If some insane nutcase actually does all jobs to 75 without dying once, that would have to be in the running for one of the most insane achievements in the history of gaming. There is no way you could do that playing with randoms. You'd need a dedicated squad of capped players protecting you from everything, warp scrolls, non party healing, etc
I'm 3 jobs deep into hardcore ATM with over 300+ hours of playtime I'm duoing with my gf and it's not that bad the community is really helpful and cheery it's hard and at times stressful not to mention slow as hell but not some insane challenge.
This was a feature in one of the WOW private server that I played on. And they can only party with other Hardcore players. So no power leveling. They also announced in the server if you die. 😅
I worry that this mode may make some people more toxic. Like forcing players to die for them if an exp party goes awry, or griefing players that doesn't do so. This could also make some things like pulling mobs to PK players more prevalent.
I had a hardcore mode suggestion for when I was playing the private servers. It was essentially if you die, you had a 5 minute grace period and if you are not revived you character is ded and deleted and have to start again. Would make WHM and jobs that can raise important and OP and create a server wide ambulance network that can be utilised to revive people.
I like that idea. That’s really hardcore to lose the playability of the character. Like in Diablo’s hardcore mode. My opinion would be to leave the timer at the usual 60 minutes. And when the timer expires, instead of home-pointing, you’re dead for good.
@@nicholasbullock1709 I can only imagine it would make the ffxi Drama llama more of a spicy meatball with actual consequences. LSs at ground kings/hnms/etc competing by attempting to MPK/ignore danger towards people attempting to revive their LS mates with the relics. Would defo make for more engaging and dramatic gameplay. It can work both ways also. Would be quite funny tbh. xD Imagine getting the server message "LS leader of Endgame LS #1 is kill." xD

Hardcore Mode is such a stupid idea. It's going to add so much friction to the community, so much salt when an R0 happens at a bad time, so much bad blood between players. For the small amount of fun some folks are going to have with this, I'm willing to bet it's going to poison the whole server. This announcement made me so upset.
@@FFXIgwyn But it costs nothing to opt-in, so every player is going to get it at the start. Hardcore players are going to call everyone else trolls and try to get everyone banned. I can already see White Mages not curing because they thought a fight looked dangerous and didn't want to risk getting on a monster's hate list, or Black Mages warping out, or Paladins pretending to be AFK. People are going to be so salty if the server pukes for a second and causes them to disconnect. It's going to cause nothing but friction and toxicity in the playerbase. For the small amount of potential fun that's going to be brought on by this mode, it's going to turn the community into WoW levels of toxic.
I just miss adventuring with friends and an economy that worked for all players, new and old. As much as I love the idea of investing my time on this, the game isn't really theirs to distribute is it? They say they're not breaking any rules by accepting zero donations or financial support, but offering a free way to play a subscription-based game that may pull paying customers away from the retail version has the potential to attract some unwanted attention. It would be nice to see an official classic server, or a few of those game-breaking elements in play go away. I'd start by bringing back features that promoted the need to rely on other players as you progress through the game's content, working together. The last 15 years playing XI on and off has been a really positive experience for me personally. You subconsciously admire the people stronger/better than you, even in a game, and pursue a path that would put you in a position to help other people too, passing on that good karma. That for me, made the game great. Has anyone tried playing retail XI as a new player? It's just not the same.
Ultimately the client is provided freely by SE and is unmodified by the team. Everything server side is written by people over many years and can only approximate what SE's servers do.
This will never happen. If you leave the game to era difficulty, no one will survive certain battlefields. The other intricacies, i won't even touch on... no one ever has thought of a hardcore mode, cause anyone that has played the game in 75 era knows you won't last long...
Imagine how toxic this mode is.. Party in danger? Everyone warp or run away cursing on each other if someone die and lose the status. None will want to tank. Its same crap as making relic 15 years ago when 20 people were working for one character, because if everyone would try keep hardcore status it would be almost impossible to play and people will be massively toxic and nervous or people will just use PLing to keep their chars alive. Lets not even start with troll WHMs who would "forget" to cast cure or need to emergency afk after pull.
I agree the dynamic between HC and non-HC will be strange. People who play these modes in other games are used to that though, it typically comes with a solo grindset.
hey idk if you know this channel, but I was a W3 clear leader for close to two years, and did both V15 and V20 when they were released (currently working through v25)
Not a good game mode in my opinion. If negates game mechanics such as raise spells, tractor and raise items. There are some missions and events where a death is part of the strategy. Plus, you don’t even get to keep the items you’ve earned when you die.
I think i figured out what makes 75 era more appealing to me, please correct me if i'm wrong. But.. retail has no competitive content at all, does it? All the endgame is isolated to your own group. It feels like an online multiplayer rather than MMO to me from what retail endgame i've experienced (not much). I also just prefer the 75 era combat. I'm also worried that hardcore mode will just suck though. There is so much out of your control and other people may try to get you killed on purpose. So many people take joy in ruining other people's days.
@@CallMekwech yea, like NM claims, there was a bit of competition. Sky / sea too. You could watch others fight as well, root for the mob or the group. Even exping you could have a bit of competition seeing who can push more dmg. Not really sure how anyone thinks a hardcore style mode would ever work in an online game setting. Online games, especially MMOs have WAY too many variables outside of your control to make it legitimate in any way. This is just gonna cause people to play very anti-MMO.
