    Why is descaling necessary for different types of metal?
    Scale forms on the surface of steel when the billet, blooms, plates, seamless pipes, slabs, strips, and profile materials are heated again due to oxidation. During the rolling process, a de-scaling mechanism is used, to keep this layer from melting into the material below it.
    What is the function of High Pressure Water Jet in descaling of steel in the Steel Plant?
    The scale is loosened when a high-pressure water jet strikes the surface between the scale and the base material at different angular locations using strategically placed nozzles. High-pressure water is used to rinse away the loosened scale. The quality of the Rolled Product is increased by avoiding the fusing of oxidised scale into the base material.

    In a direct de-scaling system, scaling is removed directly from High Pressure Plunger Pumps through Valves and a De-scaling Header. In addition, de-scaling is performed using an accumulator, which gathers high-pressure water from High-Pressure Reciprocating Plunge Pumps and utilises the water as required through an emergency valve, operational valve, and de-scaling header.
