Juicers; 20 months ago, I bought the Cuisinart CSJ-300 Easy Clean Slow Juicer. I save the pulp and eat it (never thought I would do that), so I am getting all the nutrients and there is no waste. The juice turns out perfect. The unit is very easy to clean.

I’ve been making Betties for over a half-century, and as good as this one looks, the hand pies are the real winner for me. I’ve never made good ones, but this recipe is definitely what I’m baking this weekend. Never occurred to me to use rough puff and never-ever would have made it in a bag. Thanks!

I think folding in a half like an empanada without crimping the one side would make them more like a Hostess pie and hold more filling.

I'd put more cherry filling in mine. And maybe have a small cup of cool whip to dip them in. As well as a hot cup of coffee with Amaretto creamer. Going to attempt to make these in the Fall/Winter. Yummy!!😋😋😋

How would you glaze the fruit pies to get them closer to Hostess? I love those room temp or even cold fruit pies

I'd say just make a basic icing recipe with powdered sugar?

What on earth is a " hand pie ? "
In the same vein , what on earth is an ‘ erb ?’
Greetings from the other side of the pond.

🇺🇲 here 👋 I think "hand pie," is a southern thing and means you can hold it in your hand and eat it in a way that would horrify Lady Grantham 😂. "Herb" is short for "Herbert' here. One of my favorite Britcoms is Good Neighbors (🇬🇧: The Good Life) and as a kid I remember Tom Good mentioning "herbs" and "courgettes"in just about every episode. Then there was Arthur Fowler on Eastenders, going on and on about some stolen marrow in his allotment. This was 1988, so I had to wonder what kind of vegetable was deemed so valuable that he needed to call "the ol' bill" for instead of whipping out my phone and googling. 😂

I've seen all of this already. When it first was showed on youtube a while ago, sales of "zipper-lock" plastic bags increased by 10%. Those bags are now decomposing in landfills, and another 10% increase is expected. No, you do not need a G-- D--- plastic bag to make dough. Stop. Please stop.

Do you have a reference to the "increase in sales" for ziploc bags? Justify your comment.

I like to triple bag mine in the super thick freezer bags with extra plastic for my pleasure.
You know we can always mine the landfills later for plastic and other materials when it becomes more efficient to recycle them.
As long as people aren't dumping them in the ocean

Stop making plastc. I grew up without it and did fine. Big business dictates what we do or use

@@Janeburns-mi9dhHow old are you? Growing up without plastic? Born pre-1960? Plastic was in wide spred use after WWII. By 1970s plastic bags were used lot.
Not there are bio degradable plastic bags. There are also reusable freezer bags. Our family uses them all the time. Its not necessarily an all or nothing proposition to not overly impact the environment.

Much too labor intensive for me. I’ll buy my dough frozen.
