She was once an innocent child who would have probably grew up to be compassionate and do good for people. Xena, killing Callisto’s parents and leaving her with absolutely nothing but a heart of hatred is the saddest thing ever for both Xena’s past and Callisto’s character. Fun fact as per google...The original script for this episode included Melinda Clarke's return as Velasca to haunt Gabrielle. Writers had Callisto killing Xena's brother (Toris), Hope killing Xena's son (Solan), and Velasca killing Hope to hurt Gabrielle. Melinda was unable to film at this time, causing writers to edit the script. With this being said Xena's older brother Toris from the episode "Death Mask" as well as Velasca, was supposed to return in this episode. 3 people were supposed to die in this episode.
Wow that's fascinating. I didn't even know that. That would have been a fatal blow for Xena to deal with. Losing Solan was enough, I think. Nothing worse than losing your child. I believe the writers of the show had made ambrosian gods have limitations and need time to fully understand and embrace their godhood. Callisto had just ate Ambrosia when Xena dropped her into the lava, so she didn't have time to do anything other than shoot lightning. Then she was brought back by child Hope for a few days and just then learned how to play around with teleportation and fire. But then again, she was so involved with her emotions and hatred she probably forgot she could do that.
I mean I didnt understand why callisto just didnt teleport out of there like she.did in any other episode. She had god like powers. I felt the writers always had to make it so that xena came.out victorious but in truth if this was a real fight callisto proabably would have killed xena way earlier
You're 100% right. This scene required the view to "forget" that Callisto could teleport. Heck, earlier in the episode, Callisto turned herself into fire. That would have worked too.
I think because Callisto didn’t want to teleport out of there, remember when Hope retrieves her later on & she’s upset about being disturbed because she wants to sleep which is the next best thing to death, until Hope tells her that she can kill her.
I always thought it was hilarious how a cave in can stop a god lol but hey you gotta find something when you OP a character. Still one of my fave shows growing up and now.
This show helped me through so much growing up! It wasn't easy being a gay kid in the 90's. She taught me how to fight and to face my fears! Xena and Buffy!!!! All day errrday!!!
My opinion...She didnt teleport because there is one element that can trap Gods and that is earth. All the times that they needed to hold a powerful being, is it god or Titan even, Earth was involved. Thats my opinion, there's no cannon behind it, but Its what Ive observed in both Xena and Hercules shows.
I never watched it much but it here there was an episode where the Callisto and Xena traded places. The Callisto actress was Xena. I did like that. She made a very attractive Xena

@@gedias1 That's why I was confused.
oh man callisto my crush back in the day.
Calisto my dream lady . She is gorgeous, beautifull and perfect .Love her
Such a complex character story arc for a hero and villain if only today’s tv series could live up to this
They don't. I can almost never watch a show from this generation more than one time.
back when tv was worth watching
Callisto is beautiful
This is the best female fight ever as well as the '90s and then some! 🗡️👱♀️🩷💕
They really should have done a Callisto series, would have been interesting to watch a bad guy's story with such a good actor.
I can't see a Psycho like Callisto being the hero of her own TV series. She's not the hero type.
Pleaseeee, the arrows atack scene!! \o/
I always thought it was hilarious how a cave in can stop a god lol but hey you gotta find something when you OP a character. Still one of my fave shows growing up and now.
This show and Hercules TLJ were well ahead of it's time. I loved Friday nights watching those shows in the 1990s.
This show helped me through so much growing up! It wasn't easy being a gay kid in the 90's. She taught me how to fight and to face my fears! Xena and Buffy!!!! All day errrday!!!
Why couldn’t she just teleport out of there ? She’s a god ?
I agree. This scene makes no sense. Callisto was so distraught over her lack of joy that she didn't think of using a portion of her powers.
She just started using god powers. Becoming one does not mean auto skills :).
Nepthu That. She was so distraught she did not think of using all of her god powers
I think Callisto and Xena liked to bully each other it seem to give them a thrill.
I agree I love their rivalry the way they fight with each other, Xena always outsmarts Callisto
I miss xena 😊
Lucy and Hudson are legends xx
Yeah. I forgot that the "Alalalalalalala..." Was a thing in this show back then. Xena was my childhood crush.
This is a nice example that power means nothing wihtouth accuracy. Callisto lightening...
I never watched it much but it here there was an episode where the Callisto and Xena traded places. The Callisto actress was Xena. I did like that. She made a very attractive Xena
That was a great episode. I remember that one too. Both of them pulled it off very well.

🙌🏽 XENA WARRIOR👄🤾🏽♀️🔥🔥🔥🔥😎
