I feel like the movie changed so many things about the story and events that it'd be difficult to move it in the same direction as the book. But I'd love to see them try!

I do somewhat hate this movie for the countless inaccuracies to the book and parts of the story they just made up... but I do appreciate the wee easter eggs linking to the radio show, the tv series and to Douglas himself that they decided to include!

@@elnico5623 I think he was only there for some of the planning phase. He suggested some things, like the Vogon Slapsticks, but he wasn't there for the majority of the planning since he died in 2001 and the movie came out in 2005.
They kept in a few of his suggestions, but a lot of bits were added by the writers and directors which were just irrelevant to the main story of the book.

I am SO happy I don't base my enjoyment on a film on if it is EXACTLY like the original work or not. If it were based on the book line-by-line then enjoy watching your 12-hour long film, buddy. 😂😂😂

@@MrTomSpencer What's the point of making a film based on someone else's work if you're gonna play loose with the actual plot and just change stuff you don't like about it??? That's like Mel Gibson releasing Braveheart and claiming it's a documentary of William Wallace's life.
Even disregarding the Hitchhiker's series, it's basically a sitcom humour film with an all star cast.

Another tack is that there’s actually 4 hitchhikers guide, I’ll list them in order of release. Radio show, bbc show, book, film. The reason it’s a different story in each version is because of the heart of golds improbability drive. The only thing I found in common in them is the whale and bowl of patunias

With Ian Hubert as art director and VFX.
    Jay Foreman as Arthur,
And tho I loved mos def as Ford.
I would choose someone who would be more accurate to the books.

Did you know the film was an abomination compared to the Original English tv series . Anybody wanting to see the actual original story needs to find and watch the original This film has nothing in common with it and was a deserved flop!

    • @triplestaff

It's a commercialised Hollywood version of a very weird story, of course it's gonna be a bad adaptation. But just seen as a movie, ignoring all the inaccuracies and changes, it's great. The special effects still hold up, and the casting is one of the best in any movie. The TV show is a much better adaptation but it's not a great TV show. You can't have both with hhgttg, it just doesn't work in a visual medium.

Which original? Radio, books or TV show? Douglas Adams worked on them all!
