i just got a job at target literally today im kinda nervous for orientation lol. I applied for seasonal cashier ending up getting a full time permanent job in fashion ig im lucky but defiantly try to apply the money is good and im sure it will look good on your resume .
I think having your availability open is super important! It’s good to have workers who have availability open especially during the Christmas time, holidays, & weekends! Thank you for these very helpful tips.❤️
Back in the day ( pre covid), I would sent the application and then call the store right away. It shows dedication. Had 2 interviews on the same day, and got hired. It was pretty simple. I was the cart attendant, then the Inbound/ Flow Team. That position requires you to start working at 4AM. With that being said, you can’t have a normal life while working in that position!!
This is amazing! because you are sooo right a lot of people need jobs right now or even just an extra job to make extra money and these tips are so helpful the main thing people struggle with is the interview process and lasting the first 60 days!!!
A seasonal position at Target is both a good and bad thing. Seasonal TMs get taught how to do a lot because management wants to see whether or not they can pick up things quick and do it well. The more you know and the better you do it the more likely you're to stick past the holiday season.
This is really helpful for people who want to work in retail. Companies like this are obviously pandemic-proof as they sell essential items so it’s great to get a job there specially nowadays.
This is so thoughtful of you to share these tips, I’m sure especially prospective applicants find this information helpful, it’s good that they sometimes keep seasonal workers after the season ends
I got a job as seasonal Fulfillment a month ago and I genuinely enjoyed it and want to continue. During orientation hr told us if we are interested to stay to talk to her about it but I’m very shy and don’t usually build up the courage to talk to her in person :,) I usually email her when I need something but I feel like a nuisance I just don’t know what to dooooo. I feel like this is an important thing to talk to her in person but next Saturday is my last day… (only work weekends)

Target is the last place you want to work. I applied in 2018 heres what happened. I was scheduled for an interview at 3pm. I arrived at 2:50pm and asked for the hiring manager and the manager at front end said shell be right with you. I was like okay. I waited until 3:30 and asked the front end manager again and they said shes not in the building. I almost waited over an hour. That's unacceptable. I should have left but i needed a job and some money. I barely started college too. Like stop sending people on the run around. They was wasting my time like seriously.
I applied to target for the beauty section back home and even after I graduated college just cuz I didn't work for my 2 years in University. But didn't get it. Oh well. It wasn't for me I guess. I applied to my current job, the manager called me a few hours later asking if i could go in the next day for an interview, had a second interview 2 or 3 days later with another manager, started 3 days later & got moved up to assistant director in 11 months (10 if you count the month we were closed for covid)

I'm not sure if you can help, but on my application, it has a question saying, "What is the latest time you can work on Sundays?" Can you explain what the question is asking about latest time? The question before that says earliest time.
I applied for Outbound stocking in 2021 and my response came back as SORRY BUT WE DID NOT SEE YOU AS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THE JOB POSITION. "Bummer" I said to myself. Then I applied again this year in early February for cashier and my application came back and same thing: I got rejected. Target is so confusing and I've watched a lot of Target Tips Job for Applying and none worked for me.
So, I applied 2 weeks ago today and I called for an update two days ago, she asked for my name, she pulled up the application, then asked my availability. I said 5pm during school days to store closing and during the summer I can do anything. She said “Gm’s usually come at 4pm but we can worry about that once august comes” (we start school in august) She was SUPER nice! And after that she said she’ll answer by the end of the week and to check my email. It’s currently Friday, and nothing :/ if the application isn’t accepted, do we get notified?
This is really good helpful tips I mentor kids who are looking for jobs so this would be helpful for those wanting to work at target thanks for the great tips
Its sad that we think $15 an hour is good especially when they take a ton of taxes out. Take home pay is still very low for what you do in retail. They work on skeleton crews.
Hey I was wondering if you get hired they can wait for you around 2 weeks to start? im currently employed and if I end up hired I would like to put my 2 week notice before starting at target. Do you think they would mind that?
Is the video interview automated? Or do you have to be chosen for the interview? I just submitted my interview video last night and am hoping to hear soon! I’m from Nebraska too! ☺️
Would they hire somebody who’s 15 1/2 ?? I’m extremely available and have fantastic people skills, & I learn reaally fast. google says they hire at 16 but I’ve seen people say they got hired at 15 1/2, so I’m very curious
Im not sure if you still reply to these comments, this is actually my first week working at target and i got hired for tech. For some reason my first day I was at tech for two hours maybe and the rest of the week they have me working GM closing?? I for sure didn’t apply for that and wasn’t told anything about it ever. I want to talk to them because i definitely don’t want to do that position and want to do the position I got hired for. I don’t want to do too much because i legit just started. Any advice on how I should bring it up?
Hi Kaitlyn 👋🏻 so I did applied and I got my virtual interview and stuff. How long do I have to wait for them to view it? also I saw that Im i to general merchandise team member. What are the pros and cons to it? Thank you so much!
Le me help you with this. If you apply to Target and don’t get the job, then fuck them, go work at Walmart, or whatever, it ain’t that serious. If you can’t work on weekends then you better have a damn good reason why you can’t. Target does want reliable employees,, which all jobs do, but don’t take it too seriously. After all, it’s just Target!! Also, if you’re going away to school and you still want to keep your job, you can either go on a leave of absence, or transfer to another store. For transferring, I would recommend being in good standing at your current store. Also, if your HR ETL from your o/g store says that they can’t take you back, that’s bullshit, and they are fuckin liars (I’ve transferred from stores multiple times). Trust me, I worked at Target for 2 years, and as of now has been my longest tenured job to date.
Agreed! Or honestly just keep applying cuz they pay the best that I’ve seen compared to other places! And yes that is so convenient that you can keep your job that way! Just keep a good standing like you mentioned since I’ve seen people not be able to cuz of bad attendance, calling in, etc!
i did the hirevue interview and had a follow up interview friday 😭 they said they’ll have hr call me, should i call them if i dont hear anything for a few days? i was thinking to call by wednesday if i dont hear anything
Ugh I’ve heard of this problem too! I really believe they randomly go back and forth and say yes/no on all the applications and don’t even look at them lol
i just got an email from target wanting me to do a video interview! My only question is do they pay all their workers time and a half on sundays, even if they dont work over 40 hours? im currently working at walgreens and they are paying me overtime when i work on sundays, wheter or not i worked more than 40 hours that week !! im 16 btw
That’s awesome! And no target typically doesn’t like overtime and on Sundays it’s just normal pay! They don’t do anything like that! You only get time and a half on holidays that we are open!
@@KaitlinSonday for some reason I’ve already applied to target 3 times in 5 years and they jeep rejecting me I don’t know why. I literally have experience in customer service, cashier and retail. I applied as a guest advocate can you please tell me like what am I doing wrong?
So I applied last November of 2021 because I wanted a winter job but I didn't get hired but I just applied again yesterday to work when I'm done with college so I'm hoping to get it this time because I can commit longer.
I applied and did a video interview and I haven't heard anything in over a month. Yet they still have the position I applied for advertised. Super frustrating.
I just got a message from them, they rejected me cause I didn’t have what they were looking for. I’m will yo learn and that’s what I put, they had the poster saying there hiring but no. Should I try again?
Wait so I applied and got rejected, they said they’d want me to apply again in the future though, but do I have to wait 6 months before applying again ? I need to find a job quickly, the store Im currently at is closing down :(
I know this question to this video is super late but I applied for seasonal Guest Advocate at Target but got a video interview email for the Food Team Member position. Do you know what that is?
When you say work on the floor jobs so is that basically stocking those selves? So if its the beauty dept then stocking that section of the store? Can someone please clarify this for me :)
I am not for sure! I’m sure if you are going o be here for awhile or do a season position you could! That would have to be someone you call them and ask about!
Help !! So I put that im available everyday at all times but I didn’t think that they would ask for an Interview so I signed up for summer school 😭 what do I do ?! When or how do I tell them that I’m available from 4-9pm ?! Also I applied for seasonal but I want a full time job cause I need money for college 😩 do you know how that works ?! Can I switch ?! Can I apply for other stores still ?! does your age matter in you want to work in a certain department?!
I would do the interview and then mention how you just signed up for summer classes so you’re open to other positions available in that time frame!! Age doesn’t matter anywhere!
People say for beauty they ask questions in the interview about how you take care of your skin what kind of stuff do you use kind of questions in the interview? The Max how many questions they say
These were some great tips! I don't know why but I hate it when I have to do an online interview in which I have to record myself ahah, I think availability is very important in retail jobs!
I called HR to check on my application progress ( I applied 6 days ago) and he didnt even asked for my info he just told me to wait until i get notified (if accepted) for my online interview in 1 o 2 more weeks :( I rlly need a job.
So I applied to the target near me and got rejected. Once after an interview online and another I just wasn’t considered. I really want to work there. When should I apply again? Should I call them or go inside?
Currently hoping I can apply soon and get the job, it'll be my first ever job though... Do you think that theyw ould only ever hire anybody with experience?

Great video 👍 I did my HireVue video interview yesterday & got an email today saying I got an invitation to connect with a Target Store Leader. So I’m not sure if that’s a second interview or meaning I got the job. 🤞 So I’ll be speaking to someone tomorrow 😊
I've applied multiple times and gotten rejected each time. My availability had been 1pm-11pm for Mon-Sat. And 7am-10pm on Sun. Is my availability not good enough? What am I doing wrong? I've applied for GM and Food.
I would maybe call and ask HR what availability they have in those positions! Then make your availability to that! It’s sometimes just random honestly so just keep applying! Temp are good cuz they usually keep you on after seasonal!
I have applied 3 times, and got rejected… what are they looking for 😭 do I need to go personally to the store and introduce myself? BECAUSE i WILL I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR

I said 5pm during school days to store closing and during the summer I can do anything. She said “Gm’s usually come at 4pm but we can worry about that once august comes” (we start school in august)
She was SUPER nice! And after that she said she’ll answer by the end of the week and to check my email. It’s currently Friday, and nothing :/ if the application isn’t accepted, do we get notified?
Oh that’s good! I would potentially call again early next week if they still haven’t replied!!
Check out my target video 💓 I spilled all the tea ☕️
I'm not giving up I just submitted a second job application.
This is really good helpful tips I mentor kids who are looking for jobs so this would be helpful for those wanting to work at target thanks for the great tips
That’s awesome!! And yes! Or really anywhere is a good place I feel like!
So helpful the local target is actually hiring right now I’ve been thinking about applying!
You should try it out!😊
Is there a dress code at target?????
Its sad that we think $15 an hour is good especially when they take a ton of taxes out. Take home pay is still very low for what you do in retail. They work on skeleton crews.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!
YOU’RE WELCOME!!
Hey, I just applied online and I was wondering if you called and told them you applied? Or did you just apply online and got a response?
It depends! I would apply and sometimes they reply right away but I would also try calling if they didn’t reply in two days!
it's great you're sharing these tips for those in the job market
Yes I agree!
Thank you so much this helped a lot
I’m glad!!
I’m looking to get my first job at target, do you think they would be willing to hire someone with no experience (im 16 btw)
Yes! It’s just retail and I didn’t have any retail experience!
This is so helpful for those curious about it!
Hey I was wondering if you get hired they can wait for you around 2 weeks to start? im currently employed and if I end up hired I would like to put my 2 week notice before starting at target. Do you think they would mind that?
Yes you can say when you are available to work and if you explain to them once you actually get the job it should be fine!
I'm socially awkward and anxious so it's hard to get any job
They never hired by me applying online and waiting for email I think I need to call after submitting
Yes try that! And make sure availability is open!😊
Does target hire people who have never had a job
Is the video interview automated? Or do you have to be chosen for the interview? I just submitted my interview video last night and am hoping to hear soon! I’m from Nebraska too! ☺️
You will have to be chosen! And good luck!!🙌🏼 and omg amazing! What part?
@@KaitlinSonday I’m from Lincoln!
Omg girl me too!💕
What’s your insta? 😊
@@KaitlinSonday Emilykayyee❣️
Would they hire somebody who’s 15 1/2 ?? I’m extremely available and have fantastic people skills, & I learn reaally fast. google says they hire at 16 but I’ve seen people say they got hired at 15 1/2, so I’m very curious
I just got the rejection email from target 😢 a few minutes ago
Hi, I’m 16 years old and have no prior work experience. Should I still submit an application even though I haven’t work before?
So how is gm and food service. I got the job but is it a good position and what will I most likely be doing. I have orientation on the 29th
That is good too! You can always switch around after awhile too!😊 did you get GM or food service since those are two separate things!
@@KaitlinSonday I’m in food service
Im not sure if you still reply to these comments, this is actually my first week working at target and i got hired for tech. For some reason my first day I was at tech for two hours maybe and the rest of the week they have me working GM closing?? I for sure didn’t apply for that and wasn’t told anything about it ever. I want to talk to them because i definitely don’t want to do that position and want to do the position I got hired for. I don’t want to do too much because i legit just started. Any advice on how I should bring it up?
I would just ask if you’re supposed to be in Tech more! Either your leader or HR!
Hi Kaitlyn 👋🏻 so I did applied and I got my virtual interview and stuff. How long do I have to wait for them to view it? also I saw that Im i to general merchandise team member. What are the pros and cons to it? Thank you so much!
It should be within a week! And depends on what GM area you’ll be in for pros and cons!
did you got the job?
How long did it take them to get back you you after the interview?
i did the hirevue interview and had a follow up interview friday 😭 they said they’ll have hr call me, should i call them if i dont hear anything for a few days? i was thinking to call by wednesday if i dont hear anything
i’d say call them and ask them for updates!!
Yes I would call and get an update!! Sometimes t he y get busy and might forget to deffs call them Wednesday!
@@KaitlinSonday Thankfully I don’t have to 😭 I received a call today from HR that I got the job!!!!
@@monica-nh6kw congrats!
How long did it take for them to contact you after the hirevue interview?
Right now I have a virtual interview and I'm afraid that I won't do well, I just lost my job at Walmart and I really need this job
Yes you will it’s super simple!
@@KaitlinSonday Thanks 😊
It's been very hard because I have applied almost eight times and they keep on turning on me away for some reason I don't know why
Ugh I’ve heard of this problem too! I really believe they randomly go back and forth and say yes/no on all the applications and don’t even look at them lol
I know I'm late but the thing is you can't even check your status of your application
Yeah it’s annoying!!
I feel you I feel like you just got to know some people cuz my friend work there told me they weren't hiring but then they had the hiring sign up..
And I thought they had that open invitation before pre-covid
i just got an email from target wanting me to do a video interview!
I applied, should I go in to the store and introduce myself and make myself known and show I mean business?
Going in won’t do anything! Calling is your best bet!
So I applied last November of 2021 because I wanted a winter job but I didn't get hired but I just applied again yesterday to work when I'm done with college so I'm hoping to get it this time because I can commit longer.
Yess you got this it’s honestly random so just keep applying!
I applied and did a video interview and I haven't heard anything in over a month. Yet they still have the position I applied for advertised. Super frustrating.
I would have called to get an update on your application! If you do f hear back after a week
I just got a message from them, they rejected me cause I didn’t have what they were looking for. I’m will yo learn and that’s what I put, they had the poster saying there hiring but no. Should I try again?
Yes try again in a week or so! They get so many applications so its easy to get lost in the cracks!
@@KaitlinSonday thank you I will definitely try again!
I currently work in retail but the place I work at is really far away and target is closer and has better pay wish me luck
You got this! What retail place do you work currently??😊
@@KaitlinSonday sorry I never replied i didn’t see this but I work in a store called Heb
Check out my target video 💓 I spilled all the tea ☕️
Wait so I applied and got rejected, they said they’d want me to apply again in the future though, but do I have to wait 6 months before applying again ? I need to find a job quickly, the store Im currently at is closing down :(
Oh no! Hmm maybe try applying at another location? I would also try Walmart I know they hire super quick!
I know this question to this video is super late but I applied for seasonal Guest Advocate at Target but got a video interview email for the Food Team Member position. Do you know what that is?
Yes that’s market so anywhere in market could be where you work!
When you say work on the floor jobs so is that basically stocking those selves? So if its the beauty dept then stocking that section of the store? Can someone please clarify this for me :)
Yes!! Otherwise it would be cashiers
What’s the right thing, when I apply should I put black /African American or leave it empty? I am not African American but African Arabian.
That shouldn't matter! You can put whatever you feel like is best! They don't discriminate !
Hi, I recently started working at target seasonal. I really like it, would you have any suggestions on how to ask to become more than seasonal?
Mention to them you want to stay and can work other departments if there isn’t room in yours!
Can an international student get a job at Target?I would be glad if I get a response from u. Thanks...
I am not for sure! I’m sure if you are going o be here for awhile or do a season position you could! That would have to be someone you call them and ask about!
I just got hired for beauty spot I am so excited $15 an hours I am so great full🥺😏
HECK YES!! BESTIESS
Im trying to get that $15 dollars an hour 😫
Omg yes!🙌🏼 it’s so great! They just did some raises too so I’m making a little over $15 now!
This is so helpful or those needing this! I could never do retail again. So many horror stories. 😅
Hah omg I really haven’t had too many bad experiences so that’s good! Lol
@@KaitlinSonday - Being on a commission based floor for over a decade isn’t easy, but the money is good 😌
It depends on how deep your interviewer will go! Mine barely asked me anything! Lpl
These were some great tips! I don't know why but I hate it when I have to do an online interview in which I have to record myself ahah, I think availability is very important in retail jobs!
Thank youN and me too it feels so awkward lol
i applied and got accepted for the virtual interview AHHHHH i did it last night but now im anxiously waiting to see if i got the job or not
Yay!! And it’s super easy so you got this!! Let me know if you get it!❤️
I just did my virtual interview an hour ago ✨😬
@@samantha12699 I’m gonna be doing that today :)
Im gonna apply to Target online soon, but wondering what’s the name for like stocking or working in the back or sports shift
So they don’t have just working in the back positions anymore! Any stocking will be by department so whatever you think you’d want to stock!
I called HR to check on my application progress ( I applied 6 days ago) and he didnt even asked for my info he just told me to wait until i get notified (if accepted) for my online interview in 1 o 2 more weeks :( I rlly need a job.
Dang that’s dumb!!
Hey quick question, what are those people called where they clean, restock and help costumers?
It depends there different departments since every department does that!
So I applied to the target near me and got rejected. Once after an interview online and another I just wasn’t considered. I really want to work there. When should I apply again? Should I call them or go inside?
Yes! Apply again! Online, in store will get you no where! I had to apply 3 times to get in lol
Currently hoping I can apply soon and get the job, it'll be my first ever job though... Do you think that theyw ould only ever hire anybody with experience?
Yes! It’s just retail so nothing crazy!
Hi all the Target job ads on the website say “Posted 30+ days ago” I applied to like three Target jobs but they sent me (what looked like) an auto email the next day saying they have no roles available. Is this a problem for anyone else? I really really want a job there but all the ads are from 30+ days ago
Yes they do that so much it’s annoying! Just apply for multiple roles! And have very open availability! Try applying for other locations too!😊
are you able to carry your phone with you while working?
I am!😊
Great video 👍 I did my HireVue video interview yesterday & got an email today saying I got an invitation to connect with a Target Store Leader. So I’m not sure if that’s a second interview or meaning I got the job. 🤞
So I’ll be speaking to someone tomorrow 😊
Yes that’s awesome! More than likely yes you got it! They ask just a few more simple questions and then they usually set up orientation!
Did you add a summary/objective in your resume?
I've applied multiple times and gotten rejected each time. My availability had been 1pm-11pm for Mon-Sat. And 7am-10pm on Sun. Is my availability not good enough? What am I doing wrong? I've applied for GM and Food.
also i see some comments for temp positions, what are some examples of temp positions
I would maybe call and ask HR what availability they have in those positions! Then make your availability to that! It’s sometimes just random honestly so just keep applying!
Temp are good cuz they usually keep you on after seasonal!
Does the beauty area work also in cashier ? If so what position doesn’t
They do backups! Every position is trained to do backups if necessary! The one that typically doesn’t is only fulfillment!
I got hired as a style consultant what should I expect from that ? What do they do ?
Doing a lot of clothing freight and folding the clothes on the shelves!
I have applied 3 times, and got rejected… what are they looking for 😭 do I need to go personally to the store and introduce myself? BECAUSE i WILL I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
Big thing is availability!! I wouldn’t go to the store since you’ll most likely get shrugged off and it’d be a waste of time!
@@KaitlinSonday thank you so much! I guess because I work at my school, maybe that’s why they didn’t take me :/, I only work two days at school and only for three hours too :/
Me and my twin sister are very available and we both put the same times that we can go and guess what, only she got accepted not me.
I have a question iam a High Schooler and i would like to apply and work in electronics would me being a student affect the chances of me being hired?
Nope it wouldn’t!!
@@KaitlinSonday Thank You and i do not know if Target takes into consideration small jobs i worked with a small company that would just pay me to work for a while and i do not know if i should point that out because i do not know if it is considered work experience if taxes where not involved
