I love how the angel mode has cool moves that's named after stuff in space and then in demon mode you just have a move called "Divorce"
Lol jokes aside in Islamic bible, the highest rank of demon is that the ones who can make married couples divorce
The rest is basically named after volcanic eruptions and explosions.
And then, we have Killer Bee and Drive.

That's the one thing I dig about this games Dante and Vergil. When it comes to their swords, the rebellion takes on a different form of the power, while the Yamato, just channels the energy of it.
Personally, I think Rebellion is an actual devil arm whereas the Yamato is an actual, man-made katana.

At least he knows how to hold a god-damned katana, the fact that since dmc3 they made Vergil hold the fucking sword wrong is unspeakable and the shit version know how to use and have very accurate move set and sheathed different in a lot of moves
@@magicgirlwithvodka7434I feel having the blade pointed downwards while sheathed is more advantageous since there would be less movement needed when it comes to upward slashes.

Vergins moveset summed up pretty much
I surprisingly liked the slower moveset this Vergil has. Like this Vergil lacks the finesse of the original and instead resorts to pure brutal force with primodorial swordplay. Very fitting given his character in the reboot.

As much as people like to crap on this game for its bad voice acting & ludicrous story, you gotta admit that the game had some good ideas.
The Angel & Demon mode mechanic was interesting & some of the level design was made with that mechanic in mind.
The whole of DmC’s underworld being within Limbo is also interesting, kinda reminds me of how in Bayonetta you can only see Angels & Demon within Purgatorio.
Hell, some of Reboot Vergil’s moves were given to main timeline, aka the original version of Vergil.
& when it comes to Devil May Cry as a whole, you can never go wrong with a fight between Vergil & Dante.
Not to mention the Vergil fight in 5 was basically ported from this game too
Less "ported" and more of a slightly based on type of thing. The fight in 5 was heavily based on DMC3's 1st and last Vergil fight in DMD. On top of a towering structure, Vergil only using Yamato and his DT(SDT in 5), Vergil spamming Helm Breaker and JC etc. The only stuff that's taken from DmC:Devil May Cry's Vergil vs Dante is the moves, but those moves are also taken from other characters in DMC4, with Doppleganger, Divorce, Flare and Rising Star are the only original moves presented.
Devil May Cry is more like an anime
And Dmc is more like a Netflix adaptation

One move that looks pretty good to me is flare. The thing about this Vergil's moveset is that the after effects look a little limp, the actual hits dont seem to have much impact, and the re-sheathing seems too robotic. Animations just seem a little off overall
Then again, this was in 2013

@@THEBOYS-gi9ru DMC3 Vergil looks and sounds much better. The windup and follow through of most of his attacks in DmC are pretty much non-existent, which makes things like the sheathing look "robotic" as OP has put it. Some of his attacks actually look pretty neat, like divorce, killer bee, or orbit, but the principles of animation have been known for a century now, there is no excuse for having a vast majority of his moveset look so stilted.

Dmc4SE vergil looks much better. This was a rushed free DLC job, you can't expect too much.
That said I think it is pretty cool how you can see a good amount of DMC4 and 5 vergil in here, perfect timed moves are rewarded, doppelganger from DMC5 started here, Rising Star came from this game. It's a neat piece of legacy and Vergil still plays okay in this game.

Of course he'll be unmotivated, he doesn't have that much power like original Vergil. The thing is, the DLC is Vergil's path to becoming the Vergil most people know, to obtain that motivation.
At least, that's how I understand it.
He still doesn't become Vergil we know. OG Vergil is honorable, he hates demons. He tries to obtain full demon power not to rule, but to protect ones dear to him. Reboot Vergil gains his power to become second Mundus and he has no honor at all.

But knowing that this is an alternate universe, something tells me that Force Edge isn't going to be a weapon Sparda used to own/wield.

Pretty neat Devil May Cry 5 took the idea of Vergil being able to summon a doppelganger from this game.
doppelganger was introduced in DMC3

But when I look at DmC DLC Vergil, Vergil looks good with doppelganger.
No wonder the developers adding doppelganger for DMC5 Vergil. It's fit for him to have that.

BUT!!! Reused moves from reboot look much more motivated and powerful in OG DMC than here!

They took most of these moves from previous playable characters in the original tho.
This Judgement Cut makes me cry with how unmotivated it is.

Vergilio have the sensation of actually slicing and cutting with his attacks.
Vergil smacks and slams with his sword. Like his weapons does not have a blade.

If I have to guess why, I'd say it's because of the meatier sound effects and slight camera shake whenever he does an attack.
True, Yet for some reason it feel like Vergilion just does small cuts to his enemies while Vergil actually slice them in two.
Was it because of the VFX? Or the sound design? Or both? Since animation wise they seem kinda familiar (Vergilion look a bit robotic but his attack are as solid as Vergil)
I do it because my enemy is lack of motivation beside it will be to easy for me if i start combo with my blade instead of my sheath
honestly i like the idea of having 3 different yamato movesets rather than giving vergil multiple devil arms outright
in dmc we always see vergil using the yamato only most of the time with exceptions like in dmc3 where he will switch between beowulf and yamato in the second fight, and same with force edge and yamato, but in dmc5 its all yamato
however when you play as vergil by the rules of stylishness and for each situation you will use a bunch of weapons, specially in dmc3 where the yamato was more of a weapon you used in short bursts rather than a main one
i think it would be neat if vergil was playable in dmc6 with a mainline-ified version of angel, neutral and demon modes (could name it after sword stances but im not knowledgeable on that topic) and have this also apply to beowulf (like say, a stance where beowulf behaves as it does in dmc1 and another where it works like dmc3 vergil's with rising star and the chargeless combos as a neat callback)
though yamato demon mode here is actually closer to dmc1 ifrit which is pretty cool actually
like the potential this moveset idea had was pretty cool but not done very well here since this DLC was rushed but would be interesting if a new dmc game revisited ideas, we already have DMC4/5SE giving vergil slow samurai cuts with the yamato while in DT, what if that was a style for the yamato focused on slow cuts, and then a neutral style thats just the usual vergil, and a style with things like the yamato stinger and roundtrip as a force edge replacement

Bro this is an adaptation and reimagination of the original Vergil im glad with the changes they did. Its sad how this game ended.

Boss Vergil had Dimension Cut (Or JC End) but Player Vergil doesn't (until 4SE and 5SE).

Remember these ability vids are 5 to 10 mins long while in dmc5 Dante’s is literally like 30mins and long for the others too
Gameplay is unique. I like his moveset and how different it is. Angel and Demon mode was pretty cool and adds to the playstyle. Kinda wish he had more than just Yamato but game was heavily scrutinized. Wish we got a bit more.
Yes this version is slower than the Vergil we know and love but the thumbnail outfit has to be one of my favorites of his fashion

I don't know what it is, but I don't feel the Power within those attacks. They don't sound powerful and you feel like you're not even hurting the enemy. It's kind of a bummer

1:31 I think this move is called "Flair" not "Flare".
Tbh the moveset wasn't the problem, heck they're actually good, but the problem lies in the animation it just feels lackluster, i mean the animation for sheathing the sword did not align well and arm looks off angle at times, but like i said some moves should've been in dmc5 when polished could be more moves that we can use, idk maybe dmc6 they'll bring 1 or 2 moves from this

for anyone considering playing this dlc don’t. i actually really like the main campaign in DmC but in this dlc there are two bosses (both are awful), and all missions feel the exact same, unlike the campaign which was super creative. vergil’s moveset is pretty okay tho, but nowhere near as good as that of dante

Vergil's Downfall has more content that whatever SE you have ever played.
DMC 4 and 5 SE are literally the same game with another character and some cutscenes. Vergil's Downfall is something Capcom has never done: An exclusive adventure for Vergil.
You will never see a separate campaign for Vergil in DMC franchise.
