It won't. This isn't mainstream music it's more along the lines of music created for the culture. U just have to look at how many Armys are upset to the point of calling the album trash or saying it's 5/10 at best just because it's not their type of music. Hope World is more in tune with want mainstream listeners want. If Hobi had just capitalized on his popularity and just dropped Hope World 2.0 then we'd probably be having a different conversation. I really respect the risk being taken.

I really love the whole album, but him sampling "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" is mindblowing for me. Him tapping into so many elements of 90s hip hop and R&B made this so easy to listen to beginning to end.
You mentioned him being inspired by RM's Mono, and I think they can't help but be inspired by each other. But even RM said he was surprised by this new take.
I like that each of the rap line took a departure from their first albums and were more experimental with their sound, delivery, and production. I'm looking forward to Lollapalooza and the rest of the albums.

j-hope's flows are so distinctly j-hope. Like you hear these flows on anyone and say "that's a j-hope flow" so I do not think he's doing an RM thing at all. Like neither RM nor Mono-inspired. I have listened to Hope World all the way through almost every single day for 4 years and this is all j-hope. Those little triplets in series, the internal rhyme schemes, the almost poetic repetition of certain rhythms and rhyme schemes--these are all hallmarks of j-hope's rap. And Joon has a lot of consistent elements in his style and none of those are them. So I think you're on your own with hearing RM or Mono influence here.

Agree ,Anyone who knows well J-Hope work as solo artist with Hope world, 1Verse, and in BTS , with Boy meet evil , Dyonisus, Mic Drop , Pied Pieper and so many verse that make every song so particular that it is 1000% J Hope, ..sound coming from his influence and roots, as B boy dancer, 90’s west coast hip-hop, beatbox …nothing similar how RM song or even least Yoongi, without disrespecting ..but each has his flow and colour used in their production ..and here it’s a natural evolution of Baseline and Hangsang …a personal writing, rap flow working on the beat inspired of his dancer influence .. I listened definitely more than 1000 hours of Hobi songs and , I listen RM and Suga to understand their work also and I cannot find any similarities….

I've been HYPED TF UP since Pdogg's interview about Hobi's next mixtape. He said this is something MORE than whatever we're expecting and IT IS!!! As Hobi said, people should listen to it in order because the album's like a book and each song is a chapter, it's a whole EXPERIENCE. His leap from Hope World to Jack In The Box is GENIUS and PHENOMENAL. He's just so flexible and amazing. The literature kid is showing!! INTRO, PANDORA'S BOX, MORE, STOP, = (Equal Sign), MUSIC BOX: REFLECTION, WHAT IF, SAFETY ZONE, FUTURE, ARSON are my FAVOURITES!! every track is sooo good!!!
Besides the hip-hop influences, his musicality, the beat- his lyricism is literally genius! I could slap 'STOP' for an essay/debate as a HUMMS student XD he's a fellow Rousseau philosophy enthusiast!!
This album really showed a lot of HIMSELF and what he can do and to those that looks down on his "solo" skills. J-HOPE is a brand of his own and he's so diverse and great at everything.
I really treasure this gift from him. And I'm so proud of him being more open of his struggles and the weight of his name, of being "HOPE", and how he carried that lifestyle, that responsibility, deep into his heart with such care and fear of its nature which he reflects in 'PANDORA'S BOX' & 'WHAT IF'. And for a fact, he's the most reliable person to ever be granted of such name. He owned it, gave it meaning, proved and worked so hard to be worthy of it- and he did.
I know this might not make a lot of sense, but Jack In The Box is like a reassurance of Hope World. It's like the album is the future, talking to the past "you're j-hope from Hope World and I'm *the* j-hope you're holding onto" he's his own light. Just like everyone being his hope, my hope, my lifeline- Jung Hoseok's hope is himself, and if you read his lyrics, he tells you words that he hoped someone had told him. It's hard to give him advice or try to emphatize with him. He's the one and only j-hope, with j-hope problems. No-one can truly understand his position. You can reach out to him as a brother, as a son, as an idol, as a rapper, as a dancer, as a member, as a fan- but you can't really reach out as another hope. That's why his lyrics mostly feels so enclosed and heavily within himself. Because he figured it out that it's him he was all he needed. He needs to trust himself of being HOPE instead of tryna keep it as just a persona, and he tells us that he's accepted it and ready to take MORE.
I like that the more he's aware of himself, unlike most that let it gets over their heads and becomes self-destructive, he continues to lead the way of a better mindset, of positivity, of being out there, that it doesn't have to be that way. He's not just reflecting, he knows he's the problem and he knows how to solve it. And now he unlocks the point beyond those thoughts of negativity, he sees out of himself, and realized that he wants that unique status, he wants to keep the pace, he wants to keep it burning. He realizes this dream after being freed out of his shackles.
There's always a bigger picture, no matter what you think you had or will be, you'll find something even worthy.
I'm having a huge boost of adrenaline and I'm typing this straight out my consciousness so forgive me if it's a blabbering mess. I really enjoyed the reaction and seeing everyone felt the same way when the vocals came in LOL that's our vocalist j-hope!!!
That's all, enjoy the album and have a nice day ^^

Yes, the whole album gives me nostalgia, too. I grew up in the 90s, and this is the sound I was listening to. I mean, technically Hobi is a 90s baby, too, so I love the vibes and concept in this album. Hearing Hobi’s vocals instead of just harmonies and ad-libs in BTS songs is niiice, too. “Music Box: Reflection” is in my top, even though it doesn’t have any lyrics. It’s like mischievous but comforting in a way. I’ve already added his whole album to my driving playlist. Hobi says he’s nervous, but I know he’s about to pop off at Lollapalooza. So excited!

Being a 90’s kid, it just brings so much happiness to me when hearing Hoseok’s album. It’s brilliant and well-made you can tell he put his soul into this and that he was heavily influenced from 90’s hip hop. Like you listen to this album you certainly don’t expect to hear Hoseok album sound like this and yet when you hear it you automatically are like “this is deadass JUNG HOSEOK” this is HIM, His alley, this whole sound is just HIM. it’s amazing and after reading the lyrics for all the songs, the messages he puts out in each of these songs are remarkable and it just makes me want to yell “TALK YO SHIT HOBI” Like it’s amazing how even though this album is short it makes crave for MORE after listening. You just can sit here and listen to the album over and over again plus grow a deeper love for the album. Hoseok is an ARTIST! This chapter 2 is so amazing and it makes me happy because we get to sit here and see each member individuality and creativity! Also just wanted add how versatile Hoseok is honestly amazing. Like this man went from learning how to rap from scratch to becoming a versatile king with an insane flow 😭❤️
So to let you know on one of the songs on the album, it’s called “What If” Hobi sampled Ol Dirty Bastard “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” which was co written by ODB and RZA of Wu-Tang Clan.
Also to add into this fun fact “Jack in the box” is a type of House dance! If you guys didn’t know. I say you should watch JHOPE’s comeback vlive! He goes in depth in explaining the process of making this album come to life and his songs.

Hearing this has sent me off to talk (A LOT) about how Jack in the Box on the surface could seem so different from Hope World, but that it really it fits right in with his style (I tried explaining to people how Daydream is a house track and I lost some people but I will come back to that one day.)
Anyone who knows he started off as a street dancer would know that his style of riding the beat and bounce comes directly from all the music happening in the 90s...boom bap and backpack and house (I realized there was a whole group of Armys that had never heard Wu Tang, and by extension had no idea of what rap and hip hop sounded like in the 90s). To try and help them understand why this album is so special and WHY that sample was so special, I had to make lots of playlists. This then led me to make a Hip Hop Phile playlist, because it's one thing to know the names of people that inspired them, but it's another to hear for yourself the songs and sounds that were helping shape their style.
I'm sooooo glad JITB went this way, and I hope it encourages newer fans to explore older BTS and Hope World with a different appreciation.

I wish people would stop characterizing it like that. RM & Suga didn't sit Hobi down and teach him how to rap. And there were half a dozen other rappers in the lineup when Hoseok joined. He of course watched them and took their advice but he himself says he's self-taught. Let's give Hoseok a little more credit for the initiative he took, the decade of immersion in hip hop culture he had through dance, and the hard work he put into developing a style that is totally different than what RM & Suga do.

This album was 🔥🔥🔥🔥! I'm sure Hobi took inspiration from both RM and Suga as you can hear both of their sounds a bit in Hobi's music.
From what I've read Hobi initially was supposed to be a singer for the group, but gave the singing spot to V and he decided to rap. Best choice I think, but I do love his regular singing voice.
All in all this album was everything I was hoping it would be!! I can't wait to hear what's to come next!! 💜💜💜

That's actually a false rumor, since BTS was a rap group and was not gonna have any singers when j-hope joined. So j-hope learned rap from RM & SUGA as a trainee and the singers were added on later. However, it's a popular rumor and j-hope happens to be really good at singing so I don't blame people for thinking that lol

By way of correcting misinfo and pushing back on your take: nothing on this album sounds like Joon or Yoongi. Like literally none of it. Unless you have really general ideas about what rap sounds like and put things into broad categories, I think they all come from very different places. And this is so so Hobi. Also, Hobi was a member of BTS almost 2 years before Tae joined. He was always supposed to be a rapper.

@@aggeyboii1753 hints why I said from what I've read and heard. Thank you for clarifying for me. I'm a very baby Army so I'm learning as I go. :)

@@jhopeur7219 What I meant is that you can hear some of the same things that both other rappers do in Hobi's songs, but he does have his own unique sound that is a lot different. However, on another note, there's no reason to be rude about what other people think. It's my opinion and you have yours and we all hear things differently.

I completely agree with you. It's not another hobi it's just updated with the same core. And it really shows how well he's worked on his craft to refine it. Hobipalooza is gonna be crazy though.
JITB is sick though. Not what I expected but very very pleasantly shook. I can't stop listening to it
