I second this. First time listening to mono without knowing the meanings, tears just falling without knowing. Then I read the lyrics, and let just say I need to cold compress my eyes for the next day. This album feels cathartic to me at that time. I realized things about my emotions and struggles because of this album. 💜
I was listening to MOT7 and I love Jamais Vu and I was reading the lyrics on Doolset and in Hobi’s part he says, “ Even if my shadow grows larger, my life and you are equal sign”. And I re-read the lyrics for =(Equal Sign) I can see that Hobi has been thinking about these concepts he outlines in JITB for a long time. What a true artist he is!

it's about to be beyond exciting to see bts' personal projects roll out one by one, hobi knocked it out of the park and we are so proud of him for baring his soul. namjoon mentioned he's 90% done with studio work on his album and that it will probably be the next to come out. he also mentioned jimin's album, so i assume it's also coming soon after that? it's a really exciting time. bts' music is always highly introspective but now we get the opportunity to really get into the nitty gritty and individual thoughts of each of the seven of them and it's really a privilege to get to do that with a musician and lyricist of their calibre.
The thing about BTS music is that as you keep listening to them they start growing on you more and more and more. And you always find new meaning to the lyrics. 💜💜

He's is a super optimistic person, but he's also a realistic person. The other members have also talked about how professional and calm he is behind the scence. He's a very driven person. He has a very funny and comical persona, but if you watch anything where they talk deeply, he's a very serious person who listens to others. I'm so glad he went this direction. His first Album/Mix tape was great when it came out. I loved it and still listen to it. It was very fun and he had a lot of meaning behind it too. This album just shows how far he's come. When I heard More after it came out, it didn't surprise me at all that his influence was 90s hip hop. When the album came out, it was everything I could have hoped for and more. His influences are all through the album. He was a dancer first, and going by the fact he did a remake of Chicken Noodle Soup, you can tell he was greatly influenced by 90s music. You should check out his song Mama LIVE. He does some really great vocals with a choir behind him too. Or even check out a compilation video about his singing. He's a sub vocalist. My interpretation of Future is that the thing he needs too is hope. His future is uncertain and something that he's still figuring out, so it is showing that hope is important to him and something he needs to rely on. He chose children to sing in the chorus because they are the hope of the future.

BTS has Louder than Bombs, RM wrote Persona, Suga wrote Shadow and Honsol (basically half of D-2 is about this topic), Jungkook wrote My Time, Jin wrote Abyss (which kinda ties with it), and JHope wrote now Safety Zone. j-hope has been singing in bts' songs since debut, he mostly does background vocals so that's probably why you didn't know he could sing and sometimes his voice is very similar to jungkook's. this man can do anything and i just can't wait to see his performance at lollapalooza.
My favorite song on the album is definitely Equal Sign. J-Hope's vocals are outstanding. It should be noted that J-Hope is a sub vocal. A lot of people think J-Hope's vocal/voice is Jungkook when he sings. J-Hope can sing high notes too. If you listen to the Blue Side song, you can hear their vocals there too. J-Hope's voice is versatile, he can change and use his voice as he pleases.
j-hope could sing and have extremely great vocals. Equal Sign is him! You should listen to his DNA demo. He did falsetto there! He has such a beautiful voice! For Safe Zone that’s not him with the adlibs or runs. Thank you for reviewing and loving the album!

The only way to listen to this album for me is go through track 1 to 10... If I skip even one track my soul feels empty... This album was made to be listened all together zhats why the tracks are so short.
This album is all the best parts of 90’s music wrapped in a J-Hope bow. One part of BTS that captures and keeps fans is how they share their personal stories and struggles. Of course they don’t share everything but we get enough to follow along with their growth as humans. J-Hope has provided glimpses of his past, present and potential future with JITB. It is an amazing thing to share in the new parts he’s discovering within himself and experience it all with such impressive music. to see hobi go from hope world (his debut mixtape) to jack in the box is so inspiring because he isn't coming out and saying the j-hope persona of being happy and bubbily and the personification of hope is just a stage image but he is also so much more than it. he's accepting that being hope is a huge part of who he is, but the hope wouldn't exist without the other facets of jung hoseok. was so so happy for him at lollapalooza, he absolutely showed everyone who exactly jung hoseok is, hundreds of thousands of people singing along to his korean lyrics in person and 13m+ people watching online on weverse. really shows that they shine bright as a group but also shine bright as individuals. as one of the boys said, they're going on individual journeys to hopefully come back together in the future as brighter and clearer individuals

I love this album. I tried to find the right word to describe J-Hope, but I can't put my finger on it. There's this visionary layer he has -- that is very unique to him and only comes from having mastered a craft while also pushing boundaries. Plus, he's showing a lot of depth and vulnerability in this album, which ironically, is taking a big risk (a vulnerable risk taker?). Then there's the beat which is old school, but the musical combinations are new. Paradoxes abound!

Our J-Hope Rapper, Dancer, Sub Vocalist, Songer Writer, Composer and Producer he's an all rounder for sure. I do love when he sings thing is all 3 Rapper RM and Suga also sing. Then you get the Jungkook vocalist and Dancer yet he can and does also Rap. J-Hope was signed to BigHit as a Dancer and learnt to Rap by practicing with RM, Suga and other Rappers in the dom at the very beginning. Then he quickly started working on Song Writing. But that's how they work they all learn from each other and no one was told to 'Stay in your lane' .
I have this album on REPEAT, jhope never misses with his songs. There's an army inside joke about how everytime we do listening parties on twitter and the whole tl goes "THIS jhope verse is the best verse ever" and it's that tweet on every song cause all his verses are the best. He really never misses, this album is perfect.
i love hobi for doing this album in this manner because now everyone realises that he's not this sunshine jhope 24/7. in fact, yoongi has multiple times on camera said how hobi is not actually very bubbly and happy. yoongi joked once that he should be called j-sad instead (haha). it's totally ridiculous to put someone on such a pedestal that whenever hobi's not smiling in interviews or behind the scene and it's caught on camera people would immediately assume something's bothering him, like one can't keep smiling all the time you know. anyway, love your reaction coz you truly go deep in the lyrics and i appreciate that so much! when you decide to give Hope World a listen, it's gonna sound brighter, happier but the lyrics is still very profound and questioning.

I always enjoy your reactions! You probably already know this but if you want a better understanding of the lyrics it's best to read a couple of different translations. Different translators have different styles - some focus more on translating the overall meaning while others try to stick as close as possible to the original word choices. I would recommend checking out bangtansubs and doolset too!

It doesn't have to be confirmed that it's wrong because bts old videos speak of itself. If you watch their old videos, you can see that J-Hope auditioned as a dancer then get to hi-hop. And him and suga and rm was the first line-up of bts and they even released song in 2012 paldogangsan that was included later in their ep orul82 in 2014

it's not an "unconfirmed rumour", it's misinformation. bts were still a pure hiphop group at that point, hobi was a dancer that learned to rap. he's talked about this many times.

If you really think about it, almost every member in BTS has talk in their music about being scared of how fast BTS is getting popular. BTS has Louder than Bombs, RM wrote Persona, Suga wrote Shadow and Honsol (basically half of D-2 is about this topic), Jungkook wrote My Time, Jin wrote Abyss (which kinda ties with it), and JHope wrote now Safety Zone.
Yesterday Namjoon said that his upcoming album(which is almost done) is gonna be dealing with his experience living as a 29 year old, which means that he definitely is gonna be talking about this topic more deeply.
You can see how open they all are in sharing those thoughts in music because music is their way of expressing themselves and heal.

Colin is the absolute best at translating and interpreting j-hope's insanely genius lyricism
j-hope has been singing in bts' songs since debut, he mostly does background vocals so that's probably why you didn't know he could sing and sometimes his voice is very similar to jungkook's. this man can do anything and i just can't wait to see his performance at lollapalooza.
The singer at the end of safety zone is called Jaicko Lawrence ‼
My favorite song on the album is definitely Equal Sign. J-Hope's vocals are outstanding. It should be noted that J-Hope is a sub vocal. A lot of people think J-Hope's vocal/voice is Jungkook when he sings. J-Hope can sing high notes too. If you listen to the Blue Side song, you can hear their vocals there too. J-Hope's voice is versatile, he can change and use his voice as he pleases.

This album is all the best parts of 90’s music wrapped in a J-Hope bow. One part of BTS that captures and keeps fans is how they share their personal stories and struggles. Of course they don’t share everything but we get enough to follow along with their growth as humans. J-Hope has provided glimpses of his past, present and potential future with JITB. It is an amazing thing to share in the new parts he’s discovering within himself and experience it all with such impressive music. Hobi is a lovely vocalist, I think it's more evident when you see him in live performances for Spring Day, or when he performs more melodic raps. :)

I think doolsetbangtan and bangtansubs are a better reference for a first listen. Colin does context driven translations so there's a lot of his own interpretation in the translations so they're better for after.

to see hobi go from hope world (his debut mixtape) to jack in the box is so inspiring because he isn't coming out and saying the j-hope persona of being happy and bubbily and the personification of hope is just a stage image but he is also so much more than it. he's accepting that being hope is a huge part of who he is, but the hope wouldn't exist without the other facets of jung hoseok. was so so happy for him at lollapalooza, he absolutely showed everyone who exactly jung hoseok is, hundreds of thousands of people singing along to his korean lyrics in person and 13m+ people watching online on weverse. really shows that they shine bright as a group but also shine bright as individuals. as one of the boys said, they're going on individual journeys to hopefully come back together in the future as brighter and clearer individuals

I love this album.
I tried to find the right word to describe J-Hope, but I can't put my finger on it. There's this visionary layer he has -- that is very unique to him and only comes from having mastered a craft while also pushing boundaries. Plus, he's showing a lot of depth and vulnerability in this album, which ironically, is taking a big risk (a vulnerable risk taker?). Then there's the beat which is old school, but the musical combinations are new. Paradoxes abound!

OMG I love you used Colin's translations! No one does that. I used the first translations in the beginning to get a broad understanding but I also waited for Colin's to really understand and appreciate.

Our J-Hope Rapper, Dancer, Sub Vocalist, Songer Writer, Composer and Producer he's an all rounder for sure. I do love when he sings thing is all 3 Rapper RM and Suga also sing. Then you get the Jungkook vocalist and Dancer yet he can and does also Rap. J-Hope was signed to BigHit as a Dancer and learnt to Rap by practicing with RM, Suga and other Rappers in the dom at the very beginning. Then he quickly started working on Song Writing. But that's how they work they all learn from each other and no one was told to 'Stay in your lane' .

I have this album on REPEAT, jhope never misses with his songs. There's an army inside joke about how everytime we do listening parties on twitter and the whole tl goes "THIS jhope verse is the best verse ever" and it's that tweet on every song cause all his verses are the best. He really never misses, this album is perfect.
It's so cool to me when someone knows abt the literary references they use to write lyrics and convey a message.
i love hobi for doing this album in this manner because now everyone realises that he's not this sunshine jhope 24/7. in fact, yoongi has multiple times on camera said how hobi is not actually very bubbly and happy. yoongi joked once that he should be called j-sad instead (haha). it's totally ridiculous to put someone on such a pedestal that whenever hobi's not smiling in interviews or behind the scene and it's caught on camera people would immediately assume something's bothering him, like one can't keep smiling all the time you know. anyway, love your reaction coz you truly go deep in the lyrics and i appreciate that so much! when you decide to give Hope World a listen, it's gonna sound brighter, happier but the lyrics is still very profound and questioning.

I always enjoy your reactions! You probably already know this but if you want a better understanding of the lyrics it's best to read a couple of different translations. Different translators have different styles - some focus more on translating the overall meaning while others try to stick as close as possible to the original word choices. I would recommend checking out bangtansubs and doolset too!
Really the only time he's showed off his head voice like on Equal Sign is on VLive casual livestreams or other side content. That's how we knew it was his voice. ☺️💜
