I went to the eye doctor a few weeks ago. She suggested that I need bifocals at some point. The earlier the better. I told her I might as well go ahead and get them. To get use to wearing them. She told me there will be an adjustment period until I get used to them. The doctor was right. I can see better now with them. I didn't realize I needed them until I went to the eye doctor. My primary care doctor suggested I get my eyes checked since it's been 4 years since I had them checked. I'm glade I did.

This is only my third day wearing these but I am having trouble with segmented design on a GP lenses which Dr tried after my first attempt with aspheric was met with much "I can't see anything clearly!" Right now the right distance is great but I can't see up close any better than normally. Meanwhile the left lens is the opposite. How do you know which end is up or do they adjust while on your eye?

So the contacts actually stay in place somehow? When looking down

@JohnnySilverfoot I reckon it works much like the others. The rays entering from a book are just more likely to come in from a somewhat lower portion of the cornea and contact lens.

I've been trying to figure out how these work and I think only in 'segmented' designs are they meant to stay in place and slide over your eye when looking down. The actual meaning of 'simultaneous image' contact lenses is that they produce both the near and far focused images on your retina, and your brain actually learns to distinguish the two. So, the designs with concentric rings really don't work as most people expect. This video is incorrect by glossing over this aspect which is what I was trying to find a video about. I am going on week 3 of my multifocal Contact Fitting. The first time was horrible. One contact was for distance and the other for reading. My brain didn't like it at all. It gave me a headache and I felt weird driving home. I couldn't stand the headache so I removed them. I am not one that suffers from headaches unless I have the Flu so that was weird for me.
I didn't feel confident in my driving skills when I went to the grocery store nor could I read the ingredients on the package of dog food. That sucked big time! The next weekend I was given a different brand and this time it didn't give me a headache but I still can't see street signs up close. I own a 65 inch TV that sits less than 10 feet away, some of the fonts is a little blurry.
The doc said I was only going to see 80%. I'm not sure what that means. I have an appt this coming Saturday 10/30/21 I'm not sure what to expect. My expectations are very low now.
It would be nice to see clearly both reading the PC screen, street signs, and more. My main reason for contacts is for using my safety goggles in my workshop, using my camera, and binoculars without bumping the lens into my glasses.
I'm starting to think that's not going to be achievable. I'm doing my research now. Good luck to you people doing your research. Angel from The Bay

@@dwade6322 I got frustrated and decided to use them for distance and had to carry my reading glasses.
I ended up with extra boxes of contacts still sitting on my dresser. I use my glasses now. I never really got the hang of putting the contacts in my eyes without irritating them (really red) after many attempts by myself.
I also noticed I have to apply drops all the time because they feel dry and scratchy. I bought the disposables.
My wife used to help me. I think I'll just sit this one out for now.
I'm not sure there is much they can do for me right now Dec. 12, 2023
