This tune is great and Nate Smith is amazing but the thing that really stands out to me is this band. In this same set they played freaking PERFECT country music, like Grand Ol Opry perfect execution. Then they played this modern jazz fusion piece. The same players on the same night. Crazy musicianship.
at this level u can get away with everything u play to a certain extent! LMFAO Im sure Nate Smith would be able to smash Metal records as well, in his own way ofc! Though he might not be as suited to it, but at this lvl it just becomes possible...

I love how Chris Thile gets as hyped as everyone else by Nate's incredible drumming.

Not sure about that man's singing tho. 1:34
@@weareallbeingwatched4602 Chris Thile. Virtuoso mandolin player, so-so singer.
@@weareallbeingwatched4602 Yeah, as a fan of the man singing, I sadly agree.
That solo!!! One hand, one foot basically. Off hand and foot keeping more or less ostinato. Crazy.
You can tell that right hand is just begging to get on that ride, fantastic
What a feeling omg...
Simply the greatest.

What a monster
DAFECKKKKKKKKKK NATE! ur a beast
That groove. That FUCKIN groove. Can someone tell me what meter this is in and/or what's happening rhythmically?
17/8. count 4+4+4+3+2
4/4 + 9/8 + 4/4 +9/8
count 7+4+3+3
all of the suggestions will work for 17/8, but I find it simpler to count it as 8+9.
@@pieterjanjordens I feel it as 4+4+4+2+3 personally, but honestly either way probably works.
This is siiiiick
How to end a solo!
Need a microphone for shaker if you do this.
Damn that Mandolin player cannot only dance really good, but he can also sing really flat too.
Should really look into Chris Thile, he's an excellent musician with a very strong presence. I'm sure it may have just been a bad night for him.
@@zsebestien7050 He was just hypnotize by the drummer
