  • Polish food and the Polish people were 2 big surprises on our trip to Krakow. Our first time here and we are fascinated with the Polish language but more importantly the Pierogies (Polish dumplings), we are obsessed.
We didn't know much about Krakow but it is beautiful with cobbled streets and so many nice restaurants, bars and cafes.

What I love about Poland is that there are so many secret places there the world absolutely knows nothing about. I know places I can stay at a home, surrounded by various friendly animals, fall asleep to the sound of howling wolves, wake up in the morning, go for a run, take a swim in one of the cleanest lakes in the entire world, in which I can stand in neck deep water and see small fish swim around my feet. Afterwards I go into the woods, where wild berries grow in huge fields, get my breakfast there. Go out with a friend, watch the nest of a giant eagle, go hunt a wild boar and prepare it and have a great time with friends. And the nights, oh my, beautiful night sky, you'll see so many stars.

On My Mom's side I am full blood Ukrainian - and loooove these as we have them every Christmas as traditional along with Fish, Borscht and something called "ushka" spelled different than thst but you get the point I am sure :) lol oh but for desert even something more you qould looove similar to perogies are what we prounounce as "Kenedley" cinnoman, sugar and plums d and put inside the same kind of dumpling with scorched butter on top! Yummmmmm! My faves! ;)

I hope you'll revisit Poland. There are so many treasures in Poland's beautiful regions to discover. Too numerous to mention.
Best time of year to visit is from mid-May to late August. Most Polish natives and tourists head up north to the Baltic coast cities. Sopot is most popular. (I'm lucky to have most of my family living there). Beware of jacked up prices there at this time. As soon as kids go back to school, prices drop to normal again (about 15% is the price hike). Its the same all over Europe, if not the whole world. It's worth a visit.
Hope the weather will be good on your next visit.
    Happy Trails!

I know that for many people located in the British Isles it seems like Eastern Europe but it's Central actually :) Enjoy your travels, dumplings are the food in Poland and are all awesome. I remember stumbling into a bar that offered over 30 varieties of them! If you ever find dumplings with duck meat you must try them :)

4:24 This is a "pączek" (a bit like a donut, but real) with frosting and candied orange peel (plus filling).
In Poland, apart from feeding ducks in parks, feeding pigeons in city centers is a popular activity.

If you haven't had pierogies filled the Krout, you haven't lived yet. Polish food is at least 100 times better than English food. :)

The squiggles under vowels make them into nasal sounds. So similar to French, it almost sounds like they are followed by an N, but not quite.
And rose marmalade is the quintessential Polish filling for its doughnuts.

Nowadays Poland is a very attractive country for many Europeans. Our streets are very clean, safe, no terrorist attacks, no ninjas walking on the street, reasonable prices, delicious food, beautiful cities, what can you want more? Wroclaw is the best! This is my city! Welcome everybody! Btw, we are not cold, maybe a little bit reserved and not that full of expression, and bubbly, but the younger generation is catching up with being more open...
