My favorite Ethnic number ! I love Nelly's strong voice and charisma! This song has been covered so many times by singers on the Voice Romania! A classic! Jordan your dances and reactions are so cute! I am obviously OBSESSED!
Ethnic music and motives relate more to Romanian ones, than Ukrainian. Maybe that crash of dancers on their knees is more of Ukrainian/Russian inspiration - because we, Romanians, don't have it. The language she sings in is also Romanian. "Hora" is also a Romanian dance - I couldn't find the translation of it, but it is a dance in circle, where all the dancers keep their arms on the neighbours' shoulders. Moldova is not also a neighbour of Ukraine, but also of Romania. Romania and Moldova are "sister countries" like Greece and Cyprus,, like Azerbaidjan, Tadjikistan and Turkey, like Estonia and Finland, like Kyrkizstan and Kazakhstan and so on. RO and MD were one country until 1940. Btw. 1940 and 1991, MD was under "Russian Power". Starting with 1991, MD is one of those 14 independent Republics which resulted after Soviet Union's desintegration. The second language of all these 14 Republics is Russian (even in Kazakhstan of Dimash😀). It seemed to me that I saw you reacting on him, didn't you?
@@JordanDavisEurovision OK, have a look at the link down-below, it's a short hystory of Moldova, in 12 minutes (in English). 🧐 ruclips.net/video/cARe_1cRj6E/видео.html
Just dropping by to correct a mistake: Tadjikistan is not culturally or historically related to Turkey and Azerbaijan. Perhaps you meant Turkmenistan :)
It's so unfortunate, but because I speak Swedish, I'll never be able to take this song seriously. Because in Swedish, "Hora din Moldova" literally translates to "Wh*re your Moldova"...

Thanks for all of that information! I definitely want to do some reading on Romanian-Moldovan history.
