the new Vergil is like trying to be cool and doing well The old Vergil is trying to act kinda normal but he can't because he is cool That's the diference i can spott
kogiama The way I look at that - they entirely different persons, just with simmilar battle styles and same name. DLC tried to make from new!Vergil the old one but only ruined new!Vergil...
You know what...I like the new one because he reminds me of the old one more than the new Dante or Donte(?)..I don't realy like their personalities, plus I think that the DmC series have lost the magic feeling that the DMC series had,..Just an opinion though
judgement cut in dmc3 is legit as fuck. You see virgil partially unsheathe his sword 3 times follow by the sound of a deep bass as if someone angered a hornets nest.
It also takes a bit of practice to use Judgement Cut to it's full potential, Vergil may be op but you have to put in the effort to make him unstoppable
DmC Vergil: I'm the greatest version! DMC 5 Vergil: Thank you for that! Now I shall give you death in return! DmC Vergil: I've already died once! DMC3's Vergil looks cool and collected in his moves which look and feel very controlled and powerful. He only does exactly what is needed, not the tiniest of movement more. This fit his character to a T and the slight pauses between slashes were some of my favourite things as it made you look completely in charge of a battle. Playing with Vergil makes you feel like a General or Field Marshall. Control, Vision and Deliberation. 2013 Vergil is more flashy and a bit faster (I mean the feel of the animation) which also seems more in line with his persona in the 2013 game as far as I've seen/heard. I actually find both elegant, just not in entirely the same way. DMC3 Vergil is elegant in his feeling of cold and unerring precision, 2013 vergil more in the slight exaggeration of fluid movement (though I think DMC3 Vergil is more interesting in his acceleration and deceleration in movements themselves) It looks better than expected to me, probably because they stuck closely to the original...at least they did it with something hah. Thanks for the comparison.
Jeah he dances more arround in the same amount of time, and i have to admit i like some of that stuff..a shame that i already deleted the game after getting it for free. Maybe the dlc is less crap than Dantes story.
James Korvenius DmC Vergil Can cancel into any attack, air ground, anywhere using either of his dodges or jump cancelling, if you actually played DmC you'd know that. DmC Vergil's Downfall - VMD - Mission 5 "Own Shadow" Vergil Must Die SSS No Damage (20% Turbo)
Sam D I dont know if its the game, or the character, i finished yesterday finally Dante must Die with Vergil and made some new records in Bloody Palace and as i was giving this game another chance, it felt really slow on the ps3. He moves fast yes, faster? No, wich was not the issue i belive. But he reacts really slow to my command compared to DMC 3 Vergil. I think this video is DmC on 60 fps on a computer because else it has to be fake. DmC Vergil is never that fast in my game.
Lol new Vergil took dmc3 doppelganger boss and said this is my DT! New Vergil- Doesn't change my appearance but it makes a clone of me so its two agianst one pretty strong right? Original Vergil in DT form- You are not worthy as my opponent. Nelo Angelo- Ha ha ha!!
I have no problems with the DmC Vergil. He is elegant, determined and strong but the DMC3 Vergil is more ruthless and powerful I can't get enough slaughtering enemies with the Beowulf.
a very tiny detail i like DMC Devil my cry vergil over DMC3 vergil is how he holds yamato in it's sheath, it's a very minor thing but i think it works nicely
In my opinion.. The dmc3 vergil's attacks were more brutal, clean. Like its a strong swing of his blade, no funny animation of repeated lines following the blade. The new dmc vergil's attack animations, not the way he swings it but the effect it makes seems too similar to that of Dante DmC. Like its still cool seeing how he shows off other ways of to sheath his sword.
The DmC Vergil has its own pros and cons. Pros is that it has a lot of yamato action and speedier(thought it's not always a good thing). The cons is that he is a bit too flashy and some of the animations are not smooth and clean. Too much explosion. The reason why I like the old Vergil is because of his swiftness and the way he precisely draws yamato. It's simple yet very clean cut. It also suits his characterization. Simple moveset, like he is not even putting an effort to it, yet very destructive. BTW I dont hate explosiveness. It just that it doesnt suits Vergil's characterization. It's more of Dante's style. Though, a little explosion to Vergil's attack doesnt hurt.
Yes, DMC3 Vergil is much cleaner and more precise. People that are observant or actually trained in swordsmanship would recognize this. He even holds his sheath in the proper position to counter attacks like in Iaido. DmC Vergil is not worthy to be his opponent.
Out of both of these, I like Reboot Vergil with his Yamato Combo B (Crosscut). He can actually perform the five-hit combo WITHOUT Devil Trigger. I also love his freedom of teleporting in any direction he wants, be it up, down, or in any direction he wishes to dodge. In my own DMC projects, I'm gonna combine all of Vergil's different gameplay styles (minus Nero Angero) and see the result. I might try the same with Dante (give him a scythe, an axe, twin shuriken, permit him to cancel various moves into his other weapons' moves).
As much as i hate this DmC vergil and his characterization, i will admit, i do enjoy how his moveset is much more yamato centered. And i know, DMC is all about having multiple weapons and weapon switching, i just felt Classic vergils moveset with the yamato was EXTREMELY limited. Not that it ruins his play style or anything, it's just i would've liked to see more of vergil taking advantage of the weapon he seems to master so much in cutscenes. And with the moveset he has here, i can't help but feel it could be a good base for any future movesets vergil is given, .......and it's bit of a guilty pleasure for me to watch combos with!
Videogame Universe There isn’t much to compare; several of DmC Vergil’s moves were incorporated into DMC4SE Vergil’s moveset. Majority of it being focus on Yamato.
Well, it's adjusted to account for the change in gameplay style. DmC is into flashy combos and hack-n-slashing, DMC was into more controlled hack-and-slashing, and more effective combos. Which is why it was harder.
DmC Vergil was pretty cool. He was much more of a schemer and was unpredictable at times. DMC3 Vergil's cooler, though. Both are pretty good characters; it's just that one of them has no purpose in his game other than being a boss. DMC3 Vergil was important to the plot, while DmC Vergil just kinda went evil at the end. I could get him being willing to do what it takes to win, but turning evil at the end felt forced as hell. I don't think DmC is a terrible game or even a terrible DMC game (DMC2 is way worse and way more boring), heck, I enjoyed it a lot, but it didn't get Vergil's impact and contrast to Dante right. It didn't out right change him like they did with Dante, but the contrast between the two wasn't as big or as emotional as DMC3 (and DMC3 is a cheese fest of ridiculously cool shit, but it managed to give character development to both of the main characters). Just my opinion, but still; I know how anything related to DmC makes people go ape shit.
Very nice comparison. All the moves look very similiar and Ninja Theory did a good job staying faithful to Vergil's moves but at the same time making the controls more fluid in DmC.
Honestly, the new DmC has better combat and a better more coherent and useful story. Ive played and really love the original devil may cry games, but the new one is great. We will all have the memories of the moments from the first 3 (4, which I liked also) but theres no reason really to hate the new DmC. Combat is awesome and fun, story was good.. Yeah.
The only thing the new Vergil has on the old Vergil is that sick animation parts where the new Vergil puts his blade back in his sheath. THAT'S THE ONLY THING.
Even then that's arguable because like the rest of his attacks, it's so wide and just exerts so much effort and a weird cadence and flow to what most of us are used to as a weapon of clean slashes and smooth motion. It's like every swing he put too much power and has to subtly but not really stop his own momentum harshly just to continue the combo. What does this have to do with the sheathing animation? It has exactly the same weird flow and over exertion as his slashes, hence I'd rather take DMC3 Vergil bc everything he does is so controlled and smooth, even if I disagree with his attack cadence a bit.
Classic Vergil - can beat classic Dante - great endurance. fought Arkham, Dante and Mundus in one go, although he lost to Mundus in the end - is just straight badass that words are not enough to describe him - does not depend on anyone, usually by himself - calm and cool, regardless of the situation - can taunt (This is a big deal) - more flashy moves. the spinning he does in the air with Yamato was actually better in DMC 4 than in DmC. - smart but does not need to be a hell lot genius. just cuts everything down - but that Judgement Cut End tho DmC Vergil - never shown to be able to beat Dante - what the fuck man, a single sword stab hurts him to near death? Cmon, Angel+Demon hybrid should be more enduring than Human+Demon hybrid - cool sheathing animations, but not enough to be as badass as the old one - depends the work to Dante and a gothic/emo girl - damn, he gotta improve his cool in this one. - more powerful moves though imo (He has Atomic, Solar Flare and Perfect Slice. Perfect Slice > Judgement Cut in DMC 3 & 4 bec of Invurnerability frames and larger radius. This Vergil lacked Heavy Rain Swords and taunts but he's straight out doing great for only using one weapon) - can Demon Pull stuff using SS - 2 is better than one. Although his DT does not look as badass as the classic, it still increases the damage and gives him small regen. - can hack lul, but that's gonna be useless throughout the entire game. Classic Vergil still wins. Why? Because the power of Motivation.
Grày Gód Îndrà I feel the DmC universe grounds their healing factors to a more realistic lv where in the old DMC it was just ridiculous Dante and Virgil can get stabbed all over and through their bodies multiple times and still act like nothing happened it was honestly ridiculous and one area the reboot did a better job in.
wiseguy240 Winston its original Devil may cry okay! of course Dante and Vergil healing factors are crazy and ridiculous, but that what Devil may cry is. for me tho.. (just saying) Dante and Vergil in DmC is just more like "Human with power" but not a hybrid of a demon and angel. well.. if their a hybrid their healing factors will be insane more like wolverine, and their Devil Trigger will look alot like angel-demon, and their power and speed will double times the original, but what happend..? NT didn't put it in the Game so.. and one more thing! (this is just one more thing i want to add so) if vergil is easily died just being stab through the chest (witch also will effect Dante because his Vergil's brother and have the same ability) then.. whats the point for naming the main game character Dante? (from a Latin meanings Everlasting and enduring) since Vergil has the same ability as Da- (Nah..! i already explain this)
I like that the old virgil doesnt need pretty rainbows coming off his sword to try to make himself look flashier. Virgil doesnt need to be flashy thats his whole personality. Calm collected get the job done as smoothly and cleanly as possible. The new virgil seems like hes trying to draw attention to himself
Like the others said, damn good effort! And I know I'll get shot down for saying this but I find the DmC Vergil more fun and badass to play than the regular one. Still love both of them though.
Honestly I like the new Vergil better, he is quicker he has a lot more moves in his disposal, and he seems to be more graceful....personality wise however is another story, old Vergil has got it and his voice is ten times better....new Vergil is a pussy
MrViral20 Vergil has never been about showing off, that's dante ground with vergil has been about if he draw the sword than you are dead no explosion no fancy light coming out of the sword just the flash of the blade cutting trough you :)
Having practiced heavily with both the new and the classic Vergil, I feel the new Vergil is needlessly stylized but much more fluid to work combos with. That being said, classic Vergil's style and power comes from how simple and efficient his moves are - there is no fire or unnecessary spinning. For example, the first two hits of the classic Yamato combo doesn't rake the ground like DmC to give the impression of power, but the third hit comes out and stops so abruptly that your only clue of what happened is the distortion in the air's wake. The power also comes from little things like attack range, where Yamato only swipes in front of him but the distortion reaches impressively further, scattering enemies in a full arc while he casually sheaths his sword. You can see little details in the new Vergil that's supposed to give the sense of power and you can feel him showing-off in the animations, but he doesn't give the sense of efficiency and controlled power that made classic Vergil the awe-inspiring demon he was.
I think that's also because vergil is unhinged and going mad in Vergil's Downfall. He might become more like his DMC3 counterpart in a potential sequel, especially since he finally becomes a demon king at the end of the DLC. About the spinning and additional frames in animation, I think that's kind of irrelevant since you can effectively cancel out of any attack at any point with DmC vergil, the longer animations are their to provide more freedom for the player to choose how to link/cancel vergil's various attacks. Additionally, I think its better to compare Vergil's attacks in his hollow vergil boss fight and main game boss fight. His rapid slash during the main game is actually identical to his DMC3 version, it was ony made longer for gameplay reasons because you can now cancel and modify his attacks at any point. The animations are longer to give the player more room to decide when you finish or cancel an attack. If you execute rapid slash in DmC, vergil will not unsheath his sword until the very end, because you can make him unsheath manually by inputting a different attack like upper slash rising, or a yamato slice yourself, play it again and watch the animation, its quite impressive that they are linked so seamlessly. Another example is the yamato combo, during the pause, you can wait to strike and it is only when you press the button that Vergil unsheathes his sword. It really is just about making you feel more in control of Vergil than simply being more stylized.
I don't quite see what you're trying to suggest regarding comparing the main boss and Hollow Vergil fights, the attacks and animations are identical across the board barring the sword pillars - which also seem to follow the lines of being needlessly complex (AOE strikes with gargantuan sword pillars) compared to the classic Vergil's precise cuts with Dimension Slash (each judgement cut is only one slash with Yamato). I am more than happy to accept your reasoning on the new Vergil's rapid slash if not for the fact that it was the one most guilty of the "unnecessary spinning" I mentioned. My grievance is with how he spins at the END of his rapid slash and did the three-point landing pose post-spin that gave the impression that he was too much showing-off (ESPECIALLY if unhinged) and acknowledging his enemies, while classic Vergil generally finished as if he were merely sweeping stray litter out of his path (which added to his ruthless demon personality). In a similar vein, my mention of the slowed animations were aimed more at Yamato's unsheathed strikes, I would rather the sword be sheathed in one frame and the striking animation/hitbox done in the next (which would not in any way affect combo flow) in a blistering fast motion to show off the control over the enormous power of a Son of Sparda possesses. Crosscut however was done nicely despite its slowness. All being said and done, I hope new Vergil's moveset does become as ruthless and aloof as Daniel Southworth's DMC3 performance in a possible sequel (setting my issues with the former's characterisation aside).
Zhilee Actually, the animation for rapid slash is just like DMC3 for the vergil boss fight in main game, he doesn't spin around, the reason that spin is added to the player is to elongate the animation so the player can decide when to unsheath the sword the and with what attack, instead of it being a fixed quick attack. Also rapid slash is much better now since it goes through enemies like a ninja dash instead of just being a redundant aoe stinger like dmc3. As for the crispness of the older animations, I think we can agree that might be something that will make a return in a sequel. But I still think it will be slightly more frames to allow more opportunities for the plaeyr to cancel the attacks.
I'm going to have to stick with DmC Vergil. I love Vergil's combat in DMC3. I used him much more than Dante in that game. He is fast, powerful, a badass, and using taunt while enemies try to attack me and miss while saying (hm, how boring) just made me feel very good. If possible, I'm going to get the HD collection for christmas. But I rather play DmC Vergil. He is faster, has more and new animation and attacks where as DMC3 Vergil has the same boss attacks, he is much more fluid, and has more cancels. AND...YOU CAN DO THIS (DMC Vergil Downfall Infinite Rapid Slash), that's is like something that everyone has ever dreamed of.
I couldn't disagree more. DmC Vergil only appears to be faster. I like both, but I prefer the DMC3 Vergil, and I can't wait till he comes to actual HD with DMC 4 Special Edition.
yeah i can see very clearly that it faster. But somehow at the same time i feel it WEAK compare to old Vergil's. As soon as old Vergil make a move. It's like a trunk crush into you
The transition from DmC Dante to DmC Vergil was so strange. Dante has a huge focus on flashy, fast-paced combos that over-power your enemies before they get the chance to strike; but with Vergil you needed to plot slower, more methodical movements ahead of time that involved the enemy coming to you . It took me an entire playthrough just to get used to it.
I sense a huge insecurity of favoritism for either characters. I like them both, if anything, the DMC reboot is i'ts Devil May Cry and deserves to be its own I.P next to the Original Devil May Cry.
I prefer DMC 3 Vergil as the very tight movement fits his persona, as he has perfected the Yamato and doesn't need the extra movement, and tbh for those saying that the new Vergil's attacks are much cooler, what do you expect when there is such a large year gap inbetween the two
+Dabear2567 I like how in DMC 3 Vergil uses his broadsword like a katana it makes sense because he's more comfortable with katana's but it looks kinda awkward as well
DMC5 Vergil is way more versatile, speedier, etc. (well, the Vergil's Downfall Vergil is) combining the Angel Sunmon Swords you are literally the 4th Hokage. Trust me, this is coming from a guy who bought DMC3 when it first came out on PS2
Thats funny. The only thing is that the attacks look smoother and that's because its the PS3 vs PS2......plus it only looks faster because DMC3 Vergil was about style and did his combos with a flare, much like DMC3 Dante.
Vergil in the new DmC basically reminded me of Loki in the marvel movies. Especially Vergils downfall which really highlighted his hunger for power and how he felt betrayed.
but in the vergil's downfall, dante says he's the older brother! and then, in the DMC3 game, dante says "how about a kiss form your little brother"... maybe its one of those 5 minute /5 second things..
Good video!!!! :D I never know that Ninja Theory gave much importance to the old Vergil, i mean i did not see the similarities between Lunar Phase and Orbit for example.
I like how the old trick animations had it looking like u were actually teleporting.. where as with this, it just looks like the old dash animations from dmc3.
DmC Vergil has some cool movements iI wouldn-t mind seeing incorporated into actual Vergils moveset (dunno if they did it in DMC4SE). All in all this proves once again the Vergil DLC is probably the best part of DmC in every sense.
DMC3 Vergil is classic. But they did some real interesting things with DmC Vergil though i.e a lot of his specials had just frame, rapid slash cancelling, summoned swords to pull yourself towards enemies and some other things that they had to put into DMC4SE Vergil's move set because they were so cool. Don't sleep on DmC because you can't get off to the character designs.
I like how DMC3 Vergil's so cool that he manages to do a wardrobe change at multiple points in the video. XD DmC Vergil looked cool as well of course...but I do prefer the more calm actions of the DMC3 version. Great video though, I like seeing side by side comparisons like this.
the combos added from DmC's vergil needed more tweaking due to the fact that vergil doesn't have many techniques and skills but the main problem is why he isn't wearing the same clothes he had in dmc3se instead of this "Yellow layer" instead of the black clothes and red dragon breathe like in layer...
There is no feeling of Impact on hits in DmC vergil while in DMC3 each strike that lands or even misses feels so much more powerful. Also look at the Sword sheathing animation in new DmC, it's just a still character model with only the arms animating while in the old DMC3 the whole body movement is there which looks better, not to mention the sound it makes when the sword is completely sheathed makes it even more badass.
DmC Vergil's moves are more sleek and graceful, and is more showy judging from the way he sheathes Yamato. DMC3 Vergil appears more stiff, yet more confident of his single-stroke moves and gives off a traditional aura. I should also note that DmC Vergil's judgement cut is based off how Dante uses the Yamato (Dimension Cut) in DMC4 rather than 3. Video could have included a comparison to how Dante wields the Yamato to complete the moveset.
Okay, some of DmC Vergil’s moves I want to see unironically in a mainline game. Like Orbit to Aerial Rave combo? Atomic and Volcano? Aerial Flush being an upgrade for Darkslayer Style? Or ‘Angel Boost’ under a different name of course, would be so helpful with speedrunning or general navigation.
DmC Vergil's Downfall - VMD - Mission 5 "Own Shadow" Vergil Must Die SSS No Damage (20% Turbo) If you guys liked this video, check out my DMC3 Dante vs DMC3 Vergil Boss Video.
everybody can do that on this crap, its just too easy, i took damage about 3 times in Dante must die and Vergil must die, the original dmc was a little bit hard at least, DMC 3 Hard equal with "dmc devil may cry" Dante Must Die
***** i have a girlfriend, plenty of friends and a good job at a medicine product company and i only play only a few games when there is a bad weather outside, i usually hang with my friends for example we will go to play football tomorrow If its not life what did u call life please tell me. Drinking every night in discos and parties which u wont remember because u was too drunk to remember? If thats life thanks but no thanks
2:23 I really hope Vergil DMC4SE will have the Drive Stomp move from DmC. That's one of the coolest moves i've seen and definitely Vergil DMC4SE will benefit on it.
Dmc has more potential than any of the previous DMC games. I've being a fan of the series and played every game the rebooted DMC is the best one for me personally. Here are some reasons I believe DMC has more potential than the previous devil may cry series: 1) the origin story can lead to what DMC 3 was. Because the rebooted version is before Vergil becomes evil so it makes sense to make the sequel based on what DMC 3 was. 2) Dante's look: At the end Dante's hair becomes white so they can bring back the old look without any problem... After all it's just hair -.- 3) the combat system and the environment interaction is so much better (remember that I'm a fan of the series and I've played every game so I know what I'm talking). 4) The old Dante and devil may cry theme was basically an anime the cheesiness, the exaggerated stylized action sequences and lame script just doesn't work anymore it was cool back then but now it getting old. The new DMC still has that essence but is also has more american culture in it, more realism also a very religious and mythological symbolism or references about this other world that no one knows about that is hunting humankind from the shadows. DMC (devil may cry) does a great job expressing this idea. 5) Although the new dmc didn't sell as much as devil may cry 4, the reboot had a better score and more positive reviews.
DMC3 takes place at the same time period in Dante and Vergil's lives as DmC so no, DmC isn't their youth. Also, if you take into account all of the differences in universe and character personality, it is blindingly obvious that they don't take place in the same timeline/universe. Think of DmC as more of a parallel universe or, even better, as its own entity outside of the original franchise. DmC Dante is based on the cliché of a rebellious teen fighting the system and DmC certainly doesn't have anything new in its storyline. It comes across as even more clichéd and forced than the story of any past DMC. Also, did you seriously just say DmC had a better combat system than DMC 3 or 4? I'm done.
" the cheesiness, the exaggerated stylized action sequences and lame script just doesn't work anymore it was cool back then but now it getting old." Tell that to Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2. It clearly still works. also, realism does not make a video game better in all regards, ESPECIALLY with the Devil May Cry series.
ilexyellowdog I'm currently watching a bloody Palace run-through with Dante on DMC 4, and this game playing shit-kicks the notion of DmC's slow, color-centric combat being better out of the water.
ilexyellowdog it does have better combat system than the previous ones dude... it may not be as difficult or fun but in my opinion it is, I like the size of the levels, the enviroment and how you can go around the place fighting people. The old ones the levels (rooms) where divided in sections and it wasn't comfortable also it looked like castlevania A LOT! But you got me there DMC3 had an awesome combat system, what I didn't like is the inability to use every style without having to change it but I respect your opinion I also like the old combat system I just think the new one is more fluid. What I didn't like from the new combat system is that u need certain weapons and attacks to defeat some enemies while in the previous that shit didn't stop you from being creative and using your favorite weapons also it is super easy to dominate and you are a little over powered.
angel marrero It really doesn't have a combat system anywhere near as good as DMC3 or 4. There is a reason why those games still have a hardcore playerbase constantly putting out amazing videos of the games at a high level and discovering new stuff even now while DmC has basically lost most of its playerbase after a few months. DmC lacks the depth of 3 and 4 and it has some really basic mistakes that are fundamental to the genre. It lacks the lock on that was present in all of the DMC games (even DMC2 managed that much), jump cancelling is broken and requires no positioning whatsoever and you don't even need to land the attack for the opponent to remain in the air, the demon and angel arms make it ridiculously easy to perform infinite air juggles whereas in DMC 3 and 4 it is significantly harder (apart from when using Nero in 4 but even then his Devil bringer had a much smaller range whereas in DmC they have practically infinite range) and required complete understanding of the combat system. Guns are next to useless in DmC (DMC 4 had this problem as well but nowhere near as badly) as they do very little damage, have far less variety and are made redundant by the demon/angel arms. There are no styles, which have always been my personal favourite part of DMC, which significantly limits the complexity and variety of play in DmC (and no, demon and angel are not styles, they are just weapons). Having to hold onto the shoulder buttons in DmC to change weapons can cause discomfort and a toggles system similar to past games would have been far better. The style system is broken and ridiculously easy to exploit (it is famously easy to get a SSS ranking and once you achieve a ranking, unless you get hit, you won't drop down a rank even if you do nothing) and the demon dodge breaks the game, allowing bosses to be beaten in 5 hits or with one strategy often. Dante's movement is also a lot less fluid than past games as in between each attack he will pause for a small period of time, giving the game a clunky feel to it whereas in past games each swing led into the next, giving a much more fluid feeling to combat. Weapons are also terribly balanced in DmC. Arbiter is too slow and clunky to be of any use (and when you jump cancel it in the air it does no damage as well, which is stupid), Aquila is unquestionably the best weapon in the game due to its wide range, ability to pull enemies in and to stop one enemy in place while you deal with another, all while getting crazy style points. And like you said, the colour coding of enemies was just stupid and goes against the whole ethos of DMC. The level design in DmC is far more linear than the past games where there was a large scope for exploration (though it was discouraged by your final mission ranking taking time outside of combat into account). The art style for the environments in DmC is definitely a lot better than past games, I'll admit. The only problem with the art style was it made for the game to be locked to 30fps on consoles which is unacceptable in a game like this where 60fps is expected (the PC version did allow for 60fps though). On a more positive note, many of the problems I talked about with DmC look to be lessened or even fixed with the DmC: Definitive edition that Capcom is releasing for the current gen platforms in 2015. They will also be fixing the colour coded enemies you will be happy to know. A special edition of DMC4 is also releasing later (with VERGIL! :D ) so both sides of the fanbase will be catered to. Also, about your gripe with DMC 3 about only having one style available at any one point; if you own the PC version of DMC 3 there was a mod recently made for it which allows style switching ala DMC4 so you might want to check that out. If you managed to read all that then thanks, I understand that it is a lot but don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you shouldn't enjoy DmC (that would be incredibly stupid of me to say) just that it has some serious flaws with its combat system and that I really don't think that its combat is at all close to the level of combat in DMC 3/4 (only game that rivals those two for me is the Bayonetta franchise). Hope you found my post helpful and that it perhaps gave you a new perspective on the issue.
Is anyone going to talk about how everybody talks shit about DmC Vergil’s moveset, but they don’t realize that DMC5 Vergil basically has the same moveset? XD
"Volcano", is not actually a unique move to DmC, as Vergil has a move with the same name and functionality using Beowulf in his second boss fight. It's the one where he punches the ground and releases a shock wave while saying "Rest in peace". Not sure if it's available to him as a playable character though.
I find DMC3 Vergil more composted and stylish than in DmC say what you want about the new vergil and stuff heck even bash me for being rude at the reboot one but he doesn't come not even close to the original Vergil.
I really can´t see why people hate this vergil so much, it doesn´t make any sense, it has more moves and it has more variety, doesn´t that what players wanted?, people doesn´t know what they want anymore.
DMC4SE Vergil Vs DMCDE Vergil I think you should make this video. It would be cool to see the differences! Especially if you turn the turbo on for both games!
I must say I prefer the new Vergil, his costume is better, and I like his attacks more. But the new Dante I don't like, the white hair was so cool in my opinion but then they changed to that black hair and now he just feels like a natural game protagonist.
New vergil's moveset looks much nicer than the old one, haven't played it so i can't judge whether it plays as good The old vergil was a better character since he played the villain role very well and was very respectable
Will always love original over new but new Vergil ain't so bad wish though they gave him a better voice actor in DmC but glad to see classic Vergil returning in dmc4 special edition.
If you notice the animations of DmC Vergil's attacks is slightly faster and a bit flashier when he sheathes his sword...original vergil adopted the whole :angelic teleportation" in gameplay by using a summoned sword and teleporting to it
Le Chain really? It actually seemed more like adapted nero's range grabs to progress in missions since he goes through nero and dante's mission. I mean if he didn't have that teleport thing then vergil would only be able to finish dante's mission making vergil's campaign short. Also flashier? Well the graphics change so you should've expected that. Also the faster pace was due to the combat mechanics were better. Just look at dante's combos. Imo it was no relation.
Both stances on how they wield their folded Katana are right. It's just a matter of perspective and what age it was. DmC uses the more popular "proper" way in the East, and DMC3 Vergil uses the more Western Approach. Of course, they wanted someone who is skilled enough, respectful, yet playful with the Katana, a little bit on the wild side. So That's why DMC3/4/5 (4 and 5 are based on DmC Vergil) use the different scabbard technique. While DmC suffers from impact, sound and general punch when performing moves, and it doesn't flash the Katana when he sheaths it like in DMC3, 4 and DMC5, it's more of a proper way of wielding it. So they did their job right. Now DMC3:SE also suffers from the lack of punch from DMC4:SE Vergil and DMC5:SE Vergil, but 4 and 5 were made and based on DmC, which was a good game, but a kinda to meh DMC (Still miles better than DMC2, and on par with DMC4) game. It's like someone rebooted Bayonetta. Wouldn't feel right. Still, it got good scores and the combos were decent. But when i say it's a good game, i mean the Definitive Edition. The regular is just kinda "there". At least Vergil got a proper DLC with his levels and story in DmC, something we will never get in a DMC game. At least he doesn't have a Fedora anymore. And for sure, DmC Vergil is more elegant. DMC Vergil is more playful, but maintaining his cool and calculation.
the new Vergil is like trying to be cool and doing well
The old Vergil is trying to act kinda normal but he can't because he is cool
That's the diference i can spott
Just made my day.
kogiama old vergil act gooder than new crap
Although I think that the new Vergil isn't as bad as new Dante,I agree...the old and classic one is soooo much better
kogiama The way I look at that - they entirely different persons, just with simmilar battle styles and same name.

Faster? you know that DmC Vergils moveset has almost zero cancels right?
DMC 3 Vergils moves are much faster to cancel into other moves.
James Korvenius I was talking about the visual animation and the feel of it. Not mechanics :)
Sam D
I dont know if its the game, or the character, i finished yesterday finally Dante must Die with Vergil and made some new records in Bloody Palace and as i was giving this game another chance, it felt really slow on the ps3.
He moves fast yes, faster? No, wich was not the issue i belive.
But he reacts really slow to my command compared to DMC 3 Vergil.
I think this video is DmC on 60 fps on a computer because else it has to be fake. DmC Vergil is never that fast in my game.
You forgot to compare devil triggers..., oh wait, new vergil doesn't really have one.
Adam Stewart ikr? :D Dante's DTs also joke, it's basically almost like DMC3 quicksilver with flying enemies xD
No Matter REAL Vergil will be back in 2015 for Dmc4 special edition anyway xD
I know, I'm so excited about that one :D I'll even do something i've never done; pre order a copy ;p
Need... Dmc4..... special edition.... for... Xbox 360
DMC3 vergil forever
In my opinion.. The dmc3 vergil's attacks were more brutal, clean. Like its a strong swing of his blade, no funny animation of repeated lines following the blade. The new dmc vergil's attack animations, not the way he swings it but the effect it makes seems too similar to that of Dante DmC. Like its still cool seeing how he shows off other ways of to sheath his sword.
To be fair I'm referring to both yamatos not the force edge or the beowulf.
Now... about DMC4 SE Vergil tho......
2013 is the answer
+SonicLostWorld65 ROBLOX/Hitler vids are you saying the dmc version is better?
+gus051 this video is made in 2013 and SE was in 2015 and DMC reboot was bullshit
SonicLostWorld65 ROBLOX/Hitler vids I know the video was uploaded in 2013, i was just saying that DMC4SE Vergil is insane compared to the DMC3SE.
That Force Edge combo tho....
Too bad that there's not enough move for Vergil.
Dude, no one gets it but you.
That is right
Fantasy☯Fangs apparently, there are people who liked this. They must know what i'm talking about...
Apparently.
Yes, DMC3 Vergil is much cleaner and more precise. People that are observant or actually trained in swordsmanship would recognize this. He even holds his sheath in the proper position to counter attacks like in Iaido. DmC Vergil is not worthy to be his opponent.
Love the effort you put into these. It shows Ninja Theory were faithful to the original Vergil while making him his own character.
Good stuff, dude.
DMC3 OF COURSE
vergil from dmc 3 is the best is the classic is more bad is more style !!! more high speed and beautifull slashs
You should do a comparison of DMC Vergil and DMC4 Special Edition Vergil
Videogame Universe
There isn’t much to compare; several of DmC Vergil’s moves were incorporated into DMC4SE Vergil’s moveset. Majority of it being focus on Yamato.
@@mvodinh And they are badass AF! Much cooler than in reboot. Aerial rave is so fast and powerful, Rapid Slash is just imbalansed. And other is known.
nothing to compare DmC vergil is based from dmc 3 vergil with some new element and creativity different than dmc 4 vergil
The old Vergil looks better
yep
eu tambem penso assim e digo o mesmo de dante

Yep I agree
@@franciscodavi1323 akkaka
O antigo vergil era bem melhor mesmo na aparencia
I love the way Vergil sheathes Yamato
DMC3 ofcourse
The way he sheathes Yamato in DmC: Devil May Cry is pretty stylish too
Do another one when DMC 4 SE come out.
The Rapid Slash and the Judgement Cut feels so weak in the new DmC.
Well, it's adjusted to account for the change in gameplay style.
DmC is into flashy combos and hack-n-slashing, DMC was into more controlled hack-and-slashing, and more effective combos. Which is why it was harder.
DMC4 Vergil Judgement cut end is better and brutal
2:54
Díganme lo que quieran , pero me encanta ese combo de Vergil DmC
Lo sé dmc es cool
Very nice comparison. All the moves look very similiar and Ninja Theory did a good job staying faithful to Vergil's moves but at the same time making the controls more fluid in DmC.
R.I.P. Vergil...
He can't. Not with assholes like the new dante and vergil making so much noise.
Not any more bud
Honestly, the new DmC has better combat and a better more coherent and useful story. Ive played and really love the original devil may cry games, but the new one is great. We will all have the memories of the moments from the first 3 (4, which I liked also) but theres no reason really to hate the new DmC. Combat is awesome and fun, story was good.. Yeah.
Finally someone with common sense. (But i don't like the new Vergil)
I agree. It a great game. I don't see why there is so much hate for it.
how s dmc better combat? dmc 3 - 4 best combat
the new dmc combat is too simple
Pierluigi Razzino the enemies are simple, not combat
DmC combat is simple that everyone thinks they're pro at it..the old DMC you have to practice to be good at it
DmC did vergil pretty well. thanks SamD
***** And he's much better in DmC then in DMC3. But DMC4 has still the best combat. :)
Classic Vergil
- can beat classic Dante
- great endurance. fought Arkham, Dante and Mundus in one go, although he lost to Mundus in the end
- is just straight badass that words are not enough to describe him
- does not depend on anyone, usually by himself
- calm and cool, regardless of the situation
- can taunt (This is a big deal)
- more flashy moves. the spinning he does in the air with Yamato was actually better in DMC 4 than in DmC.
- smart but does not need to be a hell lot genius. just cuts everything down
- but that Judgement Cut End tho
DmC Vergil
- never shown to be able to beat Dante
- what the fuck man, a single sword stab hurts him to near death? Cmon, Angel+Demon hybrid should be more enduring than Human+Demon hybrid
- cool sheathing animations, but not enough to be as badass as the old one
- depends the work to Dante and a gothic/emo girl
- damn, he gotta improve his cool in this one.
- more powerful moves though imo (He has Atomic, Solar Flare and Perfect Slice. Perfect Slice > Judgement Cut in DMC 3 & 4 bec of Invurnerability frames and larger radius. This Vergil lacked Heavy Rain Swords and taunts but he's straight out doing great for only using one weapon)
- can Demon Pull stuff using SS
- 2 is better than one.
Reboot is a shit.
wiseguy240 Winston its original Devil may cry okay! of course Dante and Vergil healing factors are crazy and ridiculous, but that what Devil may cry is. for me tho..
Is really awesome that the latest game they put all of his move in one weapon, is so badass in my opinion.
Original Vergil no contest you see that stylish hair you can’t beat that
Like the others said, damn good effort! And I know I'll get shot down for saying this but I find the DmC Vergil more fun and badass to play than the regular one. Still love both of them though.
Honestly I like the new Vergil better, he is quicker he has a lot more moves in his disposal, and he seems to be more graceful....personality wise however is another story, old Vergil has got it and his voice is ten times better....new Vergil is a pussy
you've got to be kidding me. the new vergil moves more graceful?
yes, his moves have a touch of class on them, I mean so does the original but it doest show too much
MrViral20 Vergil has never been about showing off, that's dante ground with vergil has been about if he draw the sword than you are dead no explosion no fancy light coming out of the sword just the flash of the blade cutting trough you :)
Pierluigi Razzino
Jup, seeing as when Dante & Nero are using Yamato they become really flashy.
At least Nero, since he starts glowing all blue :D
old vergil was cheesy as fuck tho LMAO
+Sam D Examples of classic rapid slash:

You can't play as Vergil in DMCV (only with mods, though).
DaffierNine not anymore
@@FrostshadowStudios0310 vergil: im coming hold my yamato
It's like a trunk crush into you
faster ?
XD
dmc3 vergil is faster
ruclips.net/video/YG_UFX6fqFk/видео.html
Crusader Saki You don't feel that when you're the one playing. You feel like all of DmC Vergil's slashes would kill an armoured elephant.
he forgot to add vergil's multi judgement cut..but I think it's in the DT form (DMC3)..
Dmc4 and 5 took inspiration from the reboot moveset to some extent
The transition from DmC Dante to DmC Vergil was so strange. Dante has a huge focus on flashy, fast-paced combos that over-power your enemies before they get the chance to strike; but with Vergil you needed to plot slower, more methodical movements ahead of time that involved the enemy coming to you . It took me an entire playthrough just to get used to it.
Oh what I'd give to see the old Vergil use those new attacks - with his proper style, of course.
If u say what animation is better, then its dmc but if ur talking about whose faster and strong i say devil may cry 3
Cant wait for dmc5 comparisons lol
I sense a huge insecurity of favoritism for either characters.
I like them both, if anything, the DMC reboot is i'ts Devil May Cry and deserves to be its own I.P next to the Original Devil May Cry.
fun fact: they were both voiced by power rangers.
I prefer DMC 3 Vergil as the very tight movement fits his persona, as he has perfected the Yamato and doesn't need the extra movement, and tbh for those saying that the new Vergil's attacks are much cooler, what do you expect when there is such a large year gap inbetween the two
+Dabear2567 I like how in DMC 3 Vergil uses his broadsword like a katana it makes sense because he's more comfortable with katana's but it looks kinda awkward as well
+Xhyher Cypher there are parts where it looks like both, like the stinger or round trip.
DMC3 virgil is in a class by itself when it comes to badassness.
Facts
DMC5 Vergil is way more versatile, speedier, etc. (well, the Vergil's Downfall Vergil is) combining the Angel Sunmon Swords you are literally the 4th Hokage. Trust me, this is coming from a guy who bought DMC3 when it first came out on PS2
Good joke. Tell me another
Thats funny. The only thing is that the attacks look smoother and that's because its the PS3 vs PS2......plus it only looks faster because DMC3 Vergil was about style and did his combos with a flare, much like DMC3 Dante.
Sounds like another person who has never played Vergil's Downfall. bet you own the First Nntendo Wii, and nothing else (no disrespect)
Ryan Powell I've played Vergil's Downfall, and was that supposed to be funny?
Aint nobody got time for dat
Vergil in the new DmC basically reminded me of Loki in the marvel movies. Especially Vergils downfall which really highlighted his hunger for power and how he felt betrayed.
Thanks for watching. This was just a comparison of how they brought back similar moves I love both games.
They actually even brought back downward slash, I just hadn't figured it out at the time of this video.
Are you going to make a similar video with dante? Also from what I've seen the new dante's moves looks like a mix between classic dante and nero.
I intend to, I've just been really really busy moving, new job, Dark souls 2 (:P), etc
oh, okay
I love both of them. My OOOOOONLY problem was that they made vergil the YOUNGER BROTHER in the new one. Other than that, I;m fine with both of them
younger brother ??.THEY ARE TWINS
but in the vergil's downfall, dante says he's the older brother! and then, in the DMC3 game, dante says "how about a kiss form your little brother"... maybe its one of those 5 minute /5 second things..
Foreignstar No, he said he was the bigger older only to taunt Vergil. Dante was top of the hill while Vergil was at the bottom.
Oh really?!?! huh!
YAAAAY!
The Force Edge Combo will forever look complicated and badass to me.
everyone knows that dmc 3 vergil is pwerful
DmC Vergil has some cool movements iI wouldn-t mind seeing incorporated into actual Vergils moveset (dunno if they did it in DMC4SE). All in all this proves once again the Vergil DLC is probably the best part of DmC in every sense.
DMC 3 is better then DMC
Of course it is. It's the second best action game just behind Bayonetta 2. That's still ain't saying DmC wasn't fucking awesome.
agreed
Freeze then dmc4 vergil came
*than
Ángel Alejandro its then idiot
Lunar phase is still one of my favorite moves out of all the devil may cry games
That move is just pure delicious awesomeness!
the combos added from DmC's vergil needed more tweaking due to the fact that vergil doesn't have many techniques and skills
but the main problem is why he isn't wearing the same clothes he had in dmc3se instead of this "Yellow layer" instead of the black clothes and red dragon breathe like in layer...
Great Comp!
Bruh this aged so well, dmc5 and everything
Emm... Didn't you play as Vergil in DMC 5?
@@КонстантинПаршуков-о6б Yeah, I haven’t gotten all of his moves yet.
Old Dante!
What does he have to do with this video?
He pwns Vergil :)
Naaah, Vergil's stronger. Anyway, this is a Vergil comparison video, so your comment is just... totally out of place.
And U totally waste my time..And U totally don't know about Devil May Cry...
RenoS DSR I know Devil May Cry pretty well, actually -.-
DmC Vergil's Downfall - VMD - Mission 5 "Own Shadow" Vergil Must Die SSS No Damage (20% Turbo) If you guys liked this video, check out my DMC3 Dante vs DMC3 Vergil Boss Video.
everybody can do that on this crap, its just too easy, i took damage about 3 times in Dante must die and Vergil must die, the original dmc was a little bit hard at least, DMC 3 Hard equal with "dmc devil may cry" Dante Must Die

Tóth Richárd Not gonna lie, you being a pharmacy employee does explain why you're so mad.
Here are some reasons I believe DMC has more potential than the previous devil may cry series:
1) the origin story can lead to what DMC 3 was. Because the rebooted version is before Vergil becomes evil so it makes sense to make the sequel based on what DMC 3 was.
2) Dante's look: At the end Dante's hair becomes white so they can bring back the old look without any problem... After all it's just hair -.-
3) the combat system and the environment interaction is so much better (remember that I'm a fan of the series and I've played every game so I know what I'm talking).
I'm done.
" the cheesiness, the exaggerated stylized action sequences and lame script just doesn't work anymore it was cool back then but now it getting old."
Tell that to Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2.
That legit I really enjoyed watching
I miss the upper slash + downward slash of DMC3 Vergil
It feel very powerful and badass.
Nice job :3
I know it’s a little thing and it was “fixed” in the definitive version, but the lack of lock on really fucks us all the inputs in DmC:Devil May Cry
Original vergil's Yamato combo is only 3 hits
New Virgil combines the animations from the force edge combo and instead uses it on only Yamato
Is anyone going to talk about how everybody talks shit about DmC Vergil’s moveset, but they don’t realize that DMC5 Vergil basically has the same moveset? XD
?
No?
They know, and they hate it, so they try to write it off as saying they got it from elsewhere
@@l3abol_uci191 it is. the adoptation goes like this, DmC -> DMC4SE -> DMC5SE. they expand vergil's moveset because it was lacking in DMC3.
Exactly!! Lol the new game is literally biting off DmC yet everybody thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
"Volcano", is not actually a unique move to DmC, as Vergil has a move with the same name and functionality using Beowulf in his second boss fight. It's the one where he punches the ground and releases a shock wave while saying "Rest in peace". Not sure if it's available to him as a playable character though.
Nope playable Vergil doesn't have it, but Dante has the move I believe.
That's not a hitbox (i think) and its him switching weapons
I find DMC3 Vergil more composted and stylish than in DmC say what you want about the new vergil and stuff heck even bash me for being rude at the reboot one but he doesn't come not even close to the original Vergil.
try dmc 4 se
So you can play Virgil in Devil May Cry 3? Cool. Looking forward to playing the HD collection. However I still want to try Virgil in DMC.
Judgement Cut looks good no matter which game it's in it seems. ^_^
I really can´t see why people hate this vergil so much, it doesn´t make any sense, it has more moves and it has more variety, doesn´t that what players wanted?, people doesn´t know what they want anymore.
vergil in DMC4SE is fucking AWESOME!!!!!!!!
DMC4SE Vergil Vs DMCDE Vergil I think you should make this video. It would be cool to see the differences! Especially if you turn the turbo on for both games!
beowulf rules...lunnar phase destroy anything... dmc3 the best...
I must say I prefer the new Vergil, his costume is better, and I like his attacks more. But the new Dante I don't like, the white hair was so cool in my opinion but then they changed to that black hair and now he just feels like a natural game protagonist.
Will admit some of DmC Vergil,s moves very good.
Can you do dmc3 vergil vs dmc4 se vergil comparison?
dmc3 Vergil is terrible compared to DMC4 Vergil
DMC4 is like.... 2 times faster?
Vergil from DMC4 Special Edition took a lot of moves from DmC Devil May Cry Vergil. Wish there was a comparison for those movesets
anyone notice that DmC vergil and dmc4se vergil have some similar animations like losing kneeling after rapid slash, JC graphics being similar,
New vergil's moveset looks much nicer than the old one, haven't played it so i can't judge whether it plays as good
The old vergil was a better character since he played the villain role very well and was very respectable
Now make a versus with the craziest combos for both to see who wins.
dmc 3 vergil's voice when inputting moves is awesome!!!!!
Will always love original over new but new Vergil ain't so bad wish though they gave him a better voice actor in DmC but glad to see classic Vergil returning in dmc4 special edition.
for those who might not know DMC4SE Vergil adopted DmC Vergil's movement's to a certain extent with faster attacks and teleportation
Le Chain what exactly were those attacks?
DmC Rapid Slash: *SLASHING NOISE*
DMC3: sChum
I never notice how the Vergil in Dmc puts his sword away behind his back.
If you look close DmC'S yamato clips through the scabbard
