    Great report. I am also from this area and quite familiar with the places discussed ( Ballston Spa, Colonie Center, SUNY Albany). After listening to Josh Hallmark's phenomenal podcast "True Crime Bullsh**", I am convinced that Suzanne was one of the first victims of Israel Keyes (the devious and hauntingly evil psychopath/serial killer that most people have never heard of). He was in the Albany area at the time that Suzanne disappeared. He was identified by a credible witness as the man who stalked her in an Albany mall parking lot in early 1998. He enlisted in the military at Colonie Center (just a few miles from the SUNY Albany campus). Thankfully, he is no longer around. My prayers go out to Suzanne's family; I hope that her case is solved soon.

      Israel Keyes has been suggested as Suzanne's possible abductor/killer, however I don't believe that there was ever any definitive proof that he was in the Albany, NY area on that exact date (March 2, 1998). Also, none of the students near the bus stop or near Suzanne's dorm room ever witnessed a disturbance, a struggle, a cry for help, or a suspicious vehicle fleeing the scene of the parking lots near Collins Circle.
      If Suzanne was indeed abducted along her usual pathway to her dorm room Quad (by Israel Keyes or someone else), dozens, perhaps hundreds of students would have seen or heard something strange/odd/violent in those crucial moments. That leads me to believe that Suzanne must have walked a different pathway that night, perhaps to a different, lesser-used, poorly-lit entrance around the rear of one of the Quads near the truck loading docks. That has always been my suspicion.
      To this day, there are still many areas around the periphery of the main Quads where an abductor could hide and grab an unsuspecting victim, and then quickly throw them into a van and then speed off undetected.

    My wife’s youngest sister grew up with her. It’s made it hard to forget about. I always felt bad about not only what may have happened, but how no one has ever found anything out.

      I went to UAlbany at the same time as Suzanne. We lived on the same quad when she went missing. I have never forgotten this story as it shook many of us. I remember always feeling as though the University Police did very little for this case. They did handout yellow whistles, as if that was going to help.
      This is a very very sad story to still see unsolved. Prayers for Suzanne and her family 🙏

    I went to SUNY (UAlbany) around that time period, and had left the school the year before Suzanne went missing. The whole Capital District/Albany, NY area was completely transfixed on this story. Missing posters of Suzanne were put up everywhere: telephone poles, bus stops, gas station windows, etc... TV and radio newscasts relentlessly begged the question: "Where's Suzanne?" but unfortunately, nothing that pointed to the reasons for her disappearance were ever discovered. Young high school and college-age women were terrified that they too might become the victim of an abduction. Students were afraid to walk alone or to ride buses by themselves at night. Fear began to grip the whole Capital District. Gradually, the fear lessened, but Suzanne's story still remained in local lore around the whole area, and now in this day of increased internet presence, more people can help to discover and share information about her truly bizarre disappearance. Her family and friends need to know what happened to her.

    Even if someone it's innocent, it's wise to lawyer up as soon as possible, and lie detectors have proven to be less than reliable. Though, the significant other being a big suspect has its merits on the fact of being closest to the victim. Hope this case gets closure some day.

    • @TheCellarTrueCrime
      @TheCellarTrueCrime  4 месяца назад

      My belief is whoever withdrew the money knew her habit of only taking 20 out at a time. Thus tried to use a withdrawal to make it seem like it was her when in reality it wasn’t. I believe it was used to draw attention away from where focus should’ve been on the case

    I agree that it’s very likely the bf, but I’d never hold refusing a polygraph against anyone - any sensible person will refuse as they are wholly unreliable.

  • @UnicornSpoonie
    @UnicornSpoonie 8 месяцев назад +1

    I do think the boyfriend likely did it, purely because only $20 were taken each time. Even knowing the password isn’t that weird to me because a lot of couple, when they trust each other and plan the partner will stay in their lives, a password/passcode is often shared. So that’s not a big deal for me, but that $20 thing…idk something is eating at me about that, especially since it was after she was dead. I mean technically yeah somebody else could do that but if it’s for robbery, which is usually why somebody steals, they would want to take out the max amount I’d think.
    Annoyingly I can almost easily explain everything. It may not be true, but I still think most parts are explainable. The $20 and the old name tag are nagging at me. Old name tags, most people wouldn’t even know where their’s was, but that’s because it’s just kinda tossed somewhere. Since she lived in a dorm, it likely wasn’t there because it’s a temporary situation. I guess it could’ve been at her family’s house, but since that’s was an on and off again living situation as well…idk. But I could see her taking it off at her boyfriend’s place and just forgot to grab it or didn’t care about it since she was getting a new one.
    Okay I definitely understand why this is puzzling. Did they ever look at her family? I can’t think of a reason they’d do it, but the family is another group that may have her passcode and know how much she takes out…

    • @TheCellarTrueCrime
      @TheCellarTrueCrime  8 месяцев назад

      I don't know how much the family was looked into. In a lot of cases like this the significant other is the culprit. But it feels like at this point.. the case won't ever be solved unless her body is found.

    • @UnicornSpoonie
      @UnicornSpoonie 8 месяцев назад

      @@TheCellarTrueCrime Yeah that’s why I lean to the boyfriend too. Which it’s seriously saddening that we have to look at the significant other as the culprit, but I guess that’s the world we live in. You’re probably right though about not getting to know anything until she’s found. Hopefully it’ll be like how many killers in like the 70s and 80s are now being caught because of technology. The only sad part to those cases is that often times the killer is already dead. I’m going to hope, for her friend’s and family’s sake, that they find some peace now and eventually they’ll get answers. No parent should ever have to go through stuff like this. It just breaks my heart for them! Thank you for covering things like this because I think it’s important to keep these cold cases in the minds of younger generations and reminders for the older generations to help solve these things. (I hope that last sentence made sense😆)
