Gotham believes that Batman & Bruce Wayne are dead. Bruce is still alive & uses the fear toxin as a new way to scare criminals & keep Gotham safe as "Nightmare Batman".
Grim Knight Legolou12 By there was now way I was gonna do it, I meant that I was not gonna be bothered my arse to do it :/ I probably would have solved them all but I borrowed it from a friend and was just as content to just watch the full ending on RUclips
Once you defeat Riddler, Bruce kind of gives away what he needs to do to Selina. He claims he needs to become a myth, something greater from the ashes of the Batman
AlphaMunky yeah I like to think so it be very stupid for him to kill himself and alfred he is the new batman with the hole world thinking Bruce is dead he no longer needs to pretend and become batman full time
actionvids35 I understand what you are saying but it made sense for why he's pretending he is dead. It's because if he came out, his friends would easily be in danger because they all know Bruce Wayne. With him covering it up, he wouldn't be putting his loved ones in danger. (Nightwing, Robin, Arkham Knight (Jason Todd), and others.
Really glad you guys loved the exlpanation! Just beat New Game+ and totally realized how Scarecrow sees the Batman in the Knightfall Protocol when Batman injects him with the Fear Toxin, pretty much confirming this explanation true!
CabooseXBL is their any new detail in the new game+ or was it just seeing batman man in the same way that scarecrow did and after initiating knightfall protocol?
CabooseXBL i think that the wearid batman was red hood, and could bruce really get out of his house that quick? buacuase as soon as he got in the house blew up, and i think red hood bucuase he saved batman in the where the people find out its bruce wayne and if you pay attetion theres a red bat symbol on red hoods armor. and sense jason was the arkham knight, he would defintly had a good amount of fear toxic.
CabooseXBL Didn't like the protocol knightfall ending and why rockskedy would wanna destroy the Bruce wayne identiy that was revealed by Scarecrow it could have end it better my personl opinion but Just one question now that bruce wayne/batman became a myth after his presuming death does Alfred, Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Tim Drake wayne/Robin, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, James Gordon and possible member JLA Clark kent/Superman knows he still alive as Batman only especially Alfred, Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Fox since he is the one who provide batman gatgets sometimes...let me know your personal thought.. thank you
JaegerBomb1892 EXACTLY!!! That was the whole point of this extended ending. If people think Bruce is dead they no longer question who the batman is. He's not human, he's legacy!
lol right with you. At 96% and watched the ending without the weird "batman" thing so just had to look that up on RUclips. Not spending an entire year just looking for trophies....
Wouldn't it make more sense if Jason Todd is the new Batman? He carries the title of the game, he turned good in the end, he worked with Scarecrow so he probably got some fear toxin and would use it against thugs.
Guys the new Red Batman with fear toxin like bat swarms is absolutely JASON TODD. Here’s a few reasons why. His whole arch was about redemption. After Joker kidnapped and brainwashed him, his sole drive was to take vengeance on Batman. But when he confronts him he’s clearly obsessed with the fact that not only was he left, which could be understandable, he was replaced completely by Tim Drake. He’s hurt because he wanted so badly to be Batman’s Robin. To earn his approval. So when Batman sincerely apologizes and tells Todd he’s not lost, that he can still redeem himself, he realizes that is what he truly wants. And that’s why he shows up to save Batman at the last moment. That’s why Batman says he knew Todd would track him after the Scarecrow abducts him. So motive is established, but what about means? We have no idea how Arkham Knight managed to recruit, supply, train, and transport that much extremely high grade military equipment personnel. All we know is someone stumbled across one of his training camps in South American jungle. But somehow not only did he manage the logistics of this, he funded it too... Or someone did at least. And all without leaving enough evidence for even batman to be able to find a clue as to his identity. There was no warning ahead of time that this was coming. He completely surprised Batman. Maybe Scarecrow paid for it, maybe Todd funded it through criminal means, or maybe there’s an entire shadow figure behind it all, but the bottom line is if he could lead that, I imagine providing gear just for himself would be feasible. Lastly, when we see the new Batman attack the criminals, he seems to be using fear gas of some sort to attack them. Who just spent several months or more working side by side with the guy who makes fear gas? Jason Todd... The guy had access to the tech to create a combat suit that went toe to toe with batman best suit. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine him stealing or figuring out the formula to that fear toxin and creating his own weapon iced forms of it. It would almost be harder to imagine him not doing it. So we know he’s out there somewhere with the ability, the methods, and more than the motivation, an obsession. I sort of assumed everyone else would think the same, but I haven’t seen a lot of other posts about this. I think it would be an awesome idea for him to take over and still be struggling with his own demons. Trying to forgive and redeem himself for all the damage he did to the city. Wouldn’t be hard to imagine he might have his own little Jokers walking around in the dark spaces of his mind. It would be interesting to see how a relationship working with Nightwing and Tim Drake would play out, and Commissioner Gordon as well since none of them wouldn’t know who the f**k he was. Meanwhile, Bruce is still out there, somewhere, in hiding but watching and waiting... I’d pay to see it.. Or play it!
I read a pretty convincing theory that it still is Batman. Not Bruce Wayne, no he died when the Joker took over his mind, but Batman defeated Joker and in the end what was left was only Batman. Basically Batman is now a full time job. I think it's meant to be ambiguous, because the Jason Todd theory is compelling as well. Even if we got the Red Hood DLC. That DLC could have been before Arkham knight, or better yet after the game but before he became batman (since he got the bat symbol on the back).
Sigurd Torvaldsson no because in the game he just became red hood and red hood uses guns not toxin and it would be weird to change his persona like that that fast
Sigurd Torvaldsson it is possible that its jason but it makes more sense in the storyline after all thats happened and been said that it would be bruce wayne
CabooseXBL i did not played the game or will, i have seen all of it in youtube video and i got three ideas: first: if that fire bat was in the story which means that someone took batman's place, and he save those people from those criminals. second: if that was what had bruce saw in his mind, then it becomes clear that bruce went to his past and overcome it by becoming the fear of those criminals. and now he is fearless before dying ( if he really did ). third: return of bruce wain ( the batman ) after escaping from his house and changing his suit to a destructive point and you can see that he is a different person. so no one can say that he is bruce wain ( the one that try to keep gothem going and not destroying it ).
CabooseXBL You, there should be 3 endings, the two you mentioned, and an extra. Just walk away, dont attack, and dont break the sword. Just walk off. After a little bit batman will congratulate you and you go on your way
So this is what happened I think. With Batman’s identity revealed, he activates the Knight fall protocol. Which leads citizens of Gotham to believe he is now dead. When in fact, he is now protroaling Gotham full time as Batman, and using the fear toxin on criminals, which is why you see a flaming bat. So in conclusion, Bruce Wayne faked his death which is making people believe he is dead. So people see him as dead. But the Batman lives on. So it turns out Batman is alive, and he did not really die.
And now that he's back again people would know that he's still alive, therefore undoing Knightfall? He doesn't kill people so word is definitely going to get out. Doesn't make any sense.
Found little clue that it's not the end for batman... If you listen to the conversation he has with penguin heading to gcpd. He asks Batman "what is next will he dress as a Squirrel?" Batman replies "You'll See".
@@WTFLUCKI No it wasn't Batman that faked his death it was Bruce Wayne, he faked his death so everyone thinks that The Batman is dead(since his identity was revealed) and then A new one comes and of course now no one knows who the new one is
I have no words for how fucking incredible this ending was. Holy hell. What a masterpiece of a game! What a trilogy. Just wow. This trilogy made Batman tie as my no. 1 favourite hero along with Spidey (Bat used to be second). Thank you, Rocksteady!
I think that when Scarecrow released the fear toxin on Gotham, the thugs got infected by it, and what is the only thing criminals fear in Gotham. Batman. That Batman is just in their head, and with them still being afraid, they'll be afraid to commit a crime in Gotham. The other thugs might've also gotten infected and with them being afraid, there'll be no more crime. 2 ways that the thugs got infected were: 1. They went/were outside when the fear toxin was released or 2. The fear toxin is still in the air and they got infected by that little bit left. Thank Scarecrow for helping Batman get rid of crime in Gotham.
yeah I think that too but I think its batman beyond that's the new batman but since have the fear toxin in them it makes batman beyond hell of a lot scarier but that's just because of the suit I'm not putting lore into it or anything
I also personally feel that Bruce is still strapping on the cape and cowl, but he's playing a very different game this time (Essentially the same ideas Caboose-XBL is pushing). The point of the Knightfall protocol is as a contingency plan in case what Scarecrow made happen, happened. Batman is unmasked and thus becomes vulnerable in way he's never been. He looses the mystique he's built up, because now everyone knows it's just a man beneath the batsuit. Listen to the chatter of thugs before you engage the Knightfall protocol while you clean up any remaining side missions, or talk to some of the supervillains in lock-up. They've all become far less afraid of Batman now that they know he's just Bruce Wayne with a tank-car and really high-end body armor. Batman, in being unmasked, looses his prime edge; the fear he inspires in the criminal element of Gotham. So he fakes his death, knowing that much of the city will also likely consider the possibility that the destruction of Wayne Manor after his unmasking is retaliation for his actions as Batman, now that his many enemies know who to target. He fakes his death and waits. Waits for Gotham to get used to not having Batman, to accept that Batman was just a rich guy in a suit who had a good reason to go around every night beating up criminals. Then, he comes back, with a new look and possibly a watered down, more direct version of fear toxin, and he plays less the vigilante angle, and more a sort of supernatural monster angle (he's definitely got the tech on hand to fake supernatural powers, right?) To re-establish that prime element that he lost when he was unmasked; the fear he inspired. Thugs won't be frightened of another guy in a bat-themed super-suit, but a inhuman bat-demon will scare the piss out of them. And, even if people suspect it's the old Batman, Bruce wayne, that itself just adds to the terrifying supernatural mystique he's trying to build up again. Easily the entire city, and probably the entire world by the point he hits the streets again in demon-bat mode, have seen the live news footage of Bruce Wayne in costume walking into his manor and getting killed seconds later by a massive bomb. Everyone, even Gordon, Robin, and Oracle, think he's dead and buried. So as far as they're concerned, even if they think it's Bruce, they're going to maybe reach the conclusion that they're not just dealing with some sort of crazy mutated bat-monster or a guy in a bat-shaped suit; they're dealing with the first Batman, the man they know to be Bruce Wayne, returned from beyond the grave as a superpowered, inhuman monster. They're dealing with a being even death could not stop. Remember the key line about criminals in the 100% ending: "They're a cowardly and superstitious lot." When enough of their buddies start telling stories about a literal bat-demon swooping down on them, the rest of the criminal element are going to take them seriously, and the possibility that this bat-demon patrolling the streets is the original Batman is even more terrifying because it would mean he's come back from the dead as something wholly unnatural and inhuman. When you really stop and think about it, it's actually pretty brilliant, and absolutely awesome. Bruce gets to keep fighting the good fight, but because the world considers him dead, all those people he dangled in the crossfire get to move on with their lives in relative safety and happiness. Plus, faking his death makes his return carry even more impact when he plays up the supernatural defender-of-the-innocent monster angle, and gives him back the fear that unmasking him took away. There's also a pertinent line from Scarecrow that really explains it all at a base level: "We both know fear is theatrics, Batman. So permit me the indulgence of putting on a show." Knightfall is Batman theatrics, a grand show, of the highest order. Faking the death of the man everyone knows is Batman, only to return again some time later as an apparently supernatural entity.
ISchulz Wasn't that really supposed to be Batman? A guy who had you beat before you even saw it coming? So quick and strong that not even the most trained fighter in the world could beat him? And than rumors spread about a Man-Bat thing that criminals began to fear? The new Batman would not be changed, but would return as a super advanced, early form. A guy who was stronger and faster than anyone else, but fighting for justice, while wearing a suit with a cape. A guy who was thought of as a myth, no one would know who or what the Batman is, no one would know what he's doing, no one would know if he was even real. The only one who knew Batman, is Batman himself. In my opinion, that would be the definition of second Batman. (which is basically what you are saying, but re-iterated and interpreted by me)
Get theory, best ive heard so far, but what about bruce's social life? Would he contact his friends? Also, how would he get funded if bruce is "dead"? I dont think the bank would allow a random guy take out money from a different account. But even if he did wire (or withdraw) some (if not all) of his money to a seperate account/himself, a few billion of dollars can only last batman for so long. How would he get more? And what about alfred? I guess he would still be with batman, but what about his life? (Quick question, what does alfred do in his spare time?) Thats all of the questions i can think if. Please reply, i really want to hear your thoughts, and i can be fully satisfied with this theory c:
that would make no sense never has there been a symbolic hallucination in Batman (or anything really) without a hallucinogen. Unless those crooks were completely insane, there is simply no way they saw that without some forms of drugs.
Mr Caboose, I believe I have a better explanation of the ending to Arkham Knight. And I noticed this after seeing the ending a second time. Gotham is safe, Batman is 'dead', and Jim is Mayor so basically, happy ever after. But as you pointed out, the family is suspiciously like Bruce's family on the night of Martha, and Thomas Wayne's death, well I believe they did that for a reason. In the ending's I saw, the names of the thugs were 'Two Face Thugs', look it up, I'm certain. One thing any supervillain thug likes to talk about in the Arkham games is how they came toe to toe with the Bat, and got their asses kicked so I believe these thugs also met the Bat and know how bad he is. Another thing I also like to mention is how Batman said to Catwoman after rescuing her AFTER the main campaign "This city needs a myth stronger than the Batman himself." And I believe those words play a part in this. So what am I saying? I'm saying, that whole thing, was showing the effect of what the Batman had on rime, long after his death. Everyone knows Bruce is Batman, and everyone knows his parents died while he was a kid so I think everyone knew why he did it. I believe those thugs stopped, and saw this 'Nightmare Batman' because I think they knew if they kill the parents in front of the child, the Batman would rise again, "making a myth stronger than the Batman himself" That also goes with the whole theme of Arkham Knight, by the end, FEAR will consume even the scariest of people. But that's my theory anyway, I don't know if anybody else commented that, but I just wanted to throw my theory in the ring.
SO There have been many rumours that Rocksteady are making a Damian Wayne game, set after the events of Arkham Knight. I think Damian could be the next vigilante legend, a myth stronger than Batman. Think about it; his mother, Talia Al Ghul, died at the hands of Joker and Clayface, two mass criminals. Also, the legend of Batman died when Scarecrow unmasked him, and in the eye of the public Bruce was murdered in the explosion, Gordon said so. If Talia gave birth to Damian before the events of Arkham City, but "after that night in Metropolis", that means Damian was probably raised by the League of Assassins since Talia died and Bruce probably doesn't even know about him. So, raised by the League, Damian has probably been trained to physical and mental perfection like how Batman was trained by Ra's or like how Talons are trained by the Court of Owls. So he'd take up his father's legacy, becoming a bigger legend than Batman. Plus, he has the motivation and will like Bruce did, because his parents died due to criminals (so he thinks), and he probably doesn't have a problem with killing people either. Like Gordon said, criminals need something to be afraid of or else there's just chaos again. Whether this is Fear Toxin, Azrael, Knightmare Batman or Damian Wayne, as fans we can only speculate for now
Mark Meow, not really, you see, he had a dark side before any of this game. You see, in Batman arkham origins, Joker had the exact same nightmare of dat dark, devilish batman, so I think on certain nights, he doesn't know what he's doing, and his inner demon comes out in a form of "Sleep Parylasis", except he can move.
+Rasmus Tarkiainen the fact that AF Alfred asked Bruce if "he was sure he wanted to do this" before the explosion is a dead give away that it was staged
It just seems like it's against his morals. Though I think I remember him having used something like it in The Dark Knight Returns now that I think of it.
In past arkham game he used a non-lethal ice grenade originated from Mr. Freeze and in Origins he would use Death strokes claw thing. So I think it's not impossible he would modify Crane's Toxin into a non-lethal version given the circumstances.
I 100% the game on hard difficulty. But I really feel like we need another Arkham game. This honestly wasn't the Ultimate Batman experience. We still never got to go in the real Batcave, we never got to fly around in the batwing for awhile. We never had Robin, Batman, and Nightwing fighting a large group of thugs at the same time. We never had proper boss fights that prove batman's fighting skills, not vehicle/stealth skills. Not to mention, I feel like the villains should've played a higher role than what they did. I felt like Riddler was the second main villain in the game. There's just so much that could've been done to make this game even better. It's still an awesome game though.
try hard fan You think that? Wow. I agree that a few things weren't 100% fine but I really hope there is no other Arkham game coming in the next years. And I am a HUGE ARKHAM FAN. I think that this ending was perfect.
I saw the Deathstroke boss fight and I have to say that I was pretty disappointed given their history... Rocksteady even gave Pyg a better boss fight than my man Slade! Tf!!!
try hard fan I agree with everything you said, except another Arkham game....I consider Arkham Knight to be very loosely based off Under The Red Hood and A Death in The Family. There was a fight scene in Under The Red Hood between Jason and Batman that was just bad ass. But we got nothing of the sort in Arkham Knight..No final fight..Nothing. At least, not hand to hand..
A line that MIGHT also indicate the theory presented in this video, is the line of Copplepot, when delivering him to the GCPD. He says something like (paraphrased): "(said in spite and indignation) you're gonna have to find a new costume now that everyone knowns who you are. I know, how about a squirrel (laughs)". Where as to Batman responds: "You'll see". Now this could just be Batman referencing the Knightfall protocol itself or him being his ominous self. But it could also be him indicating the character change to the nightmare batman. Again, a bit far fetched. Just a thought.
+PriXas yes. There are a few references from Batman, that something is coming by the end of the night. People seem to forget what he says to Cat woman. Merely says that the batman ends tonight, 'Gotham needs someone else to protect her. something...worse' almost like he's talking about a monster Of some kind. And this pretty much fits it. I don't know how he uses the fear toxin to target specific people like that, or get the criminals to see him in the way he wants to be perceived. But it seems like that he becomes 'knightmare batman'
Riddler should be optional for this ending. I did everything except this riddle shit they put in every game and I shouldn't be forced to watch the end cinematic on youtube just because I don't want to farm for hours in a singleplayer game. The checkpoints and mines were tedious enought.
I think a monster was created from batmans ashes because after you defeat riddler with catwoman batman says that something needs to rise from the ashes of the batman something more powerful than I can be right now
Caboose, Batman didn't become "One with the fear toxin". The first dose made him face his worst fear: he became the Joker. You can hear thugs in the city even say that when he started laughing maniacly, it was just like Joker. Batman started seeing what the world would be like if Joker were in control. Then, when he is injected the second time, that's when Joker sees his fear: being forgotten. The reason why Joker saw HIS fear was because Joker had completely taken over Bruce's body and mind, then lost control once he started seeing his own fears. Batman didn't "consume" the toxin or "become one with it", the game makes this very very apparent.
This seems the most likely, that leaves it both open ended and closed. Joker's fear, being forgotten, but batman will always be remembered as shown through the fear of the criminals. Perhaps there need not be any fear toxin left, it's simply the fear that batman instilled throughout time. The myth without manifestation is now sufficient...Or they can expand on the amalgamation of good and evil that are now concentrated in this new incarnation. It's pretty clever; an ending and a beginning.
Completely finished the game. Kicking Riddler's ass was certainly worth finding all riddles. And your explanation of the ending makes so much sense dude. Now Bruce Wayne can truly be who he always was full time.
BiG WaDe Even though were a few things here and there I didn't like about it, overall it was a very great game. I actually made a review on it if you want me to tag you in it?
BiG WaDe Understandable. Not everyone like one thing. I personally enjoy the combat especially since I'm pretty good at it. And I love the stealth sections too, but I have no idea ho people can do all of the challenges on those in just 30 seconds or shorter.
Tissan Young take use of your gliding ability and when to do it be sure to dive. As well as the propelling option through your batmobile also if you upgrade your grappling gun to x5 you'll be the fastest bat around. It's all about timing. New game + ain't no joke tho lol.
It could be a feature that he adds to the beyond suit. It has a few features already that weren't in the original bat suit, like invisibility and flight. could be that it releases fear toxin in controlled bursts, perhaps using some kind of ultra violent light.
I really hope they make a game about the bat family. So you'd be able to play as Nightwing, Robin (maybe he'll even become Red Robin) and Red Hood investigating Batman's death, and eventually find out he's still active, but different.
Yeah they could do a game based off battle for the cowl where all the sidekicks try out as batman, where as Bruce wayne is going through time until he gets to present day again.
what about a dlc for Damien Wayne for a DLC that would be awesome cause of ra's al ghul no? I was just thinking about that but talia died so maybe no :(
If you want, you can check out this RUclipsr called PowerPyx. He did a guide consisting of multiple videos for every riddle in Gotham. It's what I did and it only took me a few hours.
My honest opinion, I think the reason there's a fiery batman at the ending is this. In the game, it's told several times over that the fear toxin has several long-term detrimental effects on the mind, causing psychosis and flashbacks, and knowing the thugs in Gotham never left, and they all were gassed by the cloud burst, and knowing they all were usually committing some form of crime when they got jumped by Batman, they experience severe psychotic episodes when they attempt to commit more crime. The way Batman puts it is this: "I am the embodiment of their fear; any time they are about to mug someone and then they think of me, that's their fear." So as they all feared batman, they were all gassed by fear toxin, and they all now experience hallucinations from having a crippling morbid fear of Batman any time they attempt crime.
But after batman saves catwoman from riddler he foreshadows nightmare batman showing he knew this would happen, plus people stopped fearing batman mostly after his unmasking and his "death"
I have 2 theories (Ya I know I’m late) 1. It’s Red Hood becoming the next Batman because he worked along side scarecrow so he knows how to use the fear gas 2. After Bruce/Batman died in the explosion at Wayne Manor he became a spirit of Justice literally now a ghost haunting Gotham
Just a little theory that I have. **Please read if interested** You may think that batman is still Alive and is right there after watching, but he is not. Previously the game, Alfred mentions to Bruce that scarecrows fear gas has long term effects. Im only paraphrasing but when scarecrows fear gas was unleashed to gotham only the thugs and criminals where effected. So speaking of this long term effect. This might be just the fear gas effected criminals of Gotham who now see images of Batman because it was there worst fear haunting them. Making them unable to kill and steal from other people from the fear of batman taking them down. Just a theory
it would not make any sense. it would not have any bearing on the story and why would they throw it into the story. it's just what I think. but good guess
I think the ending with batman on the rooftop isn't to be taken literally. The concept art saying "is it real?" reinforces my point. I think it's all just symbolism to show how batman has changed Gotham forever. That his symbol continues to leave fear into the hearts of criminals, and that is represented through fear toxin. And the family that is attacked is identical to Bruce Wayne's family because it symbolises that when Bruce's parents were killed, they're was no one there to protect them. But now, because of batman, there is something to prevent the same thing from ever happening again. And that was batman's goal from the start. To prevent what happened to him from ever happening to anyone else. And that means batman's ultimate goal, his mission, is complete. How can this be taken literally? How are you going to get an identical situation to what happened to Bruce and his parents in the real world? How would they look the same as Bruce and his parents in the real world? How would the mother have the same pearl necklace as Bruce's mother in the real world? Because it isn't meant to be taken literally. It is to show that batman has permanently affected the people of Gotham, and his symbol lives on through the people he affected. I think that's what the live action trailer before the games release was about. It was about ordinary people rising up against criminals, which they didn't do before batman. And now they do because of batman. I think that batman on the roof was to represent the father or some other citizen successfully stopping the criminals. Something Bruce's father failed to do. In conclusion, I think that the bat is to symbolise the everyday citizens that stand up to criminals because of what batman stood for and everything he did. This is also hinted at by Gordan when he calls criminals "superstitious". This would suggest that they see batman in the people that fight back against them, even if he is not physically there. It shows the impact he has had as batman. Even back in the Arkham Knight teaser trailer, during Thomas Wayne's speech, Thomas says "We have lived through dark days. And no doubt there will be more to come. But it is the good and great man who stand up for Gotham when others turn and run" And then at 2:50 it cuts to batman jumping out of the batmobile in something that looks very similar to 5:16 in this video. Even in death he is an unbreakable symbol, that the good and great men of Gotham can now use to help them overcome fear, as batman did against scarecrow. That's what this game is about. Batman shows the world that anyone can overcome fear, and he lead in example against the one villain that can give anyone fear. I think I've cracked it. I think I figured it out.
***** I was gonna write a similar comment, but you summed up pretty much everything I wanted to say, including the emphasis on Gordon's "Criminals are a cowardly and superstitious lot" (he says it twice!) The only thing that I would add is that one reason why I don't think it's fear toxin is because there's no coughing throughout the cinematic. Rocksteady is known for the attention to detail. Every time fear toxin is used in Asylum or Knight, someone coughs (the glitch screen in Asylum, the man one booth over in the Diner, while carrying the canisters in Ace Chemicals, etc.). Also, I'd never see Batman (or Bruce Wayne for that matter) use fear toxin. He can instill fear in criminals pretty easily without it.
Basstones yeah he's a pretty big guy. And the fact that somehow he can hold a whole human being in the air with just one arm without any sign of a struggle, would scare the living shit out of me! It'd just be a bat shaped turd the size of a cow hit the pavement.
***** Totally agreed, i mean come on, if this video speaks the truth, then Scarecrow would be laughing his as* off,he went through hell just to get his toxin spread, but now Wayne has done it for him....and seriously, you can't just TAKE stuff out of your blood system.(Tony Stark saying: trust me, i know.)
I think it's still Bruce because of how the ending scene is presented. It's a kid in an alley with his parents and they are about to be attacked by thugs. The family leaving a movie, the pearl necklace being ripped from the neck, the criminals pulling guns on the parents, the child screaming in fear...every bit of that scene screams "Bruce Wayne". If that isn't Bruce saving that child from the life of pain that he endured then it should be. Perhaps that was even Bruce saving a young Terry McGinnis, foreshadowing events to come.
cluper93 It can't be Terry because this game takes place in the present and Batman Beyond is in the 2070's and Terry is a teenager, so if this kid was Terry he would be old by then.
I'm not buying it from Rocksteady that this is their final Batman game because when you listen to interviews they say "This is the final game in the Arkham Trilogy" or "This is our last Arkham game" I'm getting the funny feeling that this isn't the last hoorah from Rocksteady And the state which Gotham is left in at the end of Arkham Knight >Jason Todd as Red Hood killing off the criminal element in Gotham >This new "Nightmare Batman" >Tim Drake still as Robin It's curious to see how they can make one final game out of all these plot threads plus the popular way of making a series with a Trilogy as the base >Prequel>Trilogy>Epilogue We can only hope guys. We can only hope.
No need to be a dick dude Plus after the mess that was Arkham Origins do you think WB won't pull people who made Arkham Knight to work on another Batman game? Yeah right.
Has everyone just forgot that Batman has a yellow lantern ring? Ya' know, the yellow lantern corp? The lantern corp that uses fear as a weapon? Nobody? Ok.
he did but couldn't use the ring as,he,has to much hope in him also the reason why he couldn't use the green lantern ring as he has to much fear in him plus he would have the yellow Corp logo on him and not the batman logo if he was using it
Hiddos There is actually a really good movie that follows it faithfully. Imagine 60 year old Batman having to reign crime in Gotham in a nuclear winter, with even an epic fight with Superman included (which inspired the idea for the Batman vs Superman movie). Its has a lot of really good plot elements and insights into characters like Two Face and Joker, its on par with Arkham Asylum: A serious house on serious earth, Watchmen and V for Vendetta. I really can't do it enough justice in one post, I suggest you pick up either one, you won't be disappointed =)
Yes I completed the game 100% and activated the full knightfall protocol and I think Batman knew that if he lives in front of bad guys .they will again terrorise the city. So he created his own new myth to scare the villains of the city in order to keep the city safe.He used the new concept of fear which is really interesting as he stated before that Gotham wants something more,a legend.
Okay, BATMAN was supposed to be a LEGEND that a strong PRESENCE stood up to the villains of GOTHAM. This was supposed to give PEOPLE the idea that they are able to STAND UP to EVIL, but INSTEAD batman became one MAN eho defended the people. The explosion and the later RETURN of the batman was a symbol for the fact that BATMAN IS AN UNDYING FORCE OF GOOD. If you still don't get it, batman can be anyone, all it truly takes is bravery and inner strength.
Super Brian Bellos NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WRONG, DEAD WRONG TO BE EXACT THERE IS ONLY ONE BATMAN JUST ONE. LISTEN TO ME, THAT"S NOT POSSIBLE no no no no.......NO!! i'm sorry i LOVE!!!! batman so much i teard up at the end at the end
This is my opinion and what I think what happened (I am only typing this is because most theories I have seen either say that AzraeI is the new Batman we see in the end or he is not). I think everything from the "Wealthy family walking out of theater" to end, is in Crane's head. For starters when Bruce injects Crane with his fear toxin, for a split second you see the exact same Batman that haunted the 2 muggers in the end. Which takes me to the mugging scene, you're probably saying "But Pepsiman, how does Crane know that Bruce was mugged as a child?" and that's simple. Everybody knows what happened Bruce as a child, if you go out into the street and randomly pick on thugs after you beat the game. The thugs make a shit ton of comments, about Bruce and his parents (including things about the mugging). Though since Crane doesn't know how the mugging went down, this is the way imagined it, that is also why the mugging we see in the end isn't exactly the same as what happened to Bruce. Hence the fact that there are 2 muggers, instead of Thomas getting shot he gets hit with the pistol (but somehow still manages to fall in the same position you see when the GCPD makes a chalk outline), Martha "survives," and for some reason you can't see the kid's (who is presumed to be Bruce) face clearly in any part of the mugging (Perhaps to hide the fact the Bruce is no longer afraid? Maybe.) Than we see the exact same Batman we saw in Crane's head earlier, and it's show that although Bruce may be presumed dead, but *The Legend of The Batman Lives On* (Therefore someone or something out there will rise to become *The new savior, the new guardian, the new Batman* (No matter who it may be Dick, Jason, Azrael, or even Damien) But it is at this point that Crane is not afraid of who is Batman but what Batman has become. Oh and also this correlates with what Caboose said about the concept art of Nightmare Batman and the fact that this takes place in Crane's head (Though it is unclear if does) than we as the audience don't know if the Batman we saw was "real."
That actually makes a lot of sense. Crane never knew what batmans childhood was like but he knew that he lost his father and mother. So to get vengeance he became batman. He chose not to kill people with his new found abilities but to subdue them or make them unconscious. Now that scarecrows own fears develop in his mind he makes up this story on batman and how he could live but doesn't completely live as batman. He is nightmare batman.
Pepsiman well heres one thing, if you have the captions on it shows in the dialogue that those thugs where two faces. At that time two face wasn't even two face yet, hence it being something like deja vu of some sort but the dialogue makes it confusing.
fakefiji I know, but again this is Crane's interpretation. Maybe the fact that Two-face is standing near Crane (and crane knows that Harvey has something of an army going around collecting money from banks). Maybe Crane just put two and two together and just used Two Faces' thugs since they were stealing money that night and because, well they are thugs. But again this all speculation, this ending was purposely made not to make sense or to throw off players.
Pepsiman I have only one question. Why is Jim Gordon the new Mayor of Gotham CIty in Crane's head? You can see the election poster of him when the three are walking out of the cinema.
Camfam100, Really? I'd probally sh*t my pants with some of it running down my leg while I'm running away screaming "Get the f*ck away from me you f*cking wore!"
It's called Knightfall protocol. In the actual comic series called Knightfall Azreal takes up the mantle of Batman when Bruce gets hurt. Plus his side mission is called heir to the cowl plus he wants to be Batman. Azrael is certainly hinted at for being the new Batman
But at the end of the side quest you either choose to kill bats or leave and hunt down the Order to take revenge (by you I mean Azrael). So no, there's no point in referencing that comic.
I loved this ending. It does what Mass Effect 3 tried and failed to do; create an ambiguous ending that is open to interpretation BUT is a satisfying conclusion at the same time.
The amount of people not understanding the ending astonishes me. It's not hard to comprehend, identity revealed puts him and his friends in danger, some criminals believed he wasn't human and most were scared of him. Now that they know who he is that all changes, so he "dies" and becomes a myth once again...THE BATMAN'S GHOST.
If u listened to the conversation between Batman and Catwoman after the Riddler boss fight, he tells her that he needs something more than just the batman. Also, he said that 'Out of the ashes of the Batman will come a new myth'. But Dang, I want that costume tho.
Another thing at the end, the thugs said 'That look don't scare us no more'. People will overcome the fear eventually, it was decaying throughout the night. Now he probably needs to give them something else to be scared of.
Guys why do you want a sequel to Arkham Knight? I think just having 1 DLC about post arkham knight batman is fine. I want to see a story in between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum, there is so much to be told! We can see rise of Robin, Dent downfall to Two Face, Court of Owls, more of awesome scary Bane and so much more. I really hope WB Montreal takes up the Batman developer mantle. Imagine a game with Asylum, Origins and Knight map all together were you use the old Batmobile and the Batwing, with access to Wayne Manor and Batcave
The spare two gadgets for batman are found around the map, the REC is found in the evidence room of the GCPD, you can break the glass and take it, and the Freeze grenades are in the Movie Studio, to the far left when you walk in there should be a small table with a grenade, the table should be need the contamination cells. But for all the other characters... There is a ton of gadgets missing off the wheel.
I though that the Fear Toxin Scarecrow unleashed on the city gave all the thugs long term psychological effects. So every time they commit a crime their afraid that Batman will stop them.
tommytomtom44ify Have you played through the game? That part at Ace Chemicals is just at the beginning, later Scarecrow and Arkham Knight unleashed the fear gas over all of Gotham and Ivy has to use her plants to stop it. All the criminals rioting in the city are exposed to the gas.
Legion Normandy Talia mentioned a night she spent with Bruce in Metropolis, so there's a possibility that he's alive, and if that's the case then he would've spent his whole life with the League of Assassins
i know what you're saying, but it just doesn't make sense to go back to batman square one, with no allies, no connections, and just the idea of fear in the criminals mind. we already saw that in every iteration of its origin, if batman wants to have any real effect on gotham, it needs to work with gotham itself. he needs to help and be supported by the GCPD so they don't think of him as a criminal, he needs to leverage his side as bruce wayne to change gotham from within, and it needs a family to keep him grounded. rogue batman will breed new villains with the only purpose of finding him and killing him. and that would lead him to the same path where he befriends gordong, the gcpd, and is surrounded by other knights. the finale as you are describing it it's 'cool', but it doesn't make any sense. also you can't act dead but then show up dressed as your alter ego when everyone knows who you are. that scene is metaphor (and a mistake, in my opinion) and if you really wanna put it in perspective, it makes more sense that someone else picked up the mantle and is using the fear toxin to scare criminals even more, now that they all believe the batman is dead. it doesn't have to be 10 minutes after the ending you know, it doesn't need to line up exactly. it's a narrative choice, but it doesn't cancel all we've seen in the previous 4 games. going back to being 'ghost' batman when you have like 10 people who directly know you and depended on you, plus a city suffering from the consequences of your rogue action, is just nonsense.
what makes batman , movies , comics and specially the latest game the Arkham Knight and what makes the joker biggest match for batman is as commissioner Gorden says in his last lines in the arkham knight game : "the criminals are cowardly and superstitious lot ,that the only way to beat them was to give them something to be scared of" . even scare crow was afraid , and all the others were afraid , but only one man wasnt , and it was the joker !! Batman is not a game , nor a movie , not even a hero came from comics , he is the reality of each one of us life , and joker is the things we are afraid of that can destroy us !!
UNDERTAKERTHEPHENOM thanks man ! now i know why many people love comics and games more than movies !! that feeling when you start to get it what is batman , what he stands for and what he means will change your life !! thats why batman is the most populer one between the others ! because the people who made him were wise people and understood what is life
true. Well thought out conclusion indeed. Batman is all about sacrificing to keep his loved ones safe at an cost. Video games rarely get me emotional but ending of the game where bruce says to Jim "its done Gotham is safe" and takes a one last look at his city was just heart warming and sad at the same time.
I believe batman used his own version of the fear toxin ( a little less stronger than the one scare crow used). In the beginning of the game when you first get to drive the bat mobile you crash an enemy car and interrogate the driver taking a sample of the new fear toxin that scare crow was using. He sent the data to oracle and kept it on him ever since. I think batman took the opportunity to make his own fear toxin hense the reason towards the end when batman jumps towards the criminals, batman and the background it self get the whole fear toxin effect where it's all red and orange kind of. He's probably using it to have everyone think that even though everyone saw and heard of the batman a death, there would still be something to fear. I don't know. I'm just as confused. Thought I'd give it a shot.
Varcyn Wright Terry McGuiness is a clone, but not like an actual clone of Bruce Wayne. it has do something with sperm and DNA of Bruce i think. And in Harley Quin's Revenge there were a lot of hints towards a cloning facility, So yeah it's possible. But not likely
Varcyn Wright Well, that would be nice but if that scene is right after Arkham Knight ends then it can't be him because I think the arkham games take place in the present, but Terry is Batman in the 2070's as a teenager, so if this kid is Terry then he would be way old by the 2070's.
Varcyn Wright I don't think so but I would love if Rocksteady went ahead and did Batman Beyond games with their style of dark and gritty it'd look awesome
Based on all the new DLC leaks as found by certain individuals and from what we learn about the Arkhamverse after Arkham City from in game City Stories we can offically place Season of Infamy, Batman's DLC storyline AFTER Arkham Knight. During this playthrough we will be the "new" Batman but won't learn who it is until the end. This "new" one will speak with a voice modifier and won't be revealed until the end, where Gordon and his closest allies will learn that it is Bruce under the mask. With an idea to return to public, Bruce and Alfred return, but this time with new identities. Bruce will return as Thomas Kane(Thomas from his Father, Kane being his mother's maiden name), the lost half brother of Bruce Wayne and Alfred will return but with a new identity as well. Both will sport new looks to hide there identities. Under this new name Bruce will become the Police Commissioner and after revealing who he really is to the GCPD, the GCPD will receive the best possible training from Batman; whom is now running the GCPD under a new name and on the side portray Batman when needed.
I don't know but ppl found data for Ra's Al Ghul and several others in the game files. City Stories say Ghul remained dead after City and is dead during Knight. Based solely on that it would suggest that Ghul returns for Season of Infamy and would have to take place After Knight due to him being dead and Rocksteady already confirming that a group of villains would be invading Gotham, with the implication being the invasion would happen after Arkham Knight. The Ending was simply my guess for how Season of Infamy will end, with Bruce coming back and taking control of the GCPD, something that has happened in the past with other universes.
I agree because when you defeat the riddler and Batman says his goodbye to Catwoman, he explains that Gotham needs a new legend and a new myth, if this theory isn’t on point, I don’t know what is
Isn't that batman at the end the same one as the one showed in the cutscenes where it shows us what scarecrow is scared of? Because in that cutscene, it isn't the normal batman which appears, it's that same, red-eyed batman with a black bat symbol on its chest.
+santi ramires Iike he said Batman is using fear toxin to make his enemies to he is a ghost or deamon, the only thing scarier than Batman is zombie Batman.
Here's my theory: Nightmare Batman is Terry McGuiness. If you've seen the classic Batman Beyond cartoon, you'd see that a running theme in the entire story is the battle between Terry and his desire to reinvent the mythos of Batman in his generation. In Arkham Knight, Bruce tells Selina that Gotham needs something else, someone else. Rocksteady introduced the Batman Beyond suit in the game, but unlike the previous versions in different games, this version was different. It seemed to follow the aesthetic design behind the other main game suits, like the Arkham Knight suit and Batman's new suit. In past games, the Batman Beyond suit was a direct copy from the comics and animated show. So why was this time different? Well, because Rocksteady wanted the suit to fit in with universe they created. From what we see in the ending, a bit of time has passed as Gordon is already Mayor and Tim and Barbara are already at a wedding. That gives the game at LEAST a 1 year gap from the supposed "Death" of Bruce Wayne. I think Bruce isn't dead, obviously, and has spent some time perfecting the next generation bat suit in secret, as well as the next generation Batman. As the time of this comment, there has been rumors for a game called Arkham Legacy. This just expands my theory, as the next game could be telling the story on how Bruce found Terry, and how he would become the new Batman. In the final scene with the fear induced Nightmare Batman, we can see that the logo is burning red, his eyes are burning red and the cape acts more like wings rather than a regular cape. In the redesign Beyond suit, it has wings as well, and the logo and eyes match up. Terry could be using a re-engineered version of Scarecrows toxin as a gas grenade to enhance his attacks.
I dont think bruce died at all because come on alfred was in the building with bruce and knowing bruce wayne and how smart he is Im pretth sure he found a way to disapear.
The best explanation I've heard so far. I really just wanted the aftermath-cutscene to continue, perhaps so we could see what had become of Jason Todd/Red Hood. And what's with the ring? Who is Barbara Gordon getting married to?
LALFAST Jason went on and became the vigilante red hood by taking down crime enterprises including black mask as we see in the red hood dlc (yes it did take place after the game) and Barbara was engaged to Tim Drake. Gordon became mayor as we can see in a poster and because they mentioned it in the arkham knight comics. In the end Gordon was probably heading towards Tim wedding with Barbara.
I liked the image of Nightmare Batman. This creature is like a supernatural vampiric entity that was born in Batman "died". I can imagine this creature rising from the smoldering remains of Wayne Manor! It spreads it's wings for the first time and flies off, in search of guilty victims!
I know it is a bit of a crackpot theory. But think about it. What could be worse and more powerful than a supernatural vampiric entity that is similar to Batman, but much scarier like every criminal's worst nightmare came true after Batman was "dead"? A Nightmare Batman! The wind from its wingspan hits like an explosion. A fiery aura surrounding the creature's body with broken shackles hanging, sharpened claws, mini-bats that flies out from under his wings to stagger it's guilty pray. And as it lunges forward to the screen, it's blood red eyes and bat symbol glows fire. And it lands on those two thugs. It's teeth and fangs as strong and as long as Dracula sinks into their necks. It drinks and feeds off of the blood and fear of the guilty, while the innocent are spared from the horror that targets the guilty alone!
I think he's been turned into a vampire by Count Dracula (like the comic strip Batman and Dracula: Red Rain). How does Bruce meet the king of vampires? After faking his death, Bruce lays low until Gotham is safe again. During that time, he encounters Dracula and gets bitten, but he still retains his free will. It ends with Dracula getting killed, but Bruce can be Batman forever and make people think he's dead. If that doesn't seem like a better story for this series, please speak what you think would be better.
Bet Rocksteady had their reasons, for it to be a mystery everyone cared about they had to choose someone the fans cared about, if they just pulled off a name outta nowhere, the reveal would not be dramatic at all, and there would be no reason to argue and make it a common topic before the release of the game, my point is, it's better they gave AK's persona a familiar face from the COMICS and new to the arkham verse, other than some random commando geurrilla dude
yea I know right well during the game oracle says "it sounds like you two have a lot of history." well yea many criminals you know a batman thing they could've brought a new character from sketch but yea the dramatic would not be like "OMG IT WAS JASON TODD!!! the whole time" the reaction would be not like that in anyway. Cause 1: new character means new game for arkham franchise and 2 what type would he be a super villain, a mobster or just an new organization for batman like the riddler and the Jason Todd in a way super smart and athletic and mix martial arts specialist with weapons specialist which I think would be bad ass but yea the game was really cool I like very much but they could of done better personally
Yea I see what you mean it's not like they didn't do a good job revealing him but I hoped it would be something like that animated Batman movie mask of the phantasm. That's a good example of how to make a new character
It was origanally a new character But they changed it so origins and assualt on arkham could be cannon in the origanal Script arkham knight was a younger clone of bruce created by cadmus and amanda waller to be the perfect solider and take down Batman his personailty was a younger more cocky bruce with Elements of damian it sounded really cool to Bad it never happened this is also Why game got delayed So much
"Alfred, if I'm going down, you're going down with me."

"Too late." *explosion*
Surprised no one had commented in this because You are literally everywhere.

Same I really love these games
They said that game was there final but I'm hoping for a batman beyond game
They should make a superman game with the arkham game feeling. That would be amazing
There were many Superman Easter eggs so they might be planning a superman game
Dark Archer superman would be a really hard game to make

Gotham believes that Batman & Bruce Wayne are dead.
Bruce is still alive & uses the fear toxin as a new way to scare criminals & keep Gotham safe as "Nightmare Batman".
Exactly
What happened to Jason though because he shot the gun scarecrow was holding to Bruce's head?
Vykk. Thx man
Bruce is dead that way he has no identity and he can go full bat
@Sammy Valvoskí captures?? He definitely killed his ass
how do all the arkham games all happen in one night!!!
Or like how does one man find 243 riddler trophies hidden away across an entire city in one night.
+Gage Because hes BATMAN

For us it's hours and hours and hours of gameplay. For Batman ... it's just a night. ;D

+Pj Foley It's really not that hard once you find the ice grenade inside the studios you can through most of the puzzels.
+Pj Foley I've done it. Most of them are easier to get than in the other Arkham games to be fair.
Grim Knight Legolou12 By there was now way I was gonna do it, I meant that I was not gonna be bothered my arse to do it :/ I probably would have solved them all but I borrowed it from a friend and was just as content to just watch the full ending on RUclips
Pj Foley
Okay fair enough.
Gotcha.
Once you defeat Riddler, Bruce kind of gives away what he needs to do to Selina. He claims he needs to become a myth, something greater from the ashes of the Batman
***** yup
AlphaMunky so bruce is alive
actionvids35 Yep :P
AlphaMunky yeah I like to think so it be very stupid for him to kill himself and alfred he is the new batman with the hole world thinking Bruce is dead he no longer needs to pretend and become batman full time
actionvids35 I understand what you are saying but it made sense for why he's pretending he is dead. It's because if he came out, his friends would easily be in danger because they all know Bruce Wayne. With him covering it up, he wouldn't be putting his loved ones in danger. (Nightwing, Robin, Arkham Knight (Jason Todd), and others.
How funny would it be if it was actually just Manbat scarring the shit out of people

CabooseXBL Didn't like the protocol knightfall ending and why rockskedy would wanna destroy the Bruce wayne identiy that was revealed by Scarecrow it could have end it better my personl opinion but Just one question now that bruce wayne/batman became a myth after his presuming death does Alfred, Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Tim Drake wayne/Robin, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, James Gordon and possible member JLA Clark kent/Superman knows he still alive as Batman only especially Alfred, Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Fox since he is the one who provide batman gatgets sometimes...let me know your personal thought.. thank you
aka1138gmail keep in mind there is still no explanation as to how batman survived jokers posthumous trap at the asylum
Its hell bat
The guy at the end is Batman. Instead of being 50% Bruce and 50% Batman, he became 100% Batman. He "killed off" Bruce so he becomes Batman 100%
JaegerBomb1892 EXACTLY!!! That was the whole point of this extended ending. If people think Bruce is dead they no longer question who the batman is. He's not human, he's legacy!
JaegerBomb1892 maybe bruce has been working on that man-bat formula and the fear toxin. Sounds crazy! lol
JaegerBomb1892 bruce completely becomes batman

Joe James I would say a jay Garrick game set in the 50s would be cool.
It took me 6 days to platinum the game you want to know how I did it? It's because Im batman!!!!!!
Wouldn't it make more sense if Jason Todd is the new Batman? He carries the title of the game, he turned good in the end, he worked with Scarecrow so he probably got some fear toxin and would use it against thugs.
Sigurd Torvaldsson he turned out to be the red hood
3000+ Likes?!?! I'm blown away by the response.
Thanks for the truth bro thanks you so much . I know what happened you gave us proof ,pictures, and evidence for your answer 10/10 perfect!
Was it just me or did the Batman that appeared during the end fight with Joker looked like Batman Beyond?
CabooseXBL you should be blown away because you did a heck of an explanation and we all should be thankful to ma man thank you
Look at the picture where he is attacking them look at his cowl it is just a mask like robins
CabooseXBL i did not played the game or will, i have seen all of it in youtube video and i got three ideas:
first: if that fire bat was in the story which means that someone took batman's place, and he save those people from those criminals.
second: if that was what had bruce saw in his mind, then it becomes clear that bruce went to his past and overcome it by becoming the fear of those criminals. and now he is fearless before dying ( if he really did ).
third: return of bruce wain ( the batman ) after escaping from his house and changing his suit to a destructive point and you can see that he is a different person. so no one can say that he is bruce wain ( the one that try to keep gothem going and not destroying it ).
Great game but the Riddler sidemissions are just stupid.
Nah is best part actually.

Jared Norstrem seriously! one of maybe 2 or 3 lol. if that.

So it turns out Batman is alive, and he did not really die.
it’s almost like the video said that exact same thing 😯

But scarecrow never realeased it....tf
If that's the case then wouldn't the city be in chaos because everyone would be tripping balls
yeah I think that too but I think its batman beyond that's the new batman but since have the fear toxin in them it makes batman beyond hell of a lot scarier but that's just because of the suit I'm not putting lore into it or anything
+Tristen Benavidez wtf?
so just like that man they never really got the fear toxin out of them
I also personally feel that Bruce is still strapping on the cape and cowl, but he's playing a very different game this time (Essentially the same ideas Caboose-XBL is pushing).
So permit me the indulgence of putting on a show."
Knightfall is Batman theatrics, a grand show, of the highest order. Faking the death of the man everyone knows is Batman, only to return again some time later as an apparently supernatural entity.
wow you really nailed it
Absolutely beautiful.
Using your theory as my headcanon. If this turns out to be true, you are to be thanked.
(which is basically what you are saying, but re-iterated and interpreted by me)
ISchulz Rocksteady: You're hired
I think the ending was symbolical and had nothing to do with the fear toxin.
nope
yes! That was what o was thinking
that would make no sense never has there been a symbolic hallucination in Batman (or anything really) without a hallucinogen. Unless those crooks were completely insane, there is simply no way they saw that without some forms of drugs.
Yes it does he was injected with it duh
Yea I think it was like Batman will always be a symbol, not a man, or a kind of V for Vendetta thing, like, I'm not a man, I'm an idea.
SO Yeah, I had a similar thought. I like your theory a lot
Whether this is Fear Toxin, Azrael, Knightmare Batman or Damian Wayne, as fans we can only speculate for now
Kyle Walters That's a pretty cool theory!
Haha not everyone knows batman is bruce wayne, what about the riddler who says it isnt bruce
Eh
He becomes hell spawn?
of course
Mark Meow, not really, you see, he had a dark side before any of this game. You see, in Batman arkham origins, Joker had the exact same nightmare of dat dark, devilish batman, so I think on certain nights, he doesn't know what he's doing, and his inner demon comes out in a form of "Sleep Parylasis", except he can move.
CC Elite
What?
CC Elite what the hell are you on.
Mark Meow no! Fear toxin dumbass
I don't think b wayne died why would he commit suicide and also take alfred with him?
This is exactly the question he wouldn't kill Alfred
+Rasmus Tarkiainen the fact that AF
Alfred asked Bruce if "he was sure he wanted to do this" before the explosion is a dead give away that it was staged
+Alonzo Mcintyre alfred
So his enemies would think he's dead so they dont go after his loved ones.
But what about Tim and Barbra and dick and Gordon
I have a hard time believing that Batman would ever use fear toxin.
Batman gives fear to his enemies and the fear toxin helps him to do exactly that
Simple
It just seems like it's against his morals. Though I think I remember him having used something like it in The Dark Knight Returns now that I think of it.
+Zen Brown then there's ur answer lol
In past arkham game he used a non-lethal ice grenade originated from Mr. Freeze and in Origins he would use Death strokes claw thing. So I think it's not impossible he would modify Crane's Toxin into a non-lethal version given the circumstances.
Yes I guess so. Especially considering he now needs to keep criminals from noticing Wayne's pretentious fist of justice.

Guilherme Bittencourt Maybe future DLC could make it better. DLC or patches. But it would take a lot.
Shadow gotta get a grip
A line that MIGHT also indicate the theory presented in this video, is the line of Copplepot, when delivering him to the GCPD. He says something like (paraphrased): "(said in spite and indignation) you're gonna have to find a new costume now that everyone knowns who you are. I know, how about a squirrel (laughs)". Where as to Batman responds: "You'll see".
Now this could just be Batman referencing the Knightfall protocol itself or him being his ominous self. But it could also be him indicating the character change to the nightmare batman. Again, a bit far fetched. Just a thought.
Brilliant! :)
5:50 “Batman's become a New Myth,

I think a monster was created from batmans ashes because after you defeat riddler with catwoman batman says that something needs to rise from the ashes of the batman something more powerful than I can be right now
Lol, beat the game three times
Truth.
Yeah lol
thank you
Thanks i never really completely understood the ending but this helps
This seems the most likely, that leaves it both open ended and closed. Joker's fear, being forgotten, but batman will always be remembered as shown through the fear of the criminals. Perhaps there need not be any fear toxin left, it's simply the fear that batman instilled throughout time. The myth without manifestation is now sufficient...Or they can expand on the amalgamation of good and evil that are now concentrated in this new incarnation. It's pretty clever; an ending and a beginning.
M. Chedderbeef I have no idea what you mean bro
Completely finished the game. Kicking Riddler's ass was certainly worth finding all riddles. And your explanation of the ending makes so much sense dude. Now Bruce Wayne can truly be who he always was full time.

BiG WaDe Is it hard for you? If it is that's understandable.
They could do something like GTA too so that when you're in free-roam you can switch between Dick, Tim and Jason.
Kako Rojo Take notes Rocksteady, these are great ideas to continue this story.
what about a dlc for Damien Wayne for a DLC that would be awesome cause of ra's al ghul no? I was just thinking about that but talia died so maybe no :(

It's what I did and it only took me a few hours.
+Auz Yo I watched him. He's tons of help
John Lynch oo come on man just scan for green thugs they help locate them
My honest opinion, I think the reason there's a fiery batman at the ending is this.
The way Batman puts it is this: "I am the embodiment of their fear; any time they are about to mug someone and then they think of me, that's their fear."
So as they all feared batman, they were all gassed by fear toxin, and they all now experience hallucinations from having a crippling morbid fear of Batman any time they attempt crime.
ThatTallWizard I really like that theory, I think it makes a lot of sense and it was also set up in the game's main story beforehand so it fits.
Wouldn’t that only work for generation of thugs and criminals
But after batman saves catwoman from riddler he foreshadows nightmare batman showing he knew this would happen, plus people stopped fearing batman mostly after his unmasking and his "death"
I have 2 theories (Ya I know I’m late)
1. It’s Red Hood becoming the next Batman because he worked along side scarecrow so he knows how to use the fear gas
2. After Bruce/Batman died in the explosion at Wayne Manor he became a spirit of Justice literally now a ghost haunting Gotham
Just a little theory that I have. **Please read if interested**
You may think that batman is still Alive and is right there after watching, but he is not.
Jack O'Rourke That is awesome theory so cool didn't even think of it good idea!!
Glad you think so.
That my friend is an awesome theory.
it would not make any sense. it would not have any bearing on the story and why would they throw it into the story. it's just what I think. but good guess
Plz response
***** but they specifically say "That look don't fear us no more"
Chris Smet yes, as in the physical form of batman doesn't scare them anymore, but the people who fight back.
OKAY DID BATMAN SAVE A KID TO STOP THE SAME THING THAT HAPPEN TO HIM (MIND)➡💥💥💥
That's the most legit explanation I've heard yet. Good job man.
I think it's Terry failing to utilize the rocket boots properly and blowing up half the roof :P
That'd be absolutely perfect. Can we get a Batman: Arkham Beyond? x'D
Or maybe a whole new trilogy called the "beyond series" instead of the "arkham series"
JK193765 how About a series called knightfall
Best one yet. I laughed so hard
Would've been awesome if Terry would've been at the end and an old Bruce says, "That was the night the Batman was reborn".
That's a brilliant theory
cluper93 It can't be Terry because this game takes place in the present and Batman Beyond is in the 2070's and Terry is a teenager, so if this kid was Terry he would be old by then.
Batman beyond takes place in 2040 (TV show. I don't know about the spin off comics)
8 years later and I just finished for the second time
I'm not buying it from Rocksteady that this is their final Batman game because when you listen to interviews they say "This is the final game in the Arkham Trilogy" or "This is our last Arkham game"
I'm getting the funny feeling that this isn't the last hoorah from Rocksteady
And the state which Gotham is left in at the end of Arkham Knight
>Jason Todd as Red Hood killing off the criminal element in Gotham
>This new "Nightmare Batman"
>Tim Drake still as Robin
It's curious to see how they can make one final game out of all these plot threads plus the popular way of making a series with a Trilogy as the base

he did but couldn't use the ring as,he,has to much hope in him also the reason why he couldn't use the green lantern ring as he has to much fear in him plus he would have the yellow Corp logo on him and not the batman logo if he was using it
+Daniel Maloney its will power not hope. Hope is blue i think.
+Daniel Maloney other than that you are correct
+will meredith He knows. But batman has too much hope inside him to use the yellow lantern ring.
Essentially, the ending is a tribute to the conclusion of The Dark Knight Returns
+KaiserAfini Yes same concept
KaiserAfini its the Dark Night RISES
Darian Worster I meant the 1986 comic by Frank Miller called The Dark Knight Returns.
+KaiserAfini Could you please elaborate? I'm unfamiliar with the comic.
*who not eho
Super Brian Bellos So basically "Becoming a symbol", as put in the dark knight movies.
Caspianm2 Exactly.
Super Brian Bellos NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WRONG, DEAD WRONG TO BE EXACT THERE IS ONLY ONE BATMAN JUST ONE. LISTEN TO ME, THAT"S NOT POSSIBLE no no no no.......NO!!
i'm sorry i LOVE!!!! batman so much
i teard up at the end at the end
Emmanuel Tavares "Spamming caps will make my opinion more relevant"
Pepsiman
Jesus is merciful, he will not let Damien be the New Batman. Hell no, not in this Universe.
Pepsiman I have only one question. Why is Jim Gordon the new Mayor of Gotham CIty in Crane's head? You can see the election poster of him when the three are walking out of the cinema.
do u know how scared I would be if batman was like that if he come up to me like ur safe. I'll be like LEAVE ME ALONE EVIL GUY
Camfam100, Really? I'd probally sh*t my pants with some of it running down my leg while I'm running away screaming "Get the f*ck away from me you f*cking wore!"
i shed a tear at the ending😢 Batman is my dude! he can't die just like that! 😭
I thought the ending was a symbolism of Bruce finally overcoming his fears and finding peace with his parents death. Thanks for this video.
It's called Knightfall protocol. In the actual comic series called Knightfall Azreal takes up the mantle of Batman when Bruce gets hurt. Plus his side mission is called heir to the cowl plus he wants to be Batman. Azrael is certainly hinted at for being the new Batman
No
Finally someone gets it!
But at the end of the side quest you either choose to kill bats or leave and hunt down the Order to take revenge (by you I mean Azrael). So no, there's no point in referencing that comic.
Different azreal
Vicks Vapor Drops Wave Yeah it was Jean Paul Valley in the comic and Michael Lane in the game.
I agree, I actually really liked Arkham Origins and I would love to see a continuation of that universe.
Origins wasn't part of the real story of the Arkam series
How so? It is referenced a lot of times is Arkham Knight, maybe even more than any other game!
Yup true! Like for a batman Arkham origins part 2
Alfonso Luna origins is definitely Canon
Wonder if the DLC will take place after Arkham knight and let u use the fear toxin as a gadget. That would be awesome
Think about it... it's a batgirl dlc, it's going to be a prequel not an epilogue.
Upcoming DLC:
Azrael: Gothams New Saviour
Joker: The Killing Joke
Arkham Knight: How It Became
There's still an open gadget slot of you look at the wheel.
JaegerBomb1892 Upcoming DLC:
Court of owls (Nightwing)
The myth (post Arkham knight)
Challenge map
This is how it happand... This is how the batman died.
I though that the Fear Toxin Scarecrow unleashed on the city gave all the thugs long term psychological effects. So every time they commit a crime their afraid that Batman will stop them.
You nusf blew my mind
Carlo Balmoria But they said that Batman is Dead. So they shouldnt be scared anymore right?
Khanh Tran Fear is not always rational.
Carlo Balmoria This would be the best reasoning i've heard, but unfortunately batman contained the blast near ace chemicals.
tommytomtom44ify Have you played through the game? That part at Ace Chemicals is just at the beginning, later Scarecrow and Arkham Knight unleashed the fear gas over all of Gotham and Ivy has to use her plants to stop it. All the criminals rioting in the city are exposed to the gas.
Hello i am from the future and there will be a game called arkham underworld.
Does trump, the mighty oompaloompa king get elected.
Oh shit it's dat future
+Speghatti Gaming Not yet it's August in the future.
who got elected trump or hillary
NoobGaming No one yet.
My idea for the next villain in the game. When Terry McGinnis becomes Batman, Damian Wayne will be head of the demon and will try to destroy Gotham.
Tissan Young But doesn't Damian come from Bruce and Talia? She died in Arkham City... Also not sure why Damian would be evil, either.
Legion Normandy Talia mentioned a night she spent with Bruce in Metropolis, so there's a possibility that he's alive, and if that's the case then he would've spent his whole life with the League of Assassins
Tissan Young Really? I didn't remember her saying that, but I guess in that case it may work.
Tissan Young ne....actually..doesnt make sense...McGinnis...no...and Damian has fight batman in Batman vs Robin 2015 movie
It can't happen because Terry isn't canon and Damien is.
i know what you're saying, but it just doesn't make sense to go back to batman square one, with no allies, no connections, and just the idea of fear in the criminals mind.
we already saw that in every iteration of its origin, if batman wants to have any real effect on gotham, it needs to work with gotham itself. he needs to help and be supported by the GCPD so they don't think of him as a criminal, he needs to leverage his side as bruce wayne to change gotham from within, and it needs a family to keep him grounded. rogue batman will breed new villains with the only purpose of finding him and killing him. and that would lead him to the same path where he befriends gordong, the gcpd, and is surrounded by other knights.
the finale as you are describing it it's 'cool', but it doesn't make any sense.
also you can't act dead but then show up dressed as your alter ego when everyone knows who you are. that scene is metaphor (and a mistake, in my opinion) and if you really wanna put it in perspective, it makes more sense that someone else picked up the mantle and is using the fear toxin to scare criminals even more, now that they all believe the batman is dead.
it doesn't have to be 10 minutes after the ending you know, it doesn't need to line up exactly.
it's a narrative choice, but it doesn't cancel all we've seen in the previous 4 games.
going back to being 'ghost' batman when you have like 10 people who directly know you and depended on you, plus a city suffering from the consequences of your rogue action, is just nonsense.
what makes batman , movies , comics and specially the latest game the Arkham Knight and what makes the joker biggest match for batman is as commissioner Gorden says in his last lines in the arkham knight game : "the criminals are cowardly and superstitious lot ,that the only way to beat them was to give them something to be scared of" . even scare crow was afraid , and all the others were afraid , but only one man wasnt , and it was the joker !! Batman is not a game , nor a movie , not even a hero came from comics , he is the reality of each one of us life , and joker is the things we are afraid of that can destroy us !!
Emprator Z wow.. thats deep bro
+Emprator Z Joker was afraid. He was afraid of being forgotten.
Ethan Barclay But joker was not afraid of anyone else... as in someone other than him being forgotten
Do you know why the batman didn't die? CUZ HE'S BATMAN!!
Infamous1498 I agree
Yes, that's make sense. I believe in that.
I like that Calendar Man was in the crowd at Wayne Manor.
Bruce Wayne wouldn't let Alfred die, I don't think. That should be enough in itself.
+Richard Ford He will not have to force him to choose. Alfred would join Bruce anywhere...
Anyone think the boy at the end was Terry McGuiness? (Sorry for spelling)
Varcyn Wright maybe i hope
Varcyn Wright Terry McGuiness is a clone, but not like an actual clone of Bruce Wayne. it has do something with sperm and DNA of Bruce i think. And in Harley Quin's Revenge there were a lot of hints towards a cloning facility, So yeah it's possible. But not likely
Varcyn Wright That'd be awesome
Tyrineal are you serious? is this true? sounds awesome
Tyrineal I cant tell whether you're being serious or not
I was laughing throughout reading that
Wow sounds deep, that would be pretty cool
He kills GCPD?
I agree because when you defeat the riddler and Batman says his goodbye to Catwoman, he explains that Gotham needs a new legend and a new myth, if this theory isn’t on point, I don’t know what is
As confusing as that ending was, it looked ridiculously awesome! A batman game where you play as this batman from hell with hellish powers? Yes please
OMG your right!!!
He's not using fear toxin, the criminals are already affected by the cloudburst
Hugo Ansbach
That dosen't make any sense. The fear toxin wears off, just like it for officer Owen and you know... ALL the criminals.
Who else got the Batsuit V8.05?
How do you get it??
after completing story
Don't you mean v8.04 like im missing the costume next to it and the wb forum reward costume.
Chrisma Ruiz I’m gunna get it soon now...just need to finish season of infamy in new game plus :D
Here's my theory:
Nightmare Batman is Terry McGuiness.
Probably used the elevator going to the batcave to disappear
WTF this explanatory is amazing... I no longer feel left out on what's happening after i beat the game!
Maybe Batman came back from the dead and he’s a “demon” who fights for what’s right.
I teared during the credits, the stillshots of Arkham asylum took me back
The best explanation I've heard so far.
I really just wanted the aftermath-cutscene to continue, perhaps so we could see what had become of Jason Todd/Red Hood.
And what's with the ring? Who is Barbara Gordon getting married to?
LALFAST tim drake hes the only bald robin in the game
LALFAST Jason went on and became the vigilante red hood by taking down crime enterprises including black mask as we see in the red hood dlc (yes it did take place after the game) and Barbara was engaged to Tim Drake. Gordon became mayor as we can see in a poster and because they mentioned it in the arkham knight comics. In the end Gordon was probably heading towards Tim wedding with Barbara.
Most likely Tim
Tim Drake. The text is from Tim and Gordon's wallpaper is a picture of Tim and Barbara.
even though it should be Grayson
According to the comics, Bruce is controlling and protecting Gotham from the underground...
What comic ? The Dark Knight Returns ?
The nightmare Batman is VERY similar to the Batman Beyond version of Batman. Just a thought.
It drinks and feeds off of the blood and fear of the guilty, while the innocent are spared from the horror that targets the guilty alone!
it seems like we totally forgot about bruce having joker blood and there's still no cure found
He locked joker away deep in his mind remember?
oh, was that represent him curing himself of the joker blood?
He overcame the joker so yeah kinda.
***** no he used the cure at the end of arkham city
***** He used the half of the cure in Arkham City. He was cured.
Dracula isn't real, and Bruce made a cure for vampirism.
+Zurvan Mooney Some peoples kids XD
Still disappointed of the arkham knight's true identity I hoped it was going to be be an actual new character.
It was origanally a new character But they changed it so origins and assualt on arkham could be cannon in the origanal Script arkham knight was a younger clone of bruce created by cadmus and amanda waller to be the perfect solider and take down Batman his personailty was a younger more cocky bruce with Elements of damian it sounded really cool to Bad it never happened this is also Why game got delayed So much
Trae weldon Daamn really?
Ngl this ending doesn't even matter no more considering how they treated this depiction of the character in SS...
surely its batman beyond
Lololololololol
Yeah it is he's so dumb lol😂😂😂😂😂
+Jovanka Martinez batman beyond is something totally different, idiot!
+Daniel Puskar batman beyond I'd batman from the future Daniel is right u three are fucking idiots
+BAE BAEX batman beyond is set in the future...Gotham didn't look like that in batman beyond...and Bruce Wayne is still alive in it..
