    For anyone interested. The resin on the inside of the lid is caused by static electricity. When you peel the plastic from the factory off the cover, it charges the plastic and you can actually see resin droplets getting pulled over to the side cover. To eliminate this, after you peel the factory wrapping, wipe the entire lid with a dryer sheet. This will discharge the static and eliminate the issue.

    After watching this video for few times, i ordered my first 3D resin printer, the M3, as you mentioned in the video, this is a good spot for new comers like me, price is right, the build volume is right, the timing is also right. while waiting for the larger build volume of the DLP 3D printer, the M3 seems good for now. thanks VOG, nice video!

    Maybe they are calling it 4k+ because it's 16:10 rather than 16:9? Looks like a nice printer. I've been thinking of buying for a few years; crazy that the "entry-level" of today is nicer than high end units from a few years back.

    I was in the test group for this printer and the M3 Plus, I got great prints from the M3 Plus, but the M3 struggled. Also at the time no other slicers supported the printers and the photon workshop versions were in beta and had artifacting during the slice that would cause prints to fail. Now that lychee has support, I am going to give the printer another run and see if it performs better so I can update my original review of it.

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад +4

      It is tricky reviewing beta printers. A lot of times there's no slicer information and you have to try your best to figure this out yourself (that's what happened to me with the Jupiter). Still, I think you'll find the M3 is a good little runner now 😁

    Looked into this for a while now and the printer does not apply the settings as specified in the slicer. Neither Lychee, Anycubic's own workshop or Chitubox work. It's a printer firmware issue. (It adds 10 layer transitions at all times no matter what your settings are and the movement and speed is also completely wrong.) Hopefully this saves some people headaches trying to figure it out.
    Also, VOG, maybe you have some contacts at Anycubic and you could point this out. I've tried to figure this out with their support team and after about 10 emails back and forth they contacted engineering they said and never heard of them since. Now after 4 reminders I think they are simply ignoring me.
    Besides settings, the exposure difference all across the screen is also pretty huge, something to keep in mind when using thin supports because they will almost definetly fail if you place them near the edge of the buildplate.

    Good review and it looks good. Another negative with this printer though is the proprietary fep in a frame to fit in the tray, this is never mentioned anywhere and with no stock in some places, you are then at anycubics mercy and they don’t have the best or speediest of parts delivery or customer service.

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад

      I'll be honest, I've changed dozens of FEPs and I've never once looked which brand it is. In the same token, I know some guess that upon receiving their new printers will instantly replace the FEP with a brand they favour. So I guess what I'm saying to you buddy is don't feel that you have to be locked in to one brand 😁👍👍👍

    • @johnralston5505
      @johnralston5505 Год назад

      @@vogman You do, because the FEP 'tray/ring/frame' is plastic and has the FEP glued into it. Hence you can't just replace the film. You have to order the kit from Anycubic. For me in Feb 2023 it was $30USD for two. And since they shipped from China it took exactly 2 weeks to arrive.
      A real shame considering I live 114 miles from their LA area warehouse. I found this out after I pulled the FEP frame out expecting to replace the film with some I had purchased.
      Anycubic support confirmed this is the only way to get replacement FEPs.

    Is there any benefit?
    Have you tested this?
    The reason is to do with oxygen interfering with the process?
    If drop does help can you remove the dissolved water to further improve?
    I’m going to assume it’s not worth the lower vacuum to displace the O2
    But it could be interesting 🧐

    thank you for the review, maybe this helped me to find out the results of this printer, especially in this video review I focus on the resin splashes scattered on the cover case and the results are not much different from photons mono 4k, like the results for the building details are very satisfying especially the size of the bed bigger than mono 4k.
    My question about the results will be smoother? especially for wide 3d model because my plan is to make some small-scale truck / vehicle parts
    Although your print result look satisfying most of them is small Figure looks fine
    I ask Because i still unsatisfied the printer result from my friend's that use photon S, the result, especially on the corner does have a lot of curved parts dont have sharp corners especially just only the box model, & the sides are to wavy not same like 3d design
    I still sceptical about firmware update or if I using another slicer application i Heard some member in official Facebook anycubic forum always have problem about firmware & software problem.
    How about your experience for firsts time use this photon M3 printer ?
    Did need tweak again?
    This review strengthens my intention to buy 3d printing I hope in the nearest future I can buy this printer and don't regret it

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад +2

      Resin printing has come along very quickly and it's fair to say the Photon S has already been surpassed by many models, including the M3.
      Precision on large flat areas including corners is always going to be challenging - you'll certainly achieve good results but absolute perfection is unlikely. However, if you're a model maker you should be used to fettling pieces to get them just right and the good news is most resins respond very well to sanding. If you use a very fine grade paper (400 grit and above), you can smooth out layer lines, etc, allowing for primer and paint that should achieve a satisfying result.
      I hope this helps in your decision making 😁

      You get splashes with the Mono 4k? That's odd been using one for a few months with no splash at all. Have you checked the rail for wobble? The M3 seems like a great upgrade to the Mono 4k and this review helped me make that decision. It's still entry level, but for the sale price I picked it up it's amazingly worth it.

    i watched a vlog from anycubic (from a few days back) saying this printer can easy do 1.5 expocuetime, whit higher light or was it lower light he said the setting or how in video if i remeber right, it was video whit a guy visiting anycubic and seeing all the new M printers. - if u stilll have it maby test that?

      The M3 is a entry level printer and is very good for what it is. The Mono X 6K (or the M3 Plus version) both print at 34 μm which is a little sharper than the 40 seen here, plus they give you the scope of much larger prints if you ever need that. What you really need to do is decide what you want from a printer and then base your decision on that 😁

      I'd say that's pretty normal. Resin printing isn't a fast process and the estimated times shown in slicers and even on the printer UI shouldn't be fully believed. An "estimate" is more like it.
      Obviously the taller you go, the longer it takes. Similarly the finer the layering, the longer it takes.
