- The Artichoke Hold was created by Jeremy Oertel at the Williamsburg Restaurant Donna. The Artichoke hold makes masterful use of both St. Germain and Cynar bringing the two into harmony in this lovely, simple, tropical style cocktail. The levels of notice me senpai so hard in this video right now lol
Yes, god damn
YYYEEEESSSSSSSSS
Make it happen now!!! Might want to invite Steve as well, that would be awesome :) 👍
Man I want the How To Drink + Educated Barfly Brooklyn Bender to happen
I will be campaigning for this as everyone else should
Brooklyn Bender! Now there have to be t-shirts too.
So do I, especially if Steve the Bartender can join them
if you guys pressure Greg into making a brooklyn bender happen there will absolutely be T-Shirts!
@@seanmcgrath3826 OMG let's make it happen!!!!
Finally got myself a Cynar bottle and made this. Very good and complex drink with a taste that evolves all the way.
Love these "modern classics" using normal ingredients, but still insanely creative 👍
Definitely one of the most unusual recipes I've seen in the category of modern classics. On paper the drink really doesn't seem like it should work, but it's quite tasty - very tiki.
You've got the point .👍
Thats why I waited 3 years till I naturally gained ingredients like Orgeat syrup , passion fruit cordial and ect.
Just want to throw in how much I love both your videos and that I practically religiously watch both you guys, I’d so love this collab. However, I could see your style work incredibly well with Cocktail Chemistry and I think it’d be a good foot in the door.
Oh the bloopers from that video will be gold!
I just made this. It is easily in my to 10 favorite cocktail list. Such an odd cocktail but insanely good. Like nothing I've had before and everything I've had before. Only way I can describe it.
This looks really good. I think this is the one that will finally convince me to start branching out into rum cocktails especially since it only requires one brand of rum.
I thought Steve and Leandro were enough in my life, but as of this video I guess Greg is part of it as well
With such conviction, I must try this cocktail!
Thanks for the drink sir.🥃
This is an awesome drink!
I've opened my own liquor store in my kitchen thanks to your channel. Please don't tell my local authorities.
That's the trick, buy the bottle (the answer to "How many amaros does a home bar need?" is all of them) and move on to another combo before the bottle is half empty! But I got Cynar for my birthday, and it's pretty much all I want to drink. This sounds delicious, and you were very silly during this video. I approve..
OK. I've been resisting the Cynar, but ya got me on this one. Great reaction on the sip!!
BTW, fantastic hair!!! 🤪
I saw "artichoke" in the title and immediately knew this would be a cynar cocktail lol
Greg and Leandro? Yes yes yes! Maybe if you spill some liquor, Greg will be impressed! Btw, will try this drink shortly- love it when I have the ingredients already!
I just did this. It´s fantastic, super flavorful, bright, tart, fruity. And so simple!
Did Jeremy Oertel get his medal yet?
I keep coming back to this drink because it's such a great combination.
Keep it up dude. I dig this channel.
The sounds like a great hangover cure - this morning. I'm really feeling all of the Bushwackers - that I drank, now, last night. They tasted like Govida Milkshakes. Perfect after having worked in the 124 Degree Heat.
1 Ounce Dark Rum
1 Ounce Coffee Liqueur
1 Ounce Dark Crème de Cacao
2 Ounces Cream of Coconut
2 Ounces Milk or Half & Half
1 Cup Ice
A road trip series of videos 👍
Come on, fans of Leandro! Comment on H2D stuff and let's make this happen!
Crushy pants, slappy poo..lovely vocabulary
I was born and lived the first few years of my life near Williamsburg. My parents small old apartment went from about $600 a month to over $2500 its crazy how much has changed there.
It's gone really fast over there.
@@TheEducatedBarfly indeed!
If you do that New york thing make an itinerary also you could get paid by those places to ad for them.
I think it would be awesome to see Leandro and Marius (not sure on the spelling, sorry) on the night out! I'm sure the resulting video would be great!
Correct spelling!
Off topic. I got into rhum Agricole in a BIG way last year. Without trawling through your vids, do you have any cocktails which have to have the grassy notes of agricole to set them off. I mean, for me, a dark and stormy using rum instead of rhum just doesn’t cut the mustard any more. Well, I’ll still drink it...
So a while back I made a caipirinha using Rhum JM blanc. Made it the usual way with the crushed ice, lime and cane syrup. But then I poured a little peppermint essence (which is just mint oil in this case) and stirred it all up for gits and shiggles. Man, did it work! Not so unlike a mojito I suppose. The overall plantiness of the all major ingredients is wonderful. It’s so good I named it twice! The globe of essence look like pearls among ice diamonds, so I called it 1) diamonds & pearls and 2) treasure chest. The former is my favourite. Hey, I was drunk!!
guessing your home bare is slightly bigger ;)...Would love to see actual footage of the entire Leandro Backbar / Home Bar
Can you do an episode on those liquors that cannot keep fo long like Vermouth? Something like vermouth. Can you keep lillet, cynar, etc.... basically I want to know which bottles can keep for long and which have to be consumed quickly.
thank you
I'm a subscriber, I'd love to see that video! 😁
Will I ever have all the ingredients? I think the more I get into this, the more interesting / obscure / etc I tend to want to try! Sometimes I have everything I need, except I need to go make some infusion... so it goes. ;)
The problem is I've built up my backbar and I still want more cynar drinks. I absolutely love the stuff but want more drinks for it.
New word- Slicey Hanky. Use it when you are slicing fruit.
Wow, I've never seen you fired up like that about a cocktail. Too bad Cynar and St. Germaine aren't available here.
Is this a mai tai?
Excellent! I'm going to give it a try with Golden Age Edelflower liquor (because here in Argentina St. Germain is ridiculously expensive), and Cynar 70 proof.
Also, Leandro, how is possible that you haven't done Fernet Cola yet? It's our iconic mix here! And it's delicious!!!!
Yes! You’re right! I’ll get to it for sure!
If you're ever in Atlanta...I know the good places man!
What's your list?
So as we build up our back bar, any advice on which bottles can be kept long term and which like vermouth you have to throw out in a month?
Chad Winters basically any bottle which has a distilled spirit can be kept indefinitely anything made with a fortified wine such as vermouth, quina quina, Lillet, Cocchi Americano, Bonal, etc has a shelf life of about 3-4 months in the fridge
Just get the cynar bottle and do shots of it. Cmon
Come to London
Come on Greg!
What about that full Galliano bottle at background? 🤔🤔🤔 Next drink must contain Galliano! 🍹
We got that one for the Harvey Wallbanger. We'll make some more with it.
When are you going to do an ouzo cocktail?
Why don't you do an ouzo cocktail?
Please use ouzo
I love ouzo
What do you got with ouzo?
Hey Leandro, have you used ouzo yet?
Hey, why haven't you used ouzo yet?
Can you sub out the St Germain with ouzo? 😉
How long does fresh lime lemon and orange last ? Was going to juice some but didn’t want to do to much and waste it
Jace8587 orange goes bad in a few hours it should always be juiced fresh and used, lime has a 24 hour shelf life and lemon has maybe 48 hours
The Educated Barfly awesome thanks !
Need a St Germain idea? I have one: the Sunflower
What glass is that? The only glass I can find like that is Libbey in a pack of 12
It's a Libbey Glass... www.webstaurantstore.com/libbey-170-heavy-base-14-25-oz-english-hi-ball-glass-case/551170.html
Do you make all your lemon and lime juice fresh? Or do you buy fresh squeezed juice? How many lemons does it take to fill one of those bottles?! I have a home bar and I’m finding that citrus is expensive!
We make everything fresh. A full bottle takes a few, but depending on how many cocktails you make you might want to use a hand press and fresh squeeze the day of. Lemon and Lime juice deteriorates quickly and is really best as fresh as you can get it.
I second with the ouzo guy from below
St. Elder, that's all I'm saying.
Have you made a cocktail with Canton on the channel? Would love to see one, thanks!
Not yet but I can work one in
The Educated Barfly awesome can’t wait, thank you !!
Why dont you do only st germain cocktails from here on out.
Who is Greg? Honest question.
Greg is the host of the RUclips channel "How to Drink" - another entertaining and well-produced cocktail channel.
Thanks! Oh that Greg! How to Drink is how I found The Educated Barfly. That would be a lot of fun to watch. Add Nick from Cocktail Chemistry and that would be an amazing party.
Whats the shelf life of a cynar?
It remains "fresh" for 2 years after open.
@@anegativecoconut4940 Aright. See I thought of it like a vermouth.
Gabriel Toledano no it’s a distilled spirit, doesn’t really go bad
Go to Angels Share on the lower east side. Trust.
This cocktail is genius close to wrecklessness, just as i can taste that a skillfull master has combined ingredients in a fragile balans and is walking the tightrope of just about falling off…. At the same time it might as well been an assembly of ingredients of an overenthusiastic apprentice that got a lucky shot. So complex, just about right or wrong. I am not sure. For one thing it is an exciting drink…
I’ve been watching this channel for a while now but I gotta ask - whoTF is Greg?
Fairly certain he's referring to Greg from the channel How to Drink
Yep. I figured that out while I went through a tunnel and lost my signal!!
I finally went out and got Cynar because of this video and then weird shit started happening. First as I was making my purchase a giant cement truck sized cocktail shaker pulled into the parking lot then I saw a billboard that said "Birds aren't Real". I haven't even tasted the stuff yet and it's making my life really weird.
So 5 ingredient cocktails are “not a lot”.....I’ve been thinking about this wrong
2:58
@howtodrink my man get this over to New York
Never skip the "slappy poo"
Do it
Alright but is that fruit bowl behind you filled with fake fruit?
Nope. It’s real LOL
Please get rip roaring drunk on cam I would love it
cynar only tastes right for a few weeks dude
Guys someone enlighten me on Gregg's identity
he's a guy from another cocktail channel
How to drink.
Thank you!
11 people couldn't try the cocktail
Of you have massive luck
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the crazy amount of ice in each drink kind of cheapens the experience? In bars, it makes it seem like your getting a lot, but it's mostly just water and 5 minutes into the drink, it's mostly a water diluted drink that has lost a lot of flavour.
The is so cringe.. Its so clear the Greg dont care, he is making fun of you in so many episodes...
Uhm k
Slap vs crush is just a matter of perception.
Slap looks like you're getting mint on your hands.
(Snappy, flashy, bursting of mint flavor all over the place)
Crush looks like you're getting hands on the mint.
(Eww sweaty bartender hand juice all over my mint... Now it's in my glass... Uh... This drink doesn't taste as good...)
Dude- lay off the coffee before shooting
it ain't coffee it's ADHD nothing I can do about it...
Slappy poo? How old are you again?
desperation is disgusting. shut up and make the drink
