      Yes, the restaurants usually serve this deep fried, but its yummy steamed too 😀

    I’m wondering if it’s possible to deep fry the seafood tofu paste directly without steaming first. Maybe similar to making fried fish balls?

    Is there any substitute for prawns? I have very bad allergy with prawns TT^TT

      This recipe works well with either fish or prawn paste alone. You can omit the prawns if you have allergy.

      You can use the mackerel flesh or store bought fish paste.

    Thank you for the recipe! Is it possible to use an air fryer to fry the tofu? If so, what settings would you recommend?

      May not turn out as good in an air fryer. Have not tried though

      Yes, you can make ahead of time and freeze them. Bring out to room temperature before frying.

    My mashed tofu looks watery. And it released water when it was steaming. Doesn’t seem like it will firm up after 20mins. Should I steam it longer? Will it eventually firm up? What to do with soggy steamed tofu? Stir fry it?

      What type of tofu you uses? Sid you add enough cornstarch into the seafood tofu mixture? Some water will appear on the surface during steaming but we can just drain it off. Not sure why yours did not firm up after steaming.

    What size of steaming tray do you use?

      For this recipe, I used a 7-inch square steaming tray.

    Can normal flour substitute the corn flour?

      Corn flour is recommended for an extra crispy texture. Alternatively, you can try with tapioca starch, or a combination of rice flour + all purpose flour.
