Observation:the reboot has a lot less omph than DMC4. The slashes feel slower and more lacking overall compared to the swift slashes and more ferocity in DMC4. Even the sound effect for trick actions sounds more like quick dashing (and looks like it too) than actual teleporting.
*Facepalm that's because Vergil DMC4 actually came *After* DmC. Not before. In the original DMC4 2008, Vergil doesn't exist. DMC4SE 2014 was released in response to angry fans. And Vergil was added after most of the movesets was imported from DMC3

DMC reboot is a good game, its just that we already have the image of dante and vergil. If they made it in different title and different character name it would've been around 7/10 or even more. Gameplay wise 10/10
I still don't know what is the main reason why people doesn't like DMC Devil May Cry very much. It looks nice, the sounds it has are nice, the combat feels amazing, both design of Dante and Vergil looks amazing, they added moves that needed extreme timing to make it even more powerful like Judgement Cut, and DMC Vergil can both Air Trick himself and the enemies to him.
They took away options for accessibility sake like replacing the concept of styles (not style switching) and replacing it with a single button launcher. Weapon switching is also extremely streamlined. In the other games they were for style and maybe optimizing damage via elements. But in DmC you kind of have to use Weapon Switching. No longer were weapons unique arsenals now just a piece of your basic combo kit. Look at Vergil. In DMC3 he had 3 unique weapons with their own styles and learning curves. But in DmC it's just Yamato Heavy Slash and Quick Slash overlaying what should be DmCs primary focus which is weapon switching. But they could hardly put up the facade long enough. Dantes Demon Weapons being heavy attack and angel weapons being fast attacks. All of the attacks do big aoe damage or vacuums them in from across the room. There's a myriad of nuances I can go into like losing characters. We lost Trish, Lady, and Nero. All are beloved characters with their own unique playstyles. Reboot also made no sense timing wise. DMC3 was the definitive action game experience for a while. DMC4 was rushed but still showed promises for the future of the series with the new Style Switching Dante got. Then they took all those years of evolution and try to boil it down to a few key moves. Weapon Switching is cool but it was never the primary focus just something you can develop into as you as a player got better. But DmC made it so everybody has to do it. With such a heavy emphasis on weapon switching and how they made weapons strengths basically do everything made DT extremely boring. All they could think of was freezing the enemy. Then because of the change of DT they took out Taunting.Taunting was there for DT but since it's so much stronger they couldn't make Taunt work the same without it being pointless or overpowered. So they took it out completely rather than think of interesting ways to spend your meter like in any other DMC game. I's not cool when DMC1 has a more complex Devil Trigger than DmC. Hell even DMC2 has a more interesting Devil Trigger. That's saying a lot.
@@tylercafe1260 I will agree on that taunting part. I don't usually taunt but it is cool that you get to taunt in different ways based on your style rank.
Many things, but the main things are the developers insulting both the fandom and franchise thinking their version of the two main characters(and overall story) are superior, the fact that in launch, this game was a buggy mess that had no lock-on button and color-coded enemies. The sounds are good but the voice acting for the attacks are terrible. Good gameplay but the character design for Dante is dogshit, with Dante looking like your average emo kid who has demon and angel powers, and Vergil is cool, but the fedora and abortion just makes him look and feel terrible. The weapon designs are good except for their version of the Yamato, which looks like a dollar store katana. Judgment Cut was already in DMC3, which was WAY before the development of this asscrack even started. They only added Perfect Judgment Cut. DmC Vergil's grab Airtrick is merely just a reskin to Dante's pull, which was pulled from Nero in DMC4. And don't even get me started on it STORY. Ninja Theory had quite the nerve to say that this was better than any DMC game that had been released, when it doesn't even surpass DMC4's quality, which is second to both DMC3 and DMC5. All it had was good gameplay and good graphics(and cool new difficulties), literally nothing noteworthy about the story or character design.
@@tylercafe1260 Good grief, this blob of text. Paragraph breaks, people As for DMC3 Vergil to DmC Vergil, no. Yes, in DMC3, he had more weapons, but they all had _very_ limited movesets in comparison. As a matter of fact, his Darkslayer "style" is functionally pointless as you don't even get style points for actually using its unique Style action. This is all still ignoring that DmC Vergil's DT benefits from having a second character mimic his attacks for increased damage, not to mention actually having different modes for itwhereas DMC3 Vergil's was simply just a power boost You "lost" Trish, Lady and Nero because this isn't that game and the first two weren't even playable in the original version of DMC4 The emphasis on switching weapons was only in the original version of DmC where enemies were color-coded for you to swap between Demon and Angel weapons. That was removed in the Definitive Edition.

It is genuinely impressive how much they managed to fuck up Vergil, not just in lore but also in gameplay, in DmC. There is absolutely no sense of speed or strength, the sounds are lackluster and the VFX is incredibly weak, and all of it combined makes you feel as if you're swinging a wet noodle. The only notable thing about DmC's side is that the animations are smooth, but they're so smooth that it is actually a detriment in this case. Thankfully, DmC is dead for good and we can instead have proper enhancements to the already great gameplay of DMC.
