I have applied this to every practice session and this has been fantastic! All your videos are amazing but this one improved my ball striking 300%!!!! Ball speed is up and accuracy as well! Can't thank you enough!
This used to be my main swing issue.. having hands that were dragging behind me in the downswing, which caused me to drop the club below plane and swing excessively in to out. Once I adopted the "hands beat the body to the ball" mindset as my main swing thought, my club path straightened out immediately, and my contact improved 100% because of just having more lag and a better path + attack angle, and way less partially fat shots.
I think this is the most important lesson I could’ve seen. Been golfing for a year and a half, my swing has gotten much more on plane as well as more fluid, but I feel like when I shallow the club my arms get stuck behind me way too often and I have no face control or power. Can’t wait to try this out! Thanks Prozak golf!
Exactly. I'm 71 and you taught me the value of fast hands in your back-to-the-target drill (Which I still use on the course - for now) and just thinking of fast hands makes everything else (the body and follow through) work for me. Thanks for this.
After implementing several improvements into my back swing and weight transfer/rotation over several months, I accidentally left my hands back at the starting line! Figured it out after finally using my Apple Watch again to track my swing and my hand speed had dropped from 17mph to occasionally as slow as 11mph!!! It was the last piece of the puzzle to re-implement, but I can't understate how important this was for me. Fixing and actually increasing my hand speed to over 18.5mph finally brought everything together and got me the consistency and distance I'd be chasing for years.
Amazing, this is sooo important information. Everywhere you hear that low body start the swing, I was focusing on this and leaving my hands behind, strugguling to get them in place and as reason my chest was on impact aiming towards the ball, not behind and my lag was released very early. I watched so many videos how to fully turn my chest so it is on impact behind ball open and this video resolved my issue immediatelly!
slow hands - just let your arms float - I just saw a video on youtube yesterday preaching this. Thanks for the real advice Porzak Golf! Great Channel - focused tips
this is exactly the problem with RUclips....you need to find someone who really knows what they are doing and has successful students to show for it! one reason why this is my "go to" channel when I really need "correct" advice! Thanks Adam and all!
Tried this on the course yesterday. My only thought was punch my arms down as fast as possible. I almost started crying when the 5 iron flew so far I could not even find it. (Ball, not club)
Great lesson! As someone that worked really hard to fix my over the top from baseball swing habits, this will only help me and also give me a little more pop!
Wow, this makes so much sense and really hits home with my swing. I was trying to almost hold off the hands/arms and it would make for some bad strikes.
Yes sir. I like what you say about the lower body leading thought is a half truth. Yes, does the Lower body lead, of course, but it is a very small leading. The hands have to get down. People spend so much time working on the body and ignore the hands. Body, like you also mention, is very important too, but don’t forget the hands.
A lot of industry/world still incorrectly teaches the body first body fast and passive hands and arms. While the fast hands/arms teachers have always been out there it seems a lot of teachers didn't start advocating it until 3d systems looking at tour pros and long driver swings started to reveal that the fastest swingers were having the hands become the fastest moving thing in the downswing right after the hands reached the end of their backswing. I went from a mostly short hitter with an occasional long drive to a much more often consistently long driver when I started focusing on accelerating my hands and arms from the top of the swing to hip high down. Since then i've been a big advocate of fast hands, but many people when told to make the hands move fast still move them pretty slow. Perhaps you could do a future video on how to accelerate the hands correctly (when, how, and in what direction)? Somewhat related to this the industries soft/loose hands and/or arms avocation messed me up for a long time. When I changed focus to keeping pressure in the last two/three fingers of my left hand, and maintaining arm structure (elbows keeping equal distance from one another, and upper arms maintaining position relative to the chest (right arm not getting behind the shirt seam) I saw more effortless power. ruclips.net/user/shorts4ly6rKaBNZE?feature=shared Thanks as always for sharing!
How have I never heard this before?! This is definitely an issue of mine. More proof porzak is king 🙏 we will see next year but I swear I’ll be breaking 80 consistently at my club course next year from watching you all year last year I have learned so much. Keep up the content man, seriously unreal!
This is excellent stuff. Even those ’body swingers`have to speed up their hands from the top. This speeding up happens unconsciously with good players and that’s why poorly recognised in teaching also. An eye opener for slicers.
At the very start of the downswing, rather than opening the hips, are you INITIALLY bracing against a firm lower body to give yourself a stable base in order to help pull your arms down with speed?
Fast hands should lead to you not being over the top. It’s a fast chest that pulls your hands out and towards the ball …if your chest was closed to target while you accelerate your hands, you have a ton of space to be able to move your hands downward more vertically.
An uncoordinated person won’t understand this philosophy. Old guy told me, if you can’t dance you will struggle with golf 😂 Pete Cowen said tiger is amazing with his hands. Brilliantly hand eye coordinated.
If you go back and watch some of his videos from around 6 months ago, he explains who Todd is. Porzak is a great coach who learned a lot from Todd. Keep watching these videos, and your game will improve
What is handsy golf ? Most all are sequencing to give the hands more time in the golf swing. Who is doing this on tour , that is winning golf tournaments ? If you talking educated hands, you get the body for free ? Then yes. Most golfer are mostly arms only and end having the hips stop . Pull hooks .
Handsy golf is when you stop turning through the ball and needing to flash through the impact area with your hands to square the club Handsy players also sometimes dont make big turns and only get power from there hands and arms. Just because he talked about having fast hands doesnt mean his body isnt doing what it is supposed to do. Fast hands doesnt mean handsy. You want your hands to match your body turn.
Nobody can be any good at golf without good hands. When your told to use your body not just your hands that really means that they both need to be in sync. Fast hands doesnt mean your handsy. We need fast hands to match our body in the golf swing.Handsy is when we dont rotate properly and depend on just our hands to square the club. Also if we do get proper hip or shoulder turn or dont use our legs properly we have to be handsy to get some distance. Fast hands are necessary and dont mean your handsy not to be confused with over active hands.
But your confusing the statement the lower body starts the swing with your thoughts about speed. Never heard any instructor say yours hips are faster than arms. Soooo it’s not half true, it’s complete true. Hips first, then hands.
I have applied this to every practice session and this has been fantastic! All your videos are amazing but this one improved my ball striking 300%!!!! Ball speed is up and accuracy as well! Can't thank you enough!

I’m doing the same thing you described! How do I break the habit of dropping club behind

I do the same thing. Staying connected and swinging more with the body is my swing thought and feeling

Awesome lesson. This answers a question that I had and you explained it really well and clearly! Thank you!
Tried this on the course yesterday. My only thought was punch my arms down as fast as possible. I almost started crying when the 5 iron flew so far I could not even find it. (Ball, not club)

Does this apply to driver shots? Or only when hitting 'down'?

Outstanding Lesson.
This is an excellent tip for us older guys who try to muscle it with our upper body

Tiger , Sergio , jack Jason day, rose the all did this
Agree with concept.
Nice simple lesson and swing thought. Thanks
Another great lesson. Have you ever shot a video on hip separation in the swing? Thanks
This guy is awesome...still one of the best
One of my favorite swing thoughts.
One of my favorite videos!
This is great! Thanks for this video, Porzak!
Pure Gold, thanks for sharing
You bet!! Thanks for watching
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great content as usual. Plans for any clinics in 2024?
Thanks!
Does this apply to both draw and fade shots ?
Great video
would you say you pull the butt of the club towards the lead side with the hands?
Great thoughts there both of you!!! Thanks
Perfect!
Isnt pulling down with the hands bad though?

The best of the best
How do I achieve fast hands without coming over the top?

@ OHH ill try it tomorrow on the range. Im rewatching all of your videos hehe.
Great lesson! I’d really like to know what you’re taking to get so much damn energy…I want some! LOL
An uncoordinated person won’t understand this philosophy. Old guy told me, if you can’t dance you will struggle with golf 😂 Pete Cowen said tiger is amazing with his hands. Brilliantly hand eye coordinated.
Eureka
How many times do you pitch shots to that putting green over there? Lol
Who is Todd?
