I wish i would have known about swing music when i was much younger. I played trumpet in grade school and junior high. I was very good at it but got so bored if it. I loved this when it came out. Big bad voodoo daddy, squil nut zippers, lee presson and the nails. So much fun ! Still love it in 2023
That period in the late 90's with swing and ska both coming back in a big way was really special for horn players, no question. But the other reply is right: Nothing at all stopping you from picking up your axe and playing it, and there is still swing and jazz going on in all sorts of corners of the world because the music is just that good.
I heard a guy sing this at karaoke once and it is still the best performance I have ever seen in my life dude had the dance moves down timing everything. 10/10 awesome song for karaoke

Do you even know what that means??! Of course you don’t know what that means do just don’t say it anymore….” Lol 😂 dads always get so awkward around their daughters when shit like that happens, now that I’m older it’s hilarious watching them tryna figure out how to navigate that extremely uncomfortable terrain lol and band names like the cherry poppin daddies doesn’t help much lmao 🤣

Back when I was six years old, this was me and my fathers song, after he passed away I kind of stopped listening to it and just recently started listening to it again and I keep telling myself why did I ever stop?

Love it! The band and the dancers all looked like they had a fun and an amazing time making this video. The angry clown face on the post is a cool, surreal, and interesting part of this video. I would love to have a T-shirt with that angry clown on it. Or...maybe even a replica of the angry clown to adorn my living room wall.
This song was once performed live on *Nickelodeon* of all networks during _The Big Help-a-Thon_ in 1998, right when _Zoot Suit Riot_ was hot on the charts. Every instance of "beer" in the lyrics was muted out during the broadcast, but the guys in charge of the dump button weren't always on-time. Some times, the dump button was pressed too early, while other times, the dump button wasn't pressed for long enough.
Like a lot of folks in the comments, i loved this song for its sound back in the day (and still do). It wasnt until i had actually read about the Zoot Suit Riots about 20 years ago that i realized the dark times this song is actually about.
I don’t think this is the version that made it to MTV. I think they had a toned down version. Minus the cow head & I think he wore a green suit in the one. 🤔

Paging Todd in the Shadows, your presence is waiting... surprised he hasn't made a video on this one yet
Always nice to see a fellow Shadowdweller (or whatever he calls us fans).
Back when I was six years old, this was me and my fathers song, after he passed away I kind of stopped listening to it and just recently started listening to it again and I keep telling myself why did I ever stop?
Also squirrel nut zippers and big bad voodoo daddy
Where are bennys clits o ring
Back in the day I caught these guys as an opening act at a club in Georgetown. I instantly fell in love and bought this record and played until it wore out. Actually, I think it was a cassette lol
This 1998 song was definitely AFTER its time. And that is a complement.
I was the only person I knew listening to this in 1998 lol awesome!
Still 1 of my favorites 👌🏽
Remember this song???IT is time to put on the zoot suits for New Year''s and thow back a bottle of beer!!!!!!!!!Happy 2020!!!!! They look and ing awesome!!!!!!
This didn't age well
@@jordandunton3029 no it did not
Oooooooh yeah, I remember this
Love it! The band and the dancers all looked like they had a fun and an amazing time making this video. The angry clown face on the post is a cool, surreal, and interesting part of this video. I would love to have a T-shirt with that angry clown on it. Or...maybe even a replica of the angry clown to adorn my living room wall.
Cherry Poppin Daddies......band names you can't use anymore 😂
This song was once performed live on *Nickelodeon* of all networks during _The Big Help-a-Thon_ in 1998, right when _Zoot Suit Riot_ was hot on the charts. Every instance of "beer" in the lyrics was muted out during the broadcast, but the guys in charge of the dump button weren't always on-time. Some times, the dump button was pressed too early, while other times, the dump button wasn't pressed for long enough.
@@drewzuhosky6826they were just simpler times 😂
you couldnt use it then really
All that talent!!!🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🏆💚❤️
Yes, kids. For about 8 months in 1997/1998, Swing music was all over the radio and twentysomethings were actually going out to learn swing dancing.
Awesome song! I love it!!!!
Like a lot of folks in the comments, i loved this song for its sound back in the day (and still do). It wasnt until i had actually read about the Zoot Suit Riots about 20 years ago that i realized the dark times this song is actually about.
Awesome song
There needs to be a 4k version of this video on RUclips, and I’ve already tried
This is not the original video from the 90s. Check out the original
I don’t think this is the version that made it to MTV. I think they had a toned down version. Minus the cow head & I think he wore a green suit in the one. 🤔

So I first heard this about a year ago,in 2022. How can ANYONE hear this song and NOT start dancing????!!!! 😆I absolutely LOVE driving around, windows down jamming to this song! LOVE it!!! Not a huge fan of band name😧 but the song is so incredibly amazing I can overlook that😆😆😆
I love this song
The drums go hard asf in this song
these guys and squirrel nut zippers should have hooked up and did an album together. Brought this music style back
we played this in pep band in high school, easily my favorite song we did, even if our drummer couldn't do the intro
also that would have been early 00's, when the song was still fairly recent
hello thanks for a fun video
The dancers in that video were professionals! I've never seen anyone in a bar or concert dance like that!
When I was about 5, my father introduced me to this song. Once I hit high school I learned what the band's name meant. XD
Ah, the swing revival! What memories!
Love em !
I was born in the wrong century, love this song..
I grew up in the 90s. Best era ever. More into Alice in chains. And grunge music but this is one of the best songs ever🥰 check out the original video of zoot suit riot. This is not the original. Love both tho.
I strive to be in a genuine jazz song, I have nearly perfected this song on the trombone, now to find a jazz band with this similar style
I took three girls to my prom and we all walked in together and I was decked out in my zoot suit, hat and chain and everything, and this song was definitely playing in my head. It was 2004 and these were the halcyon days…
