      A big reason is because Nvidia has a much fuller software stack than either AMD or Intel. In particular, Nvidia has CUDA. There are many software applications (such as Blender, for one) that are CUDA accelerated and thus basically require Nvidia hardware to run the best it can. This is somewhat of a vendor lock for many people who use such applications, but if all you do is game with your GPU then the choices you have are a little more varied.

While some people may be fine with that, I run my systems for 50+ days at a time between reboots for OS and driver updates, I don't appreciate random crashes. man. I love your videos.
    for a better sound quality, you don't have to buy the most expensive mic. instead, you must, by all means, control your room acoustics.
    a simple solution: get some thicker curtains and rugs. the thicker the better. you can use some dark thick fabrics like winter blankets or quilts, anything that you can use as a damper to avoid sound reflection or any aberrations in your acoustics.
    use furniture with a lot of foamy and fabric cushion and some big pillows, made an indirect bass traps with a plastic container filled with foam or some fabric and a hole in the cover, put it on a corner and see results.
    or build some hanging deflectors and sound absorbers, (a lot aesthetic than pillows and curtains made from winter quilts)
    man, I wish you the best for you family and team. ...live longer and prosper 🖖

    I'm really looking forward to Intel next generation CPU, especially Arrow Lake, but I think they have an uphill battle when it comes to computing with AMD from now on. If Intel only ties or just barely beats Zen 5, any prudent person is going to go for AMD without thinking twice. Right now AMD is positioned to gain a lot of market if Ryzen 9000 is simply decent instead of great.

    • @MichaelDeHaven

      Yeah, I think this is gonna help AMD grow in the server space. I'm aware it doesn't seem to affect their Xeons. But how they are handling this will likely shake loose some more corporate customers from Intel.
      I really don't know how much it'll affect the consumer market. Of course a lot of us will be a little wary but will it break thru to normal consumers. I doubt it, unless it gets worse. Any change there likely depends on how the system builders feel.
      Hopefully Intel stops sandbagging and proactively addresses this. We need good strong competition to keep innovation going and prices down. So many seem convinced Intel is doomed, but I don't see it.

    16:21 Intel's already talked about what? They've just admitted that there was an oxidation issues but Intel still sold the CPUs with that issue. Besides the admittance of the oxidation issue, what have they done? They haven't released any way for consumers to verify if your CPU was part of the batch of the CPUs that suffers from this issue, which is the least that they can do. They haven't guaranteed RMAs for any of the stability issues including the oxidation issue. The reason it is very important that they release a way to verify the oxidation problem is because you could RMA a chip and they could just send back to you another chip that also had the oxidation problem. Also, "it just affects 13th gen, not 14th gen" is not a good enough excuse, since I'm pretty sure many more people bought up 13th gen CPUs rather than 14th gen as the 14th gen refresh didn't provide any improvements to performance and by the time that they were released, 13th gen was already much cheaper and provided better price-to-performance. Stop giving excuses for Intel.

    • @drewnewby
      @drewnewby 2 месяца назад

      He's not giving excuses for Intel. It's better to focus on the architectural defect in 13600K and up and 14th gen, than have it convoluted with one of the many one off fab defects that happen all the time. If you somehow think your CPU is only affected by the oxidation defect, call Intel. If you think it's the far, far more serious defect that matters financially to Intel, hold your breathe. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

    • @Dhruv-qw7jf
      @Dhruv-qw7jf 2 месяца назад +1

      @@drewnewby what the heck are you even talking about? How is it better when I have no idea if my CPU is affected by the oxidation issue or not? Why shouldn't Intel release a way for consumers to find it out by themselves by releasing a list of affected batch numbers or something. "If you think your CPU is affected by the oxidation issue" yeah how exactly would I know that? How exactly does that manifest itself differently than the general stability issues of 13th/14th gen CPUs. I don't really have a microscope at home. They're clearly trying to downplay all the problems that are happening with their chips and it benefits no one but the corporation, if you keep siding with Intel corporation on this one.

    • @drewnewby
      @drewnewby 2 месяца назад

      @Dhruv-qw7jf No one is siding with Intel. You're spazzing over the wrong issue. The last Intel chip I bought was Sandy Bridge, the last one I run today is a 8086K they sent me. I stopped build Intel for customers at 12th gen. If you're so focused on the oxidation, look at your die and call Intel. From your other replies, you sound like your real concern is flipping chips and knowing which batches to buy, or whether you can still flip yours for more.

    • @Dhruv-qw7jf
      @Dhruv-qw7jf 2 месяца назад

      @@drewnewby bro this is literally my first PC build since 2015, so no, I was not planning on doing PC components, I just found out that's a thing that people do a little while ago so it's used value has obviously degraded. I usually build a good enough PC and then use it to the ground, like I did with my i3-3220, which is still running fine in my old PC btw. My biggest concern is that the 13600K, I bought it in April, and it has the manufacturing date of August 2023, and it will maybe not even last for half as long as my old i3-3220. And as far as "look at your die and call Intel", you're really going to go as far as saying that, and then claim that you're not defending Intel? That's shilling at its worst. I still don't get why you're opposed to the idea of giving some indicator to consumers of finding if their chips are affected by the oxidation issue. It means that people currently affected by it can find out if they are affected by this specific oxidation issue and it also means that Intel can't just RMA you another CPU that is affected by this issue as it can be easily identified.

    The responses to the question about the resale value of the Intel CPUs are way off. The problem is that the damage is permanent making these CPUs even at lower clocks likely to have much shorter life span than other CPUs and that you have no way of knowing how much degradation has occurred on any given CPU. Combine that with the perception from these issues and you end up with significantly lower resale value and potentially a significantly worse experience for a second owner.

It takes away the peacefulness and conciseness last recording room had. If you still want to record in this room, I recommend some sound dampening equipment eg I think foam. Disclaimer this advice should be taken with a grain of salt, because it is based only what I have seen others do on yt. Do your own research!

    Regarding the Intel issue I've actually seen more reviewers saying that they can't or won't recommend 13th or 14th gen processors at the moment. I've also seen some say that AMD isn't perfect as well but as far as the current moment they are more stable and reliable. I don't think I've seen anyone recommend the processors ever since this issue started happening.

    You totally missed the point of "Would you buy a used 14900K?". Your answer that sure you would if the price drops to $100 makes the poster's point. A person who owns a 14900K is going to get MUCH less than they should if they want to sell and upgrade to say 15th gen. While some larger outfits might be able to create a "Certified Used" brand that tests and warranties used CPUs, most individuals trying to sell on eBay are going to get much less than they would without the debacle.

    Simply put we dont want competition going away. If Intel fixes the current problems and comes out of their issues, it is only good for us consumers. Been an AMD buyer for 3 generations including their GPU, but these companies are not our friends. Without competition AMD will absolutely go ape on us. They will always please their stock holders first. That is the nature of business today. Look at Nvidia.
