Great video. Love my lightning, but i'm also the kind of person that does not customize my trucks beyond a box cover and floor mats! It great to hear meaningful videos that discuss a problem of an EV without blindly bashing them just because of personal opinion and its willing to comment on the good as well. Everything said in this video was 100% true. EV's are truly for people who buy the vehicle for what it is, and are not interested in trying to change it.
Definitely cheaper than gas in my area with power just under .09 per kWh but the power price vs gas price will be the driving factor for that in most cases
My answer tends to be, as long as you aren't towing, its a full size pickup with the efficiency of a prius and then I leave before they can ask more questions
CT owner. Drives good. A little under 300mi/charge @ highway (75-80). Pretty close to that with a bed full of material and the cover open. Comfy, self levels. If I need clearance I can tell it to get tall. Angular enough, ugly enough, and big enough wheels & tires to not need a kit.
Very cool/futuristic looking truck, congrats man! Will be curious how that highway range holds up in extreme cold or heat, but regardless if you are near 300 at highway speed that's incredible.
No Soul, No Fun? Totally disagree. 23 Platinum. Took off the 22"s bought 20's with Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT 235/60. Lowered the rear 1.5" Same exact range. And with 580 HP and 775 ft-lb of torque. This truck kicks ass!. And I've been a gearhead for 60 years now. Grew up with some bitchen muscle cars. love this truck!
I had a hellcat and 392 before and definitely miss the noise, performance wise you are right it's plenty fast - just in a numb way (23 platinum as well so same truck now). Sometimes the future works better and is boring... LOL
I have a Lightning XLT Extended Range and don't necessarily agree with the point about it being boring. The performance (0-60 in 4 seconds) is phenomenal. I've never owned a true sports car so maybe it's because that kind of performance is new to me but I find it exhilarating. I don't drive like a bat out of hell or anything but when you need the acceleration it's there and it's fun. My prior truck which is still own is a 2015 XLT. I never was a big mod person so that helps. Any time you mod any vehicles suspension such as big tires, lift kit etc. you are negating the engineering that went into that vehicle - ICE or EV - and compromising both your safety and the safety of whoever you hit (or hits you) in an accident. A lot of the nastiness/attitude about EV's is from people that can't afford one so that is to be expected.
It's the auditory response that makes them boring for people who have had/enjoyed sports cars and muscle cars. It's almost like a movie with no soundtrack or words, even though actions can still be impressive they don't have the same visceral effect. Glad you are enjoying it though, acceleration is definitely roller coaster strong!
A dream vehicle for me. But it costs 150 000 dollars plus 25% tax new here in Sweden. And there is not one single used one for sale in the whole country. The cheapest gasoline F-150 costs 79 000 dollars plus tax to buy with a 2500 dollars yearly road tax however so even the gas version is out of reach for most. Someone should ship a couple of thousand used Lightnings over to Europe. They would sell out in an hour.
I think they have a massive import/export tax, plus this would likely be a major burden with more narrow roads. With that said I wish you could get what you wanted in any country at a fair price.
Excellent points. I live in Mass and theres plenty of guys that are not on board with EVs and thats fine. The Lightning has a place in the truck space that many guys just dont/wont understand yet. And yes there is the political "thing". But when you learn about the financial "thing" , if you are paying attention, the political thing is not a thing. EVs are in their infancy. In 5 years, innovations will swing the tide. I got my Lightning back in April and at that point Tesla chargers were just getting on board. I got a Lectron adaptor and now I fear no roadtrip. But I knew going into it that I wouldnt be relying on public chargers. My XLT is awesome! Its not for everyone. But it fits my needs very well and the fuel/financial savings are......shocking!!
@@themanreview Well, I pretty much love the sound of a muscle car. That's what my second car is for....fun. I do charge at home as well, I wouldn't buy an electric car if I couldn't. For the most part, I don't think it makes a lot of sense.
Excellent points and good video. I'm asked the same questions and after I tell them, most just look at me funny. I personally think they may have brain damage. 😁
I don't care what other people think! I bought it because it's what I wanted and not what the the other party wants us to buy. I had Range anxiety on my fist road trip from Cape Cod to Maine after my 1st stop to charge it all went away, I charged 3 times and that was it, I love My Lariat Lightning Fantasic truck.
You care too much about what others think of you. You don’t have to answer anyone’s question(s). Political group? Your money you buy what you want, period. I was ready to hear real points. Not someone to add to the generic group that pays more attention to others’ life than theirs.
I think it’s important for most people to know what comes with the purchase, not saying I regret it but reality is reality. Hopefully there were some positive points in it as well though… Trying to share info.

Glad you agree and love your lightning! Thank you for the kind comment
The ride quality bc of independent suspension is far superior combined with crazy quietness makes this my favorite truck ever
Agreed it's quiet and smooth, not a fun one but easy to live with for sure!
Have you found this vehicle to be any cheaper to operate over a year? I bought a Jeep PHEV and love the electric part, now I want more...

Smart man and factually correct... LOL
I have had my Ford lighting 4 months and had a good understanding about altering form factory designs
That's great you came in prepared, just don't lift/level or put on big tires to really use a lightning as intended

Glad you got around the political thing and enjoy the financial aspect, that's really where it wins if you want to drive a truck daily.
Classic jagof*.....if you don't own your home, don't buy a Lightning.........level 2 charging is $6.25/week ( so there's that...)
That is like only one of 20 points made....
The "boring" aspects of an EV ....like not going to a gas station....are pretty exciting to me.
They are perfect if you never enjoyed muscle car sound, home charging is definitely more convenient (road trips however are a nightmare).
