Yes! Your instructions are the best. It's a blessing for weekend golfers to have found an instructor that don't hold back any secrets. Why do I feel like my local PGA coaches holding back secrets ??? Thank you !!! You're simply the best and the kindest !!
Starting watching your videos about a year ago.. been working on increasing driver distance and striking better iron shots. This video has been the best for hitting better irons. And.. I used to be the 'short sister' in my group... now I am out driving all of my playing partners. Tracking more pars.. but better yet... fewer doubles! Thanks Christina!!!
Thank you x3, Christina! I have taken lessons for years from a trusted teacher who kept correcting my hands to keep tight wrists until just into and after the thigh. I could never manage this. Conversely, when I just swung away, my best shots were when I felt what you describe. I am reminded that Jack Nicklaus said "the release begins at the top." Care to comment? BTW: you have a knack for good clear words accompanied by clear visual images to define things that can only really be felt.
Thanks for the tip I was struggling I On the Front nine yesterday on the back I was started fast hands had five pars love your tips and listening to your voice
This is incredibly helpful for those of us who drag the club afraid of casting and eliminating lag. Wonder if you would consider doing some tips directed towards senior citizens with limited flexibility.
Really, really like your instruction. Have just started watching your videos and am now making my way through them all. Some really excellent tips and drills. Thanks.
Christina, you are the BEST!! What a KEY thought to get quick hands, most of us swing from all the way back to the finish, there is NO speed. The absolute description of speed. Thank YOU!!
IM compressing the ball much better today at 56 than I ever have and I can play 36 holes with back aches in morning. Neck, shoulders, arms and hand relaxed (1), posture (2) and making the 5 to 7 o’clock @woosh (3) are what I’m thinking about in practice setting. If I get out of sync I flip the club over and swing the handle, listening for the woosh at 5-7. Right elbow pinned to right chest, acceleration starts with gravity and increases with body turn. Makes 5 irons feel so much better than ever! Good luck all!
Christina, in your video about being too armsy, you are recommending a body turn. With this active release training, not sure how the body turn fits in. Can you address in a separate video how to do a body turn and also use an active release?
Hello Christina I am a beginner and I tried your tips today and I really saw a big improvement, it's amazing. Your drills are really effective and easy to understand. Thank you so much I will keep on watching!
Was working this tip and and the one on hip rotation yesterday. The ball was going left and right until I realized I had to lighten my grip pressure to get the whip
Hi Christina. Sir Henry Cotton said the golf swing is 85 percent hands and 15 percent body. (He is the one that advocated hitting rubber tires.) He said the trail hand moves faster then the lead hand at impact to the ball as the lead hand opposes the trail hand. I tried his theory and found it very cool. What say you?
Just keep that right elbow pressed against your rib cage. It creates proper extension on your backswing, promotes a shoulder turn, keeps the left arm straight (eliminates left chicken wing) and produces a soft draw. Practice doing it without hitting balls until it becomes second nature.
I'd hook it off the planet releasing like this. I release the club through body rotation, not a conscious movement of the hands, which keeps the clubhead squarer through impact. But I've always had fast hands and the hook has always been my nemesis so this tip probably doesn't apply to players like me.
This is a great tip for more distance. But, maybe not so much for accuracy? I started doing this about 7 years ago and developed an unpredictable hook. So, I went back to a square, down the line, release. I would advise to practice this, but use the straight down the line release. Just make sure you extend your arms through impact. No chicken wing......
I am slow! Slow thinking, slow moving, slow, slow, slow and 6months of chemo made me slower but I hit the ball long for someone in their sixties.( driver 250+, 8 iron 150+etc.) You must learn how to develop a swing /move that matches your natural make up. All your theory is correct if the athlete is "wired" correctly for the concept. Many great players are arm and hand releasers, but for myself, this never was nor will be a repeatable swing option. Unfortunately, my swing development came late in life, basically after I lost my health. I wasted too many years trying to do things that were never repeatable for my talent. Golf is funny, once you develop repeatability, confidence comes with it. I thank Moe Norman for his insight on how to step outside the circle. Have fun and enjoy the challenge of this game that forces you to be yourself !!!
Should I try to fire the hips during this movement or is it just the arms and wrists doing the movement while keeping the left shoulder closed? Thank you!
I’ve been hitting right since I started golf a year ago. Doesn’t matter what grip I use. Teacher been telling me to hold the face quiet hands don’t use wrists. Maybe this is my solution. It’s so frustrating because I send them far but just right of target all the time haha
I tried today in golf course bu that is not true. I have to hold the hands longer than u said to the club . Otherwise, i hook and pull hooks the ball by flipping the wrist. Please make it clear to us.
vimal Mittal becaise you have over rotated hips or shoulder creating a reverse pivot. You cured over the top but in doing so blocked yourself and club is trapped behind. You have no choice but pull hook it.
Is that Marc or Jason Dufner?!!! I play the drums so I think I should be able to translate some of that speed into my golf swing however having the right technique is paramount. The dropping the hands and arms is huge for me..its the Ben Hogan secret I have been looking for!!!. I have been coming over the top by unwinding the left shoulder 1st for years and couldn't figure it out. This has crystalized that erroneous behaviour. Winter soon in Canada ..hope I remember all this next spring. will have to watch your videos during the winter or take a trip south!! Thanks for the tips!!!
Good instruction. Just gotta watch out that the golfers who follow this thigh to thigh that they don't remain square when doing this. Hooks will be common. As long as the left shoulder keeps going around. They will see you doing the thigh to thigh but don't see your left shoulder moving around and out of the way. Cheers.
My problem this season has been to fast of hands and PULL hooking it off the planet , the people where I play are tired of me hitting their houses ....LOL
Your hands maybe too high at impact. The higher your hands are at impact, the more the club head will roll over. Try and keep the club shaft/arm angle the same as address, by keeping your hands as low and close to the body as possible, at impact. This way you get more of the 'shutting the gate', sweeping motion, like Hogan, Sergio and Trevino, it also adds power due to additional leverage.

Good pointers you've mentioned (as well as others). Pin arms to your torso, turn your chest about your spine when rotating both in the back swing & the release (gets rid of chicken wings). Keep the body still - don't move your body backwards and don't move your body forwards. The weight shift occurs while your body remains in the same position. And, I would add one additional pointer - follow through. Golfers must get that trailing foot to spin - turn those butt cheeks and pivot up on the toes (balls) of the trailing foot. Weight on balls of lead foot and heel of trailing foot, then spin (rotate) with a solid follow through as you shift your weight maintaining the same position rotating about your spine. And, you are as awesome as hot apple pie!
Club doesn't turn over until way past impact. Saying to release early is wrong. Let it naturally do what the body has it do. Forearms will square club face up all by themselves.
Sure most amateurs need to release more but it should be as a result of a correct body turn. This tip is a recipe for heartbreak and low hooks. Learn how to turn correctly and the hands will take care of themselves.
Is it the same with Driver Christina? ❤ your accent

Really, really like your instruction. Have just started watching your videos and am now making my way through them all. Some really excellent tips and drills. Thanks.
Love the advice about staying connected to release the hands!

Another well explained tip. You are a great communicator , to the point really worth subscribing to your channel.
You help me a lot you are very clear with your good words
Awesome video ❤ I bet you hit your 7 150 yards with that swing Christina ?✨🏆⛳
Love this video! So true and I’m so glad you emphasize this move as it does produce effortless speed and consistent draws.

yep you are the best...its working for me thanks
This is excellent. I’ve noticed when I’ve done this with a half to three quarter swing, I hit it as far if not farther than my full swing.
Worth a try

Garth Downton good advice garth! also good on you for staying active post chemo... hitting the driver that far in your 60s is incredible 😄
Watching your videos, I have learned more about the swing than I ever knew, and I have taken lessons throughout the years.
HOw about tips on releasing longer clubs like driver and 3wood????????
I've been working on this, but for whatever dumb reason I'm not getting the weight shift I want. My body must be getting used to the change?
You drive me nuts .....in a good way too x
Should I try to fire the hips during this movement or is it just the arms and wrists doing the movement while keeping the left shoulder closed? Thank you!
Great question. I'll do a future tip on this. Short answer: Fire hips but feel chest closed.
Great lesson, great legs !

I’m hooking like crazy when I do this. Is that common? Thanks.
Yes typically because you are not rotating fully with the body.
@@MorePars That can’t be the problem. I will keep locking for the answer. Thanks.

That’s the way I learned. The big things seems to be the body release these days.

Cheers.
Will that same swing work with the driver
This is a great drill.
Do u have tp release right hip too?

Wear a different on then
Even if this doesn’t work, it looks like fun.
Wish i could hit the ball like you
The magic phrase: That's the key!!!

Make sure you are clearing your lead hip. Buckle to Target.
Lolol grip too strong? Strong grip+Out to in path would get you trajectorys around the globe!
Your hands maybe too high at impact.
The higher your hands are at impact, the more the club head will roll over.

Most professionals don't advocate manipulation in the golf swing it leads to inconsistency.
