We finally made it! The last room makeover of the Lorne Beach House. After renovating the exterior, dining room, living room, kitchen, master bedroom, kids retreat, laundry, bathroom, bedrooms and ensuites we now tackle the final room of the house - the guest bedroom and ensuite. The smallest room in the house, the guest room is a blank canvas needing to be elevated to match the rest of the home's new interior. A complete DIY makeover follow our journey to see how we turn bland into bold.

I am amazed by the building techniques in America and Australia. We Germans would never ever build homes like that 😆 For us it has to be solid "stone". Not meaning to offend anyone!

Was at the tile shop today for looking, then saw the nice square white ’mother-of-pearl’ tiles on your bathroom walls..i thought : wahoo, they did great! Then, you smashed it..For the bathroom floor, i understand.. but for the walls, not really as a bathroom is a narrow space and the stick tiles make it looks narrower.
Anyway, seeing you enjoying working together is fun :)
This has been an amazing series! I’m not sure what your plans are next for content, but I would love to see a Q&A about this project! I have lots of questions: What’s your favorite room in the completed house? Which space was the most fun to reno? Which new piece of furniture in the house is your favorite? What was the most challenging part of this project? What was the reaction of the rest of your family when they saw the finished house? I could go on and on!

I love the gold (ish) taps you used in all the ensuites. They add warmth to the rooms.

Yeah we were thinking artwork or a shelf. But the space is so small already so kept it open for now. Can always add something in later.

Adding the extra space into the room was genius, although I am confused as to which bit you stole from the rumpus room? Was it the sofa alcove or where the cot and desk were?
The ensuite looks awesome, so fresh and bright. Only thing I would add is a few of Jono's special shelves on the back wall over the toilet (sorry Jono). Then you have somewhere to put some pretty things, a hanging plant, and maybe a basket or something to store toilet rolls or cleaning products in. Apart from that I l♡ve it.
Are you planning on making a video showing the family enjoying their new summer house? Would be great to see it in use.
I've absolutely loved watching this Reno and am kind of sad it's finished. 😣
There was a cupboard under the stairs. Next to where the bunks now end in the kids room. We swapped the opening to the guest side.

What's your golden rule for wall picture height? I tend to like a picture to hang so I don't have to look up too much but it depends on the format of course. Eye height plus 30% of the height of the picture. I see many different schools on this.

Well we had a holiday finally. Which was great. Then we got sick because its winter and everyone is sick... So taking it easy for a couple of weeks while we plan the next project. Already living in the new project house so stay tuned!!!!
