Credit to Glasner who has improved so many players. Hughes looks a different player now compared to when he was playing under Roy.🦅

    Excellent news.

Im of the same opinion of you. I really thought he was not premier league standard, slow & kept giving the ball away far to often. But under glasner he has been a revelation, so another years contract extension is well deserved imo.
I think once Decoure comes back he will be benched but good to have as back up.

Hughesy was a teenage sensation at derby when everyone thought he would b the next big thing-he hasnt quite lived up to that hype-but I keep seeing improvement in his game and value to the team-he may yet get there -just is taking him longer that expected

I've long believed that Hughes could become the natural successor to James McArthur, which (IMO) is exactly how Glasner has him playing right now. It's a joy to watch. Really pleased to have him as a squad player next season.

Yes, we have needed a replacement for him and Hughes seems to be becoming that.

I agree. Earlier in the season I just couldn't work out why he still kept getting games. In some moments he seemed instrumental to goals against CP and almost never looked committed to taking on key tackles when opponents entered the danger zone. Standing around doing more pointing than playing. But have to admit Glasner seems to have made him a changed man!

From what I've heard, OG seems to have that affect on players.

I welcome this decision. Hughes has had some ups and downs, but he's been quite good under Glasner. A good fall back player if and when Decoure comes back, as long as he can avoid those yellow cards.

Not too many ex public school pupils make it as footballers. Hughes went to Repton. As did C B Fry who captained England at cricket, broke the world long jump record, played in the FA Cup final for Soton and even played football once for England.

      Oh, I didn't real8se that.

Most public schools play Rugby luckily for us Repton are an exception. Hughes has been a sensation in the last few games.
He’s not a back foot player and Glasner’s style has transformed him. A joy to watch.

I found his interview alongside Mateta really strange, JP was happy with the goals whilst Hughes body language was so off and didn't seem to want to talk either

Yeah, I agree. It seemed a little off. Like he didn't want to be interviewed.

I think it a dangerous fantasy that we can replace all the weaker players in our squad with better players-we are Crystal Palace not Real Madrid -yes there will b additions this summer but they will probably b young players who have never played in the prem before or even been in the uk before - you have to have some experienced combative players who are leaders and protect the younger players -we cannot afford not to retain some of our existing squad -hughesy deserves his contract extension- he is a ferocious competitor-his team mate at Watford Troy deeney was asked who was the angriest baller he ever played with -Troy said hughesy in fact Troy said hughesy was the angriest person he had ever met-and Troy remember has been to prison -

Oh absolutely. I don't think we will be able to have top players who aren't in the first team. This season has been a terrible one for injuries which has shown our lack of depth.

Did you measure the length of his nose before & after he said that?
