MONDO OWADA?
Also Rip Chihiro as Best Loli Trap
Poor dude, he was turned into butter
nah cause i don't blame mondo
the timing was terrible asf
-TRIAL: ALL RI-
*HERE'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!*
Dammit Oowada, why did you have to kill Fujisaki?
My baby Chihiro😭😭❤️
And alas the mondo butter puns were created
No wonder chihiro was always called a boy
I luv how da principal is wearing a mondo butter wig
0:33 completely off topic but Celeste looks so beautiful here
Damn it monokuma, you showed them the video so they are motivated to kill each other. Middle finger to you.
No but why dose he look so close to alter ego!!!
Chihiro why the ultimate programmer
I love how the Danganronpa fandom don't care to the victim lol
rip Chihiro Fujisaki
i still haven’t healed from mondo’s execution :(
He's buttet now! No questions!
At least Mondo is in a butter place now with 2X the fat
for some reason when i click mondo to acuse him, kyoko tells me im wrong
update: i clicked on everyone and i guess it was byakuya. i havent gotten to the comic yet
Not to be that guy, but Celeste looked awesome in the comic.
