Very much appreciated! Everything worked just as you said. The only problem I had was when I tried to boot in Safe Mode, my keyboard wouldn't work to select Safe Mode. So I had to restart, hit F2, Go into BIOS, Then to USB Perphials, then select Legacy USB Support. After that, I did just as you said and it all worked great! Thank you.
Thank you! This is so simple and works great! I needed pictures off a 9od hard drive from my grandparents old pc they forgot their password too. This worked so well!
I tried this. When I went into Safe Mode, it took me right back to the sign in screen with no Administrator option. I have no idea what to do next. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much! I finally found my old laptop with all of my writing projects on it and could not figure out the password to save my life. You're the best!
Thank you so much! I was locked out of a old little laptop and it doesn't have a disk drive so the resetting was nonsense for me to begin with. This worked amazingly!
I know this is an old post, but what if the Admin does not come up. I have XP pro and the same user name and password comes up under safe mode and reg boot? Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for this info, I changed my password for administrator. Then I kept logging in under another name so my kids couldn't change anything. I forgot my new password when I needed it. You were a computer saver and saved me alot of money from having to take it to staples or best buy
Thank you SO much! I needed to get into a computer that I haven't used in years and I spent hours trying to figure it out, but once I found this video I was FINALLY able to Get back in!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.! I've been locked out of my computer for years and It finally hit me to use the Internet to find out how to fix this. Thanks a lot.
Thank you! I have trying to log into my laptop for almost four years! I couldn't that's why I bought a new laptop...now I can access my old files. Thank you so much!
found an old ACER computer with my account password protected. i knew the password (it was an old nickname of mine) but apparently as a kid i misspeled it for the password. but this helped greatly, 9 years in the future! thanks!
great clip bro, but can i ask you ?, how come it dose not work on my win 7, when i selected to boot up with the safe mode, it still asked me to put the password in, and wouldn't let me boot up with safe mode
He was running Windows XP on a virtual box so even though it looked like he shut down his computer, he didn't. Basically, he was running Windows XP within another operating system.
Im pretty sure that you just can press ctrl + alt + del when you are in normal mode at the login window then the domain login window thing shows where you can type a username, so there you just need to type administrator and then youre in :)
Hi. just watch you video what to do if you locked out of your computer, it goes through the steps well but after that I get the same screen where im locked out and I cant get in to delete the pass word or creat a new one. Help Please
dude, when windows was first installed, they asked us to enter an administrator password, if we entered it then, then its still there. what happens if we dont remember that password? huh?
Who exactly said this was your video anyway?? Last time I checked, unless you have a patent or a copyright on the video, then that means it is fair game for anyone to use. Even if they want to create another video of the exact same thing.
True for you. BUT if your only computer is locked up, that can be more hassle than it's worth. Library computers don't let you download, but you can still order a disk off eBay if you have a PayPal account. (Voice of experience -- 6 years ago. ;} )
The type of computer shouldn't matter (other than maybe the key you press to get to the Boot Option Menu). If you can boot into safe mode, this will work. If you can't, search the internet for instructions on booting into safemode with your computer.
signing on with admin password--------the only thing that loads up is the background picture-no icons-------------no start --nothing along the bottom of background picture?-what could be wrong?-loads up fine when u sign on as guest----tried system restore-didnt work for admin sign on?-any help apreciated? thanks
@ Adam Gaskins, OP Did you remove the tiny green 2 Pin plug Psswrd reset on the Mother board. And then you went into Safe Mode? or Did your remove the CMOS battery, waited 30 seconds put back in then went into Safe Mode ? I can get into, that Safe mode Bios. I did change the System password through the Ultility BIos teh Blue screen. Running in Safe Mode isn't hacking, this feature is Repairing the PC. This is for Dell support repair and any Computer shop.

ok so i tried your instructions. with safe mode on it, and it says that i got something wrong. spelled everything correctly and please reply i really need some help.
the account I've forgotten my password to was already named Administrator, and whenever I turn on safe mode, a new account does not appear and the old one still has a password
There's always a backdoor into computer accounts. By the way thanks for sharing this. My family has an old computer that runs Windows XP and we have separate accounts on it. No one is able to remember there passwords. So it's me to the rescue to try and get it booted up, get on and eventually wipe the machine. Though I'm not sure what we are going to do with it since XP is no longer supported.
@chrisfernan1 lol I know you asked it 9 months ago but, the answer to your problem is in your keyboard, you probably have a usb keyboard while your motherboard doesn't support that before your operating system is booted. If anyone still got this problem i suggest getting a ps/2 keyboard for this occasion.
ok so i did the insturctions . But, I still get the same screen with no administrator account on it. it says the person who had the computer. and i tried guest and it wont work. I also put it in safe mode

Who exactly said this was your video anyway?? Last time I checked, unless you have a patent or a copyright on the video, then that means it is fair game for anyone to use. Even if they want to create another video of the exact same thing.
what software do you use to record this while in boot screen?
This is better than every other way for XP.

Pull out the password jumper located on the inside of computer located on the motherboard it removes every password
