Had a bet on City to win the league start of the season. Really hoping you make it 4 in row on Sunday.

I'm a Rovers fan, and while gutted to see him go so early - I really wanted the chance to see another season out of him, but I'm so happy Wharton is doing so well for you guys. He's one of our own, a local lad, fan, and he really didn't want to leave. What I mean is, he's not the type to suddenly want to jump to another team. He has adapted well with you, is one of the first names on the team sheet, and looks like he enjoys playing for the club and manager. This lad has a very big future, which is a obvious considering his start with you lot, how he has taken to the PL so easily, and is now attracting interest already. So glad he went to the Eagles and not a top 6 club where he'd warm the bench or just go out on loan a hundred times. Reckon you'll have him for a couple of seasons, as if he continues on this trajectory, we're talking a 100+ million player for sure.

Absolutely right. I think Adam Wharton is an amazing player who is getting better all the time. He will become world class and it's great to see him grow.

I expect the summer to be active, but I also think the global football media is bonkers. My guess is 90% of the rumors we'll see are either outright nonsense or a half-truth taken way out of context. Glasner was never going to Bayern this soon and Wharton is in a groove with his sharpness and playmaking. His situation could hardly be better at the moment.

I think the only player who will go this summer is Guehi. Olise and Eze are enjoying playing with eachother too much

@@PalacetotheCore it's what we are all hoping... Guehi is great - best centre back we've ever had - but we'll be fine without him. Eze and Olise on the other hand are irreplaceable...

A contract should be a contract! A release fee should be just that, plus a fee for the player. Talksport have stirred this up for ages, since they started to sit up and take notice of the Palace performances. Up till then we didn't get a mention unless we were playing a top 6 team. Currently we have Guehi, Wharton, Olise, Eze and Dougie Freedman all up for grabs according to the media; I just wish they would leave alone and let us have a good next season.

You said "Apparently he has got a good friend at Bayern Munich" which made me laugh.
Because Glasner actually has very good ties to Bayern Munich´s Sporting director from the time back then as Glasner was "Sporting coordinator = which is a desk job" for Red Bull Salzburg which was before he then started to work as an Assistent Coach for Red Bull Salzburg..
And Bayern Munich´s current Sporting director was back then Sporting director at Red Bull Salzburg. The name of that guy is "Christoph Freund" and his last name "Freund" means literally "friend" in English. That´s why I had to laugh.
Of course they had a very good and very respectful working relationship with each other and they even shared an office together but if they are therefore "good friends" is a bit farfetched.
At least in the sense of what "friend/Freund" means in German = "pure private relationship" but not a "good and friendly working relationship" even when these working colleges go after work for a beer together on a regular basis... there simply has to be happen more to become "friends"
We German speakers strictly divide "private" and "work" for using the term "friend" which is a term solely for "private life/private realtionships/actually being part of private life"...
I´m aware that in English "friend" has a way broader meaning where a so to say "friendly acquaintanceship" can be already considered as "friend" = and that´s how I would describe Glasner´s relationship to Freund = "a friendly acquaintanceship"
And by the way according to Austrian medias - Glasner himself - refused Bayern´s offer instantly.
He is no "Glory-hunter" but an honourable and humble man with trustworthiness in business..He is not that kind of guy who leaves everything behind before his job is done. Bayern simply had a bad timing for that offer, should had contacted him before he had signed a contract with Palace.

Ah, thank you. That makes a lot of sense. I knew he wouldn't be the type of person to leave like that. He seems a very honest and honourable person.
Thank you for your insight. It's great to find out the background to these stories.

I just hope that we back Oli in the summer transfer window. It's inevitable that one of our stars will be sold as a means to balance our books. If we act like we have in our previous summer transfers and leave everything to the last minute and don't get our number 1 targets, we could end up frustrating Oli and making him wish that he left for Bayern.

    • @PalacetotheCore
      @PalacetotheCore  28 дней назад

Yeah, this feels like it will be a key transfer window for us.

So it comes down to this-fail to win on Sunday and we could finish 14th-win and we could equal our highest points tally in the prem and the highest finish -top half-so much for all the rubbish which was spoken about our season being over when the toffees knocked us out of the cup in Jan
