I love the sound of I-9 Hydras lol. Killer bees with light oil or an authoritative quiet buzz with light grease. Both are great hubs. But there’s great joy in killer bee mode gaining steadily on someone below and ahead of you :)
This is the first of your videos I've seen from this camera angle, and it's actually really helpful for those of us wanting to get a sense of what you're doing with the bike, vs. just seeing what you see.
I didn't like this angle at first but then realized that it does a pretty good job at countering the go pro effect as well as allowing you to see way down the trail. Good stuff, Phil.
It's amazing to see Skully's evolution. Went from muddy loam with ruts & flat corners (2017) into a superhighway (2021). It's super fun now with how fast it is, but I'm glad I rode it before to appreciate the work that went into it!
To your comment of more kids riding.. yeah I think mtb and skiing/sbn are great family sports. I really enjoy watching my daughter progress. She has a passion for it. It is great family time and good outdoor time. Watching you go through those trees, like watching a video game! Great stuff keep it up please
Hi mate, I bought a mountain bike (Giant Trance 3 2020) after watching your Whistler videos. Absolutely loving it!!! (living on Sydney's Northern Beaches). Keep up posting awesome videos. Cheers
It’s so awesome to see how my old stomping grounds have grown, As I went to private school in Williston, when I was there Cochrans was just a one rope tow and two runs, it looks like it has gotten way bigger. I also enjoy seeing that Bolton ski area put in bike trails, also seeing snowboard footage from the winter brought me back! How has catamount family recreation area grown? you should do a video there as well.
The extra wide angle is both cool and weird. It gives a really warped view of your arms, but at the same time we're also seeing just how much bodywork is going in to your riding. Hello Haley!
Nice to see you and your bike dancing down the trails Phil. btw, got my AbsoluteBlack Oval chainring in the right size this time - so nice. The first one was a bit large for my bike but worked under sag, anyway, got a 32 tooth to replace it but in the meantime went back to my original round chainring - now 2 rides later though chunder tech - my legs are so much happier and climbs not such a drag. Really have to develop the trails round here - not a heap of elevation but some great tech forest trails following the forest harvester tracks.
I have to say. Even though I ride BMX (street f/s) I love watching your videos. They have a totally different kind of adrenaline rush to them. I've thought about giving MTB a shot (more than just rolling through the woods near my house, but I'd eat it so bad on a mountain it wouldn't even be funny. Keep up the videos, I love watching them when they pop up!
I’ve been thinking about taking a trip over to Cochran’s for a while now. I’ve not ridden their before and it looks super fun! If you haven’t gone in a while I would highly suggest Cafu Hill! Thanks for the great video!
WoW! How I have missed videos of Phil fucking flying through the woods! I’d say he like the 29 inch wheels are still pretty agile! Great riding ! Love the video!
Been watching your videos for 2 weeks straight. Went to sky park in Santa's Village in So Cal. yesterday. It was pretty sick hit my first double black diamond and black diamond run. It was the only place open Snow Summit and all of the National Forest from Mammoth to TJ is closed because of Fire.
The windscreen is doing quite a good job, but I would recommend turning off the Automatic Gain Control if the camera has an option. If you listen @7:55 or so you can hear the audio levels quite noticeably decrease as soon as you get rolling. That's basically just your camera automatically reducing the volume when the incoming sound gets large. It kind of sounds "muddy" or muffled when the AGC kicks in and I think your wind screen is doing a good enough job that you could do without it.
Guess I know where we are headed this weekend! lived here all my life and sorry to say never been to cochrans :( Given Saxon Hill plenty of my life so time for something new!
Hey phil thanks to you I am getting back into biking and I'm making my next bike the polygon siskiu n9 with 27.5 size wheels and size medium so I can flick it around thank you for posting
Yay new Phil bike content! I don't even care that you weren't at Highland haha. (this is just my opinion but I like the chin mount view better (although you probably weren't wearing a full face so it's all good))
Love your videos. Wish there was a way for you to do a speedometer overlay in them just so we can see the speeds you hit on the trails. Think it would be cool.
Oddly enough it seems like even when it is busy, I barely run into people there. It seems like the traffic is able to get really spread out since it is such a big area. Only place I really see people is up by the flags.
My home trails! Been sidelined with a broken leg and surgery since Feb, so getting in the woods isn't possible. I'm a VMBA/ Richmond Riders Club member and love seeing these trails so much. I hope you checkout Chamberlain! ..... and I wish you picked Visceral ;-)
Hey phil im a vermonter who lives in Randolph and we have two sick trail networks. You should come and ride them. If you want to see them go onto rasta's website and click randolph trails. There sick
I’m curious on whether your prefer the 29er now that you’ve spent time on both, or the 27.5. I made the changeover in the opposite direction with a Kona Process 153 in 27.5 and it’s now my favorite bike.
Love the riding, as always, Phil! Gotta say though, not sure how I feel about the new setup. Almost made it hard to watch for me. With that said, thanks for all the hard work! We appreciate it! 👍👊
Hey phil! would you ever considering upgrading to the new fox forks like the 36/38. Also, would you consider running a coil rear shock like a DHX2 or any other brand. if so, why or why not? Thanks!
Who else wanted to see Phil do the pump track???
yeah :D
Me, the fish eye perspective is so weird though
I like it
I wish Hailey had her own videos when she rides with you. I would love to see a complete ride from her perspective.
I agree Hailey should definitely post some new videos on her channel
The field of view is tripping me out, you have the longest arms in the world!
I feel like a baby kangaroo watching this xD
Haha I took me a while to get this
Literally pissed myself reading this
Hahaha 😂
Sonny O’Dare considered seeing a doctor?
Dobrze powiedziane 😉😉 siemanko
It’s alway weird seeing a place you’ve skied when there’s no snow.
Love these trails! Buddy from my old school masterminded a lot of them. Don’t get to ride them as much as I would like anymore
Damn Phil... You got mad skillzzzzzz... flying down the trails!!!!
YES NEW POV got tired of watching your whistler serie over and over lol
Dude.... same here😂😂
I like POV but the FOV was a little too wide angle, hard to watch.
John The Dwayn Rockson I don’t really like the new camera angle
Thank you so much for the vid I love watching you.
Thanks my dude!
The tubing in the video is for the maple sugaring operation that the Cochran’s run.
Thank you! I was literally scrolling through the comments to see if anyone's asked the question.
@@Candesce lmao me too
@@Candesce Same here lol. Thanks !
I just learned something new
Thanks
Love the silent Onyx hubs, Phil! Good call!
I love the sound of I-9 Hydras lol. Killer bees with light oil or an authoritative quiet buzz with light grease. Both are great hubs. But there’s great joy in killer bee mode gaining steadily on someone below and ahead of you :)
@@mrsmartypants_1 bees chasing you makes you ride faster for sure
YEAH PHIL HAS A NEW VIDEO!! I have been watching your whistler vids over and over and over the past few months lol.
This is exactly what I have been doing lol
This is the first of your videos I've seen from this camera angle, and it's actually really helpful for those of us wanting to get a sense of what you're doing with the bike, vs. just seeing what you see.
Me: thats an impossible rock roll
Phil: Watch me do this in 3 tries
Great to watch again a traditional Skills with Phil riding video. They are the best 👍
I didn't like this angle at first but then realized that it does a pretty good job at countering the go pro effect as well as allowing you to see way down the trail. Good stuff, Phil.
Love these Onyx hubs. thank you for spec'ing that; your videos are much more pleasant.
It's amazing to see Skully's evolution. Went from muddy loam with ruts & flat corners (2017) into a superhighway (2021). It's super fun now with how fast it is, but I'm glad I rode it before to appreciate the work that went into it!

Thanks for helping to put Vermont on the map! We’ve got the goods 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Its kinda refreshing to see the northeast as it looks very different from BC
I just got back riding my local trails and felt like I was flying. How does he double my speed! Phil is definitely my mountain bike idol.
You must really know those trails, the way you fly off little blind jumps and round corners gives me the willys!
This vid makes Monday a a lot better
Phil has some of the best pov footage out there.
I like the versatility in the camera perspectives!
Cochran's is getting better all the time!
Hi mate, I bought a mountain bike (Giant Trance 3 2020) after watching your Whistler videos. Absolutely loving it!!! (living on Sydney's Northern Beaches). Keep up posting awesome videos. Cheers
Absolutely rippin!
Me: trying to do hw and zoom
Phil: Uploads a video
Me: This can wait I need to watch the new vid
Ur top comment again
So true
Why couldn't they use discord instead of zoom
@@blakejamieson389 all the gamer would troll on discord lol. i agree
You guys still have school? F to pay respects.
Thank you Phill for this video! Couldn't ride for two weeks and still can't, brings me joy watching this great POV action, cheers!
Phil is AMAZING
Used to ski race at this hill, great family and a awesome little race hill!

you should do a video there as well.
ok ... that was insane riding ... those trails are steep and gnarly and you made it look easy !!!
Phils heart was pumpin at the prayer flags. lol
The quiet Hub really makes a difference
The extra wide angle is both cool and weird. It gives a really warped view of your arms, but at the same time we're also seeing just how much bodywork is going in to your riding. Hello Haley!
Beautiful trails! Wish I lived in Vermont
I like the camera view. It gives a good perspective on how much you are leaning
Awesome rolling, guys! On the DL for a few more weeks, but your content helps with the stoke! Thanks for sharing!
I can't tell if your line is by choice, instinct, or maybe some luck, but wow lots of skill and fun to watch.
the wind noise sounds much quieter. Great video Phil. I just started a MTB channel of my own, and I hope to be like you one day!
Cochrans is pretty fun. I've only been there once last fall with my brother who goes to UVM. It looks like they added some stuff. Cool.
I love how you never really use the bars to steer, but use your feet and hips and it looks sooo smooth.
Nice to see you and your bike dancing down the trails Phil.

I'll have to bring my bike up to Vermont next time I'm visiting my family, thanks for the great content.

One heck of a trail. I'm here in New Mexico, so very dry. Cheers!
Awesome flown and pace! ✊ Inspiring 🤜🤛🙂
Hey Phil, I saw you went to Mt. Snow 6 years ago. You should come again and see the changes they have made!
Those trails are rad!
mad how much speed you get out of the little hunps you pump on. the sound your tire makes when you pump into them burms haha
Phil - you best! Greetings from Russia)
Awesome video ... dude you have zero fear 👀😆🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
It's hard to get over how _green_ it is there.

Highland mtb park is open btw phil

Found your channel while looking up Thunder Mountain. You look familiar. Have you been to Killington Bike Park recently?
He's got such a wide camera angle that when I'm rollin it feels like I'm being caressed by phil😂😂
So does smugglers notch have a lift park for bikes yet??? That place I remember from 20 years back thinking it would be epic to roll on a bike
Are those maple sap lines criss crossing all over the place?
Yep! You can buy the syrup too it’s a local brand
I wish my local trails were this rad.
I miss the empty parking lot. (But man is it fun)
